In the interview, Owens describes a shootout between members of his cattle outfit, owned by Dan Waggoner, and rival rustlers in 1878. The interview also references the Kiowa Indian Tribe of Oklahoma.

“Silent Is Not Actually Silent”: An Investigation Of Toxicity On Bug Report Discussion, Mia Mohammad Imran, Jaydeb Sarker

Computer Science Faculty Research & Creative Works

Toxicity in bug report discussions poses significant challenges to the collaborative dynamics of open-source software development. Bug reports are crucial for identifying and resolving defects, yet their inherently problem-focused nature and emotionally charged context make them susceptible to toxic interactions. This study explores toxicity in GitHub bug reports through a qualitative analysis of 203 bug threads, including 81 toxic ones. Our findings reveal that toxicity frequently arises from misaligned perceptions of bug severity and priority, unresolved frustrations with tools, and lapses in professional communication. These toxic interactions not only derail productive discussions but also reduce the likelihood of actionable outcomes, …

Numerical Simulation Of The Pitting Corrosion Behavior Of Stainless Steel Bellows Influenced By Varying Liquid Film Thicknesses, Lu-Jun Ren, Guo-Min Li, Zhen-Xiao Zhu, Hai-Yan Xiong, Bing Li

Journal of Electrochemistry

To advance the understanding of the corrosion behavior of stainless steel bellows in marine atmospheric environments and enhance the precision of service life predictions, this study employs finite element simulations to investigate the pitting corrosion rates and pit morphologies of bellows peaks and troughs under varying electrolyte film thicknesses. The model incorporates localized electrochemical reactions, oxygen concentration, and homogeneous solution reactions. For improved computational accuracy, the fitted polarization curve data were directly applied as nonlinear boundary conditions on the electrode surface via interpolation functions. Simulation results reveal that the peak regions exhibit faster corrosion rates than the trough regions. With …

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the application of intel-lectual property rights within the context of copyright protection of knit-ting patterns. The article will discuss the underutilization of copyright pro-tection for knitters and crafters and its larger impact upon craft and indus-try traditionally comprised of women. Part I introduces knitting patterns and a short history of copyright protections. Part II discusses the specific areas within knitting patterns and the knitting community which give rise to legal grey areas for copyright protection. This dissertation offers an ostensive definition of linguistic identity illustrated through historical and literary examples, lived experience, and even public policy. Linguistic identity consists of three parts: idiolect, dialect, and linguistic agency. The idiolect is a speaker’s personal identity. The dialect is a speaker’s social identity. Linguistic agency is the synthesis of both. This is an attempt to clarify the nature of the relationship between language and the self. Linguistic identity is an aspect of identity that has received scant attention in philosophy—even amidst the focus on language and linguistic analysis in this discipline. Keynote Address: Community Over Constitution, Riddhi Mukhopadhyay

Seattle University Law Review

In this keynote address, Riddhi Mukhopadhyay challenges the veneration of the U.S. Constitution by highlighting its origins in exclusion and its continued failure to protect marginalized communities. Drawing from her experience in civil legal aid and gender justice, she argues that the Constitution was drafted to consolidate power among white, wealthy men and continues to reflect that legacy through racial, gender, and class-based inequities. While acknowledging the significance of constitutional amendments and landmark cases, Mukhopadhyay emphasizes that meaningful change has always come from community-led action, not top-down reform. The Lost Child: A Critique On Transracial Adoption Rhetoric, Hallie Conyers-Tucker

Seattle University Law Review

Transracial adoption in the United States reflects a deeply rooted history of colonialism, cultural assimilation, and racial hierarchy, masked by rhetoric focused on the “best interest of the child.” The author critiques that rhetoric and traces how adoption practices and policies, both domestic and international, have evolved to reinforce systemic inequities. Through historical analysis of the forced adoption of Native American, Black, and Asian children, it reveals how the best interest standard has been wielded not to protect children but to uphold political and racial ideologies.
