Enterococcus faecalis has been identified as a member of the vaginal community of healthy females, in addition to its association with vaginitis and urinary tract infections. Here we present the hybrid assembly of an E. faecalis strain, UMB6935B, isolated from a vaginal swab from a female with overactive bladder symptoms.

Background: The majority of missense variants in clinical genetic tests are classified as variants of uncertain significance. Prior research shows that the deleterious effects and the subsequent molecular consequences of variants are often conserved among paralogous protein sequences within a gene family. Here, we systematically quantify on an exome-wide scale whether the existence of pathogenic variants in paralogous genes at a conserved position can serve as evidence for the pathogenicity of a new variant. This policy paper provides some updated estimates of the short-run fiscal effects of expanding Michigan’s state-funded preschool program, the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP), to encompass universal access for Michigan’s four-year-olds. This is an update to Policy Paper No. 2025-034, which analyzed the economic and fiscal effects of Michigan’s current GSRP program as compared to the state having no program. The update takes advantage of a high-quality recent study of the economic effects of universal preschool programs in nine states, authored by Jackson, Turner, and Bastian (2025). Over the last decade, network applications have grown exponentially, demanding high-speed interconnects. Unfortunately, chip manufacturers are approaching the upper limits of silicon-based computing with slow improvements in computational performance and energy efficiency. This trend has forced the industry to shift paradigms, moving from monolithic architectures to heterogeneous, domain-specific designs. Moreover, the ever-evolving threats compromise digital services and demand more scalable and flexible solutions to ensure service continuity in production networks. The electrochemical reduction of CO₂ using membrane electrode assembly (MEA) cells has emerged as a promising approach for carbon capture and conversion into valuable products. This study investigates the degradation mechanisms of anion exchange membranes (AEMs) in CO₂ reduction applications, focusing on Sustainion X37-50, PiperION, and FAA-3-50. The research analyzes the impact of chemical and mechanical degradation on membrane performance, highlighting key stability challenges in long-term operation. Recent research has advocated for interactive assessments of vocabulary over more traditional, static assessments, as interactive assessments are more sensitive to linguistic and cultural diversity. Static vocabulary assessments, such as the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVT), probe existing knowledge, while interactive assessments, such as the Quick Interactive Language Screener (QUILS), examines a child’s language in a wholistic manner by assessing previously learned vocabulary knowledge, syntactic knowledge, and processing when learning a new concept. The Rosemarkie Inlier lies on the NW side of the Great Glen Fault Zone (GGFZ) and is composed of foliated and lineated Archean orthogneisses and Moine metasedimentary rocks. The mylonitic foliation strikes NE–SW (parallel to the GGFZ), dips steeply SE and contains a gently to moderately plunging mineral lineation. Microstructural and quartz c-axis fabric analyses indicate that oblique sinistral shearing occurred under amphibolite-facies conditions. Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) analyses on monazite rims in the gneisses yielded ²⁰⁶Pb/²³⁸U ages of 401.8 ± 4.8 Ma (including 2 (Formula presented.) uncertainty and a propagated additional 1% …

Abstract: This paper critically examines the phrase "one nation, indivisible" from the Pledge of Allegiance in light of the complex realities of race, ethnicity, and immigration in the United States. While the pledge asserts a unified national identity, this ideal is frequently undermined by systemic social, economic, and political divisions. Drawing from multicultural and sociopolitical frameworks, the paper explores how the lived experiences of marginalized groups—particularly racial and ethnic minorities and immigrant communities—reveal a fragmented national reality. Abstract

This capstone project aims to enhance diagnostic reliability in a clinical laboratory by validating centrifuge performance and implementing an adult education-based training program within a quality management framework. Twenty archived, de-identified whole blood samples were analyzed to compare the performance of a new centrifuge with an existing model, focusing on plasma volume, hemolysis index, and Tacrolimus concentration.

The study demonstrated statistical and clinical equivalence between the devices, supporting the implementation of the new centrifuge. BACKGROUND: Floreciendo is a sexual and reproductive health program for Latina teens (14-18 years) and their female caregivers adapted from the evidence-based IMARA intervention. We report on our experience theater testing Floreciendo during the preparation phase of the multiphase optimization strategy (MOST) framework. Floreciendo includes four two-hour sessions (i.e., intervention components). Our aims were to: (1) examine the preliminary acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility of the intervention components, including the acceptability of the implementation plan (i.e., logistics, strategies), and (2) systematically report on curriculum modifications made based on findings.

Experts predict that by the end of the century, global average temperatures could rise between 1–1.5°C with significant reductions in carbon emissions, or as high as 4.5–5°C if current emission levels persist (González, 2025). Introduction: Care (Education) and Treatment Reviews (C(E)TR)are meetings to review individualized needs of people withintellectual disabilities (PwID) at risk of or currently undergoingpsychiatric hospitalization. We aimed to understand C(E)TRimpact and effectiveness from professionals working with PwID.Methods: An online mixed-methodology survey whichincluded 34 questions (either Likert or free text) was sharedwith networks including relevant professionals. Quantitativedata are presented descriptively. Thematic analysis was conducted on free-text responses.Results: Of 66 people representing multiple intellectual disability teams across the UK, 67% found the C(E)TR process useful,35% felt C(E)TRs made a difference to their clinical care, while36% felt it did not. Cytosolic N termini of several BK channel β regulatory subunits mediate rapid inactivation. However, in contrast to Kv channels, inactivation does not occur via a simple, open-channel block mechanism, but involves two steps, an association step in which ion permeation is maintained (O*), then followed by inactivation (I). To produce inactivation, BK β subunit N termini enter the central cavity through a lateral entry pathway ("side portal") separating the transmembrane pore-gate domain and cytosolic gating ring. Mutations in FGF14, which encodes intracellular fibroblast growth factor 14 (iFGF14), have been linked to spinocerebellar ataxia type 27 (SCA27), a multisystem disorder associated with deficits in motor coordination and cognitive function. Mice lacking iFGF14 (Fgf14-/-) display similar phenotypes, and we have previously shown that the deficits in motor coordination reflect reduced excitability of cerebellar Purkinje neurons, owing to a hyperpolarizing shift in the voltage-dependence of voltage-gated Na+ (Nav) current steady-state inactivation. Here, we present the results of experiments designed to test the hypothesis that loss of iFGF14 also attenuates the intrinsic excitability of mature hippocampal pyramidal neurons. We present a comprehensive global analysis of genetic variants associated with autosomal-dominant Alzheimer's disease (ADAD). A total of 550 variants in the APP, PSEN1 and PSEN2 genes were identified, of which 279 were classified as pathogenic or likely pathogenic based on American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics and the Association for Molecular Pathology criteria, utilizing data from the Dominantly Inherited Alzheimer Network (DIAN), literature and public databases. Symptomatic age at onset (AAO) data were estimated for 227 of these variants, allowing detailed characterization of their frequency, pathogenicity and AAO. Widespread implementation of energy efficiency is a key greenhouse gas emissions mitigation measure, but rebound can “take back” energy savings. However, the absence of solid analytical foundations hinders empirical determination of the size of rebound. A new clarity is needed, one that involves both economics and energy analysis. Our objective was to validate a 5-item compassion measurement tool as a reliable measure of patient assessments of clinician compassion in the pediatric outpatient setting. We completed a cross-sectional study in a U.S. academic healthcare system consisting of six pediatric clinics between February and September 2023. We adapted the original 5-item tool to elicit responses regarding the pediatric patient. The measure was disseminated with the Clinician and Group Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and System (CG-CAHPS) survey. We included patients aged < 18 years old who had an outpatient clinic visit and had a parent complete the CG-CAHPS survey. Validity testing of the 5-item tool was performed using confirmatory factor analysis. Internal reliability was tested using Cronbach's α, and convergent validity with overall provider rating questions from the CG-CAHPS survey was evaluated using Spearman correlation. We analyzed 640 responses. The median (interquartile range) patient age was 8 (3-13) years, and 47% of patients were female. Sixty-one percent of patients were White/Caucasian and 25% were Black/African American. Confirmatory factor analyses found a good fit. The compassion measure demonstrated good internal consistency (α = 0.97) and convergent validity with overall provider rating (r_s = 0.63 (95% confidence interval 0.56-0.70)) but reflected a patient experience domain distinctly different from what is currently …
