Allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplant (allo-HCT) is underutilized in adults aged ≥70 years. Morbidity, often driven by graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), is considered a major barrier to its use. The BMT CTN 1703 trial (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT03959241) randomly assigned adults with hematologic malignancies undergoing allo-HCT after reduced intensity conditioning to receive either posttransplant cyclophosphamide, mycophenolate mofetil, and tacrolimus (PTCy) or tacrolimus and methotrexate (Tac/MTX) for GVHD prophylaxis. Overall study results revealed superior GVHD-free, relapse-free survival (GRFS) with PTCy-based prophylaxis. This analysis explored the impact of PTCy in patients aged ≥70 years enrolled in BMT CTN 1703. We analyzed outcomes for 96 patients …

We aim to expand units coordination and construction assessment by examining the significance of embodiment and teacher noticing, especially in relation to recent developments in equitable mathematics teacher noticing research. We outline our approach as mathematics teacher educators with a wide range of expertise, wherein we investigated how prospective elementary mathematics teachers (PTs) notice students' units construction and coordination through embodied actions and the impact of incorporating a focus on embodiment in assessment. We also address how expanding the understanding of units coordination and construction assessment through embodied noticings can create more equitable classroom spaces. The study emphasizes the need …
Alignment Of Perceptual Similarity Metrics With Human Perception, Abhijay Ghildyal
Alignment Of Perceptual Similarity Metrics With Human Perception, Abhijay Ghildyal
Dissertations and Theses
Perceptual similarity metrics are used for quantitatively evaluating the similarity between two images as it would appear to human perception. These metrics aim to mimic the human visual system, providing a more accurate assessment of visual similarity. Such visual assessments are considered to be more advanced than simple pixel-wise comparisons such as ℓp norm distances. Thus, a human-like assessment of visual similarity, makes the metrics valuable for applications in image compression, restoration, and enhancement, where evaluating perceptual quality is crucial. Perceptual similarity metrics have progressively become more correlated with human judgments on perceptual similarity; however, despite recent advances, the …

The Adaptation And Translation Of A Transition Readiness Scale For Young Adults With Autism Spectrum Disorder, Antonio F Pagán, Katherine A Loveland, Ron Acierno
Faculty, Staff and Student Publications
Autistic young adults often face significant challenges during the transition to adulthood, yet few tools exist to assess their readiness in a developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive manner. This study presents the development and initial validation of the Transition Readiness Scale for Autistic Adolescents and Adults (TRS-A), a brief caregiver- and self-report measure designed to assess key domains of transition readiness. Guided by qualitative input from Latino families, community stakeholders, and clinicians, the TRS-A was piloted with 114 autistic young adults, 66 Spanish-speaking parents, and 48 English-speaking parents. Psychometric analyses supported the scale's internal consistency and construct validity, mirroring the …
Implementing A Health Recommendation System From Wearable Data, Priti Pramanick
Implementing A Health Recommendation System From Wearable Data, Priti Pramanick
Doctoral Theses
The rising interest in personalized health monitoring has created a demand for intelligent systems that not only evaluate an individual’s health status but also offer actionable recommendations. This dissertation presents a data-driven approach to assess overall health by calculating a weekly health score using multi-dimensional data sources such as sleep patterns, nutrition, cardiovascular activity, fitness levels, and metabolic parameters. The system integrates and processes data stored in MongoDB using Python, applies scoring logic tailored to each health domain, and aggregates them into a unified health score. Addi- tionally, the system generates a detailed summary and leverages a language model to …

Background
Optimizing human performance under stressful physical and cognitive conditions is paramount during high-stakes military operations. As such, interventions to improve warfighter performance by mitigating task-induced cognitive performance deficits are necessary. While caffeine is the most widely consumed psychoactive substance in the world, common side effects (i.e. anxiousness, micro-saccades, irritability) may be detrimental to warfighter operations. Theacrine, a purine alkaloid similar in structure to caffeine but with a longer half-life, less habituation, and fewer side effects, is proposed as a caffeine-alternative to enhance cognitive resilience.

Cornell Law Faculty Working Papers
The National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) deteriorates from constitutional attacks and political sabotage. As labor law buckles, its preemption regime, a keystone of U.S. labor governance, has become unsustainable. This Article argues that labor law must flip its federal default by empowering and expanding state-level labor institutions and expanding gaps in NLRA preemption doctrine. Eighteen states already maintain NLRA-like statutory frameworks, and fourteen more recognize workers’ rights to unionize and act collectively as a state public policy. These under-examined laws hint at an alternative labor governance model in lieu of the NLRA.
Building on emerging preemption challenges, weaknesses in federal …

Ḥasan Āl-ʿĀiyḍ’S Stance Towards The Idrīsī Movement Opposing Ottomans 1908 – 1918 Ad / 1326 – 1336 Ah, Ali Awad Al Qutb Dr.
Journal of Arabic Sciences and Humanities
This study explores the stance of the Emir (i.e., Prince) of Assīr Ḥasan āl-ʿĀiyḍ towards the Idrīsī movement that erupted in late 1326 AH/ 1908 AD and opposed Ottomans. It carefully approaches the diachronic details pertinent to this stance and traces its developmental twists and turns. Although Emir Ḥasan took a position to support the Idrīsī movement in its early days, this position suddenly changed in 1329 AH / 1911 AD during the siege of Abha, such that Emir Hassan shifted from being a major supporter of the Idrīsī movement to be a supporter of Ottomans and an opponent of …

The Social, Administrative, And Economic Conditions In The City Of Jeddah From The Advent Of Islam Until The End Of The Abbasid Era, Noura Ibrahim Al-Dhuwaihir Dr.
Journal of Arabic Sciences and Humanities
Jeddah, located on the Red Sea coast, holds strategic and religious significance as the gateway to Mecca and a central hub between Asia and Africa. Its port served as a vital point for pilgrims and trade, yet its social and economic history has been largely overlooked by early Muslim historians, often only appearing in sources related to Mecca. This research aims to shed light on Jeddah’s historical role from the advent of Islam to the end of the Abbasid era. It focuses on two key cultural dimensions: social and economic conditions. The study examines the city’s population makeup, living standards, …

Stories Of California Mini-Corps Tutors: Exploring The Experiences Of Bilingual Latinx Early Preservice Teachers, Norma Rueda Santillanez
Dissertations
Restrictive language policies and practices in schools have racialized the experiences of bilingual Latinx early preservice teachers (EPSTs), leading many to internalize the belief that their language and culture are not valued. These deficit-based messages often influence their personal development and emerging professional identities. Despite the volume of scholarship about this pattern, little research has explored how this internalization shapes EPSTs’ perspectives as they move from being multilingual students educated in English-only environments to future credential program students and bilingual teachers. This critical qualitative case study examined this process as students engaged in school-based fieldwork through the California Mini-Corps program …
