In the shadows of Zambia’s rapidly growing urban and peri-urban communities lies an invisible but mounting threat, the mismanagement of septic waste. While national dialogue often focuses on economic development, climate change, or energy, the sanitation crisis receives little public attention, yet it poses an equally severe risk to public health, environmental integrity, and sustainable urbanization. Zambia’s poor septic waste management, if left unaddressed, is a disaster in waiting.

Background

Older persons’ use of digital technology is becoming more prominent due to society’s heavy reliance on mobile and web applications. A positive attitude has been detected among older persons regarding the use of mobile solutions. Digital technology is increasingly used in the provision of health and social care, which can help older persons continue to be independent, and in turn can contribute to older persons’ overall well-being and sense of safety. However, current digital technology has been found to be difficult for older persons. Additional explorations into older persons’ experiences using digital technology are therefore relevant.

In this paper, we conduct a thorough analysis of the qualitative behavior of solutions to three different types of difference equations of the Volterra type. Utilizing the principles of discrete calculus and various well-known inequalities, we have presented our findings. To conclude our theoretical findings, we provide several examples that illustrate full alignment with the findings.

Traditional pairing schemes rely on centralized architectures, which are vulnerable to temporary or permanent failures due to operational malfunctions of their central hubs or gateways. While the etiology of most cases of Parkinson's disease (PD) are idiopathic, it has been estimated that 5-10% of PD arise from known genetic mutations. The first mutations described that leads to the development of an autosomal dominant form of PD are in the SNCA gene that codes for the protein alpha-synuclein (α-syn). α-syn is an abundant presynaptic protein that is natively disordered and whose function is still unclear. In PD, α-syn misfolds into multimeric b-pleated sheets that aggregate in neurons (Lewy Bodies/neurites) and spread throughout the neuraxis in a pattern that aligns with disease progression. Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (allo-HCT) is underutilized in adults aged ≥70 years. Morbidity, often driven by graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), is considered a major barrier to its use. The BMT CTN 1703 trial (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT03959241) randomly assigned adults with hematologic malignancies undergoing allo-HCT after reduced intensity conditioning to receive either posttransplant cyclophosphamide, mycophenolate mofetil, and tacrolimus (PTCy) or tacrolimus and methotrexate (Tac/MTX) for GVHD prophylaxis. Overall study results revealed superior GVHD-free, relapse-free survival (GRFS) with PTCy-based prophylaxis. We aim to expand units coordination and construction assessment by examining the significance of embodiment and teacher noticing, especially in relation to recent developments in equitable mathematics teacher noticing research. We outline our approach as mathematics teacher educators with a wide range of expertise, wherein we investigated how prospective elementary mathematics teachers (PTs) notice students' units construction and coordination through embodied actions and the impact of incorporating a focus on embodiment in assessment. PURPOSE: The rare, unpredictable, debilitating nature of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) constitutes a unique psychological burden. This single-arm, pilot clinical trial examined the effectiveness of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) tailored to meet the psychological burden of NMOSD, a brief telehealth-delivered intervention, targeting this burden.

METHODS: Forty-three adults with NMOSD (76 % aquaporin-4 seropositive (AQP4+)) in USA, with elevated anxiety and/or depression completed 6-weeks of an experiential talk therapy designed to increase psychological flexibility and valued action, specifically tailored to address the psychological burden of NMOSD: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) w NMOSD. A novel single-step low-temperature pyrolysis method is developed to efficiently remove encapsulated Ni nanoparticles (NPs, 10–50 nm) from both regular-grade (< 5 wt.% metal impurities) and industrial-grade (< 10 wt.% metal impurities) carbon nanotubes (CNTs). This approach eliminates the need for conventional multi-step purification processes, which often involve high-temperature corrosive gas oxidation and acid washing. The new strategy transforms and redistributes encapsulated Ni-NPs into homogeneously sized nanoclusters (NCs, ≈1 nm) that are evenly dispersed on the surface of CNTs. Surface and bulk sensitive spectroscopic analyses reveal the predominant formation of Ni3N-NCs, along with some metallic Ni-NCs. The treated materials demonstrate exceptional electroactivity toward CO2 reduction to CO, with the best-performing CNT-PTFE-Mel-650 sample achieving an ultra-low onset overpotential of −19 mV and 98% CO selectivity in a current density range of 100–700 mA cm⁻². This NC catalyst demonstrates 25% lower voltage at 700 mA cm⁻² compared to the single atom catalyst (SAC) control. Experimentally verified ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) models are simulated, and subsequent density functional theory (DFT) calculations further support the thermodynamic stability of Ni3N-NCs and their favorability for CO2 reduction. This work establishes a new method for creating ligand-free electroactive NCs for efficient electrochemical reactions.

The purpose of this quantitative, predictive, correlational research study was to identify the relationship between attitude toward willingness to intervene against suicide scores and the linear combination of sex and age among undergraduate students. Higher education institutions must now determine if these sociodemographic variables prompted undergraduate college students to seek out interventions and use mental health services in case of suicide. The target undergraduate population included 93 full-time students between the ages of 18-45 from a postsecondary institution.
