Educators’ Perceptions Of Multitiered Systems Of Support For Improving Reading And Math Achievement In An Urban School District, Denice Yvonne Garrett
Educators’ Perceptions Of Multitiered Systems Of Support For Improving Reading And Math Achievement In An Urban School District, Denice Yvonne Garrett
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Multitiered systems of support (MTSS) has been shown to benefit students’ academic and behavioral performance in schools. However, despite 4 years of MTSS implementation in one local urban school district, English language arts (ELA) and math underachievement among students remained evident. Guided by Hall and Hord’s concerns-based adoption model, the purpose of this basic qualitative study was to explore educators’ perceptions of MTSS for improving ELA and math achievement in the local urban school district. Ten educators purposively sampled from the local district participated in semistructured interviews. Thematic analysis using inductive, open coding of the interview data was conducted. Themes …

Stock Market Responses To Us Presidential Cycles (2013–2025): From Blue To Red And Back Again?, Ajai Palanichamy
Critical Letters in Economics & Finance
This paper examines the role of presidential election periods and their effect on long-run interdependence and volatility of the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ Composite indices from 2013 to early 2025. The study comprises four subsamples that cover four US Presidential Administrations, namely, the second term of President Obama, the first term of President Trump, the first term of President Biden, and the initial stage of the second term of President Trump, examining daily closing prices. The GARCH (1,1) model is implemented to examine volatility patterns. The evidence shows how market volatility differs in different election years, with the most …

The Association Of Anxiety, Familial Dysfunction, And Child Emotion Regulation Between Family Therapy Sessions 1 And 4, Kaelie Noel Lemmon
The Association Of Anxiety, Familial Dysfunction, And Child Emotion Regulation Between Family Therapy Sessions 1 And 4, Kaelie Noel Lemmon
Theses and Dissertations
Few studies address how relational factors may be interdependent and impact child-focused problems that could be collectively addressed in systemic family therapy. The current study utilized a cross-lagged panel model to explore the associations of parental anxiety, familial dysfunction, and child emotion regulation between four family therapy sessions. The study included 224 parents who sought family therapy and participated in the Marriage and Family Therapy Practice Research Network (MFT-PRN). Data were collected at two time points across four family therapy sessions. The findings indicated that higher levels of parental anxiety at intake were associated with higher familial dysfunction at session …
A Dendrite Equivalence Relation On Loop Spaces, Spencer Arnesen
A Dendrite Equivalence Relation On Loop Spaces, Spencer Arnesen
Theses and Dissertations
In Definition 2.0.3 we define an equivalence relation on paths such that two paths into a space X are related if doing the first, then the second backwards factors as a loop through a dendrite. This equivalence relation induces a group structure L(X) on a large subset of the loop space of X, namely all loops that have a unique reduced representative. We show that certain continuous maps induce a homomorphism between dentropy groups and that projection from three-dimensional real space to two-dimensional real space does not induce a homomorphism on dentropy groups.. We show that dentropy groups are locally …

Male Caregiving Experience Alters Hippocampal Neuroplasticity And Transcription Independent Of Reproduction In A Biparental Species., Maria E Colt, Priyanka Agarwal, Erica R Glasper, Heidi Fisher
Faculty Research 2025
In mammals, measurable changes in brain and behavior accompany the transition to parenthood. In the biparental California mouse, Peromyscus californicus, fathers experience enhanced neuroplasticity, including increased hippocampal dendritic spine density, reduced anxiety, and improved memory. Here, we first investigate whether siring offspring or pup interaction drives structural neuroplasticity in fathers and find that hippocampal spine density is positively associated with caregiving experience, even in the absence of reproduction. Next, we evaluate the transcriptional response to caregiving in the hippocampus of these males and identify 158 differentially expressed genes between fathers and non-fathers, many of which are associated with neurogenesis, neuronal …

Anthropology Laboratory - Archive
The Anthropology Laboratory of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at UTA houses the archaeological collections of many sites from Texas and around the world. These objects reflect the technology, culture, and values of past people. Studying them can tell us about the decisions those people made and reminds us of the breadth of human achievements.
In 2024, Anthropology students at UTA developed a database for these objects and began recording basic attributes of the collections to make them more accessible to the public. Many volunteers contributed to this database (and are listed as authors here). Data are provided here …

Explorerit: An Interactive Timeline Of The History Of Rit, Melson Miranda
Theses
Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) has a rich architectural and cultural history spanning over 57 years and the Henrietta Campus has more than 75 buildings, yet there is no central, engaging platform for exploring this heritage. This thesis, exploreRIT, addresses that gap by designing an interactive timeline that showcases the evolution of the campus through detailed building stories, architectural milestones, and contextual events. Using a Microsoft Surface Studio as a kiosk and a custom interface, the project integrates micro-interactions inspired by Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines, visual storytelling, and clear information architecture to create a tactile, accessible experience. Through iterative prototyping, …

The Governor’S Cabinet Project A Study Of The Evolution Of The Executive Branch, Revis. L. Edmonds
The Governor’S Cabinet Project A Study Of The Evolution Of The Executive Branch, Revis. L. Edmonds
Theses and Dissertations
In Arkansas’s long path toward modernizing its executive branch, it may appear to the casual observer that the state was locked in a process in which its politics and its culture were engaged in a longstanding tug-of-war between traditionalists and modernizers—a conflict complicated by the state’s personality-based politics and restrictive post-Reconstruction constitution. It has often been asserted that the conflict, in Arkansas’s case the romanticizing of rural life as opposed to the economic and social interests of the fast-growing suburbs of Central and Northwest Arkansas, explains a great deal of this slow transition. This attitude was largely a product of …
Rethinking Cognitive Load: Validating A Two-Factor Framework Of Cognitive Load Across Problem-Solving Formats With Differing Levels Of Guidance, Camden Noelle Patterson
Rethinking Cognitive Load: Validating A Two-Factor Framework Of Cognitive Load Across Problem-Solving Formats With Differing Levels Of Guidance, Camden Noelle Patterson
Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive
Cognitive Load Theory has recently been revised to exclude germane load as a distinct construct, prompting a re-evaluation of intrinsic and extraneous load measures. This study tested the psychometric validity and predictive utility of a two-factor cognitive load model during algebra problem-solving with worked examples or independent practice. Confirmatory and exploratory factor analyses supported the structural validity of two established instruments (Leppink et al., 2013; Krieglstein et al., 2023) when germane load items were removed. Regression analyses indicated no significant differences in cognitive load or learning outcomes between instructional groups. However, pre-test performance strongly predicted post-test scores, and intrinsic and …
The Relation Between Systems Of Support And Self-Regulated Learning On Academic Achievement In Middle Schoolers, Emma Claire Gunnett
The Relation Between Systems Of Support And Self-Regulated Learning On Academic Achievement In Middle Schoolers, Emma Claire Gunnett
Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive
The purpose of this study was to examine the closest and most important systems of support available to middle school students, their parents and teachers, and to better understand how specific aspects of parenting (support for autonomy and involvement) and teaching (support for autonomy, and emotional and academic support) may contribute to the student’s self-regulated learning and achievement in mathematics. Previous research has focused primarily on evaluating students as individuals or looking at only one relationship, whereas this study sought to expand on the current literature by evaluating the relationships between students and teachers as well as students and their …
Quantitative Geomorphic Analyses Of Neotectonic Activity In The Central U.S. And Implications For Current Increased Seismicity, Samia Noor
Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive
This regional reconnaissance compares vector and scalar geomorphic indicators (transverse drainage basin asymmetry (TI), hypsometric integral (HI), and stream sinuosity index (SI)) in Kansas and Oklahoma to assess neotectonic geomorphology and explore the spatial association between geomorphic indices and basement structure. The study is motivated by both an observed increase in seismicity in the area between 2009 and 2019 and the gap in studies of deformation in this region. In Kansas and Oklahoma, 1,697 and 950 4th-order basins, respectively, were analyzed by TI to generate mean vectors, each representing average local TI direction and magnitude. Geographic ‘domains’ of preferred azimuthal …

Bclaf1 Is A Novel Regulator Of Hematopoietic Stem Cells, Stephanie Crowley
Bclaf1 Is A Novel Regulator Of Hematopoietic Stem Cells, Stephanie Crowley
Arts & Sciences Graduate Student Theses and Dissertations
Hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) maintain both a self-renewal capacity to persist throughout life and an ability to differentiate into mature cell lineages. HSC self-renewal programs are often ectopically activated in leukemia cells to sustain developmental arrest and neoplastic proliferation. Recently, the transcriptional regulator Bclaf1 (Bcl2 associated transcription factor 1) was shown to support proliferation and block differentiation of AML blasts. Bclaf1 is ubiquitously expressed in hematopoietic cells but its function in normal hematopoiesis has not been elucidated. Our data demonstrate that BCLAF1 promotes HSC development and function. To study the role of BCLAF1 in normal HSCs, we used murine models …

The Role Of The Poly-N Repeat In The Plasmodium Falciparum Histone Acetyltransferase Protein, Pfgcn5, Kely Johana Rubiano Cardona
Arts & Sciences Graduate Student Theses and Dissertations
P. falciparum possesses the most AT-rich genome sequenced to date, with long AAT repeats coding for asparagines (N) in intragenic regions. As a result, nearly a quarter of its proteome is composed of proteins with poly-N repeats. Since the discovery of its genome, the function of these repeats has remained as one of the biggest mysteries in the biology of this parasite. Furthermore, it has long been known that proteins with N-rich domains aggregate easily, particularly during heat stress (HS). Given that the hallmark of this disease is recurrent febrile episodes, it is not well understood how the parasite survives …
