Laying The Groundwork For Liberatory Expressive Arts Research: A Queer Review, Robyn E. Ginsberg Jul 2025

Laying The Groundwork For Liberatory Expressive Arts Research: A Queer Review, Robyn E. Ginsberg

Expressive Therapies Theses

The goal of this thesis was to reveal the interconnectedness of disparate discourse across diverse disciplines and locate it within one queer domain. The intersection of (expressive) art and (community/participatory) action is a space within which queer collaboration can take place. It is a space that can accommodate and energize non-normative idea generation and exchange which can mobilize queer resistance to create societal change (Fernández & Fine, 2024; Rutten, 2016). By engaging with interdisciplinary literature and situating conceptual frameworks in dialogue this review provides a foundation for liberatory expressive arts research (LExAR) and practice. Key themes include: centering queer and …

Department of Medicine Faculty Papers

Abstract

Background/Objectives: Degenerative joint diseases (DJDs) involve intricate molecular disruptions within bone, cartilage, and synovial tissues, often preceding overt radiographic changes. These tissues exhibit complex biomolecular architectures and their degeneration leads to microstructural disorganization and inflammation that are challenging to detect with conventional imaging techniques. This review aims to synthesize recent advances in imaging, computational modeling, and sequencing technologies that enable high-resolution, non-invasive characterization of joint tissue health. Methods: We examined advanced modalities including high-resolution MRI (e.g., T1ρ, sodium MRI), quantitative and dual-energy CT (qCT, DECT), and ultrasound elastography, integrating them with radiomics, deep learning, and multi-scale modeling approaches. We …

Faculty Publications

Developing an understanding of phenomena driven by the emergence of hadron mass (EHM) is one of the most challenging problems in the Standard Model. This discussion focuses on the impact of results on nucleon resonance (N*) electroexcitation amplitudes (or γvpN*) obtained from experiments during the 6 GeV era in Hall B at Jefferson Lab on understanding EHM. Analyzed using continuum Schwinger function methods (CSMs), these results have revealed new pathways for the elucidation of EHM. A good description of the Δ (1232) 3/2+, N (1440) 1/2+, and Δ (1600) 3/2+ …

Strichartz Estimates For Many Particle Dispersive Equations, Tristan Reynoso Jul 2025

Strichartz Estimates For Many Particle Dispersive Equations, Tristan Reynoso

LSU Doctoral Dissertations

Dispersive equations are useful for describing a wide variety of phenomena in which solutions disperse through the space as time progresses. These equations show up frequently in physics, especially when studying quantum mechanical and fluid related systems. The single particle variants of equations such as the Schr\"{o}dinger and Wave equations have been studied at great length throughout modern history. Over the last couple decades progress has been made toward extending single particle dispersive equations to cover their many body counterparts. Space-time Strichartz estimates for the homogenous $N$-particle Schr\"{o}dinger equation with small interacting potentials was recently established on both $\mathbb{R}^d$ and …

A Transcendental Phenomenology: Exploring The College Choice Process Of Black Undergraduate Students Who Transfer From Predominantly White Institutions To Historically Black Colleges And Universities, Heather Oliver Freeman

LSU Doctoral Dissertations

Researchers have studied college students and the college choice process extensively in the higher education realm of academia. Often, college choice is explored from a lens of the traditional high school student approaching the initial college choice decision. Furthermore, higher education is an expansive topic that not only includes public and private institutions, two- and four-year institutions, but also predominantly White institutions (PWIs) and historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to explore the college choice process and transfer experiences of undergraduate Black students who transfer from a PWI to an HBCU. This …

Deep Learning For Absorption-Image Analysis, Jacob Morrey, Isaac Peterson, Robert H. Leonard, Joshua M. Wilson, Francisco Fonta, Matthew B. Squires, Spencer E. Olson

Space Dynamics Laboratory Publications

The quantum state of ultracold atoms is often determined through measurement of the spatial distribution of the atom cloud. Absorption imaging of the cloud is regularly used to extract this spatial information. Accurate determination of the parameters which describe the spatial distribution of the cloud is crucial to the success of many ultracold atom applications. In this work, we present modified deep learning image classification models for image regression. To overcome challenges in data collection, we train the model on simulated absorption images. We compare the performance of the deep learning models to least-squares techniques and show that the deep …

Hemp Cultivation Under Off-Season High Tunnel Growth Chamber Environments In South Louisiana, Gabriel Lococo Jul 2025

Hemp Cultivation Under Off-Season High Tunnel Growth Chamber Environments In South Louisiana, Gabriel Lococo

LSU Master's Theses

Industrial hemp (Cannabis sativa) production in Louisiana began in 2020 with 932 acres cultivated for fiber and cannabidiol (CBD) extraction. By 2024, production had declined to just 58.4 acres (Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry, personal communication). During the 2020–2021 season, over 40% of field-grown hemp was lost due to tropical storms, insect pressure, and diseases associated with warm, wet conditions. To mitigate these challenges, hemp was planted and harvested between November and January, a cooler period with reduced environmental stress.

‘Sour Citron’, a day-neutral cultivar, was selected for its insensitivity to photoperiod, enabling flowering during shorter days. …

An Ensemble Approach For Detection Of Malicious Urls Using Som And Tabu Search Optimization, Simar Preet Singh, Abhilash Maroju, Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, Karan Tejpal

Polytechnic Journal

Abstract: The fast spread of malicious URLs is a significant risk to online safety, since it makes assaults like spam, phishing, virus distribution, and vandalism of websites easier to carry out. The dynamic nature of these threats makes traditional detection techniques unable to keep up. Enhanced methods that can handle large-scale datasets and identify new attack patterns are needed for the real-time identification of malicious URLs. This research presents a strong hybrid machine learning approach that combines accurate classification with effective feature extraction. For feature extraction, we provide a Self-Organizing Map based Radial Movement Optimization (SOM-RMO); for classification, we …

All Works

It is widely reported that teachers in their first 5 years of entering the profession are highly likely to leave their teaching positions. There have been many discussions on how to keep beginning teachers in the profession, mainly in Western countries. However, no such discourse exists on teacher retention in non-Western contexts, such as Saudi Arabia. This study aimed to extend Western literature to the Middle Eastern context by investigating the retention of beginning teachers in Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. Four hundred and sixty-six novice teachers were evaluated using the Teacher Retention Scale, which was developed on the …
