BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) reduces mortality in esophageal variceal hemorrhage. Whether the COVID-19 pandemic worsened existing disparities in outcomes among patients undergoing TIPS remains unclear. We aimed to characterize racial, payer-based, and income-based disparities in post-TIPS outcomes before and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

METHODS: Using the 2016-2022 National Inpatient Sample, we conducted a retrospective cohort analysis of 31,860 weighted hospitalizations of adults with cirrhosis and esophageal variceal hemorrhage who underwent TIPS. The spatial and energetic encoding of allosteric regulatory sites remains a major challenge in structural biology, frequently representing a “blind spot” for sequence-based artificial intelligence (AI) models. We present a protein language model (PLM)-guided approach complemented by the energy landscape frustration analysis as a dual-stream framework to investigate the relationship between AI prediction of binding sites and biophysical organization of regulatory pockets across the human kinome. This dissertation attempts to determine what factors may lead to auditors trusting an AI system. Established models of trust show that traits of the individual user, the system, and the situation all have effects on trust. Prior accounting research also indicates that professional skepticism is an important trait in auditors. Purpose: Percutaneous thermal ablation of hypervascular liver tumors is limited by lesion conspicuity on conventional imaging, challenges with ablative margin assessment, and unequal global access to advanced technologies such as ablation confirmation software and radioembolization. This review describes the selective intra-arterial lipiodol injection (SIALI) technique, its technical variations across institutions, and summarizes published clinical outcomes for SIALI-guided thermal ablation of hepatic malignancies.

Accessibility - accommodation of diverse sensory, motor, cognitive, and linguistic needs - remains critically underrepresented in computing education despite broad societal acknowledgment of its importance. This position paper argues that systemic inequities and persistent barriers to integrating accessibility and inclusion - ranging from curricular inertia to limited faculty capacity - require new methodological approaches drawn from Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research. HCI provides tested frameworks that pair participatory design with inclusive pedagogy, guided by empirical evaluation to drive systemic change. The purpose of this exploratory sequential mixed methods study was to understand how Independent Educational Consultants (IECs) define their roles and practices in supporting college-bound high school students, and to examine the extent to which those practices predicted college access outcomes. Using a qualitative-first design (QUAL → quant), Phase 1 consisted of semi-structured interviews with 23 IECs exploring role conceptualization, advising strategies, and college access disparities. Under the HSTPA, a landlord may not withdraw a previously offered preferential rent in a renewal lease. Tenant was entitled to a renewal lease at the preferential rent paid by the predecessor tenant of record. A 2006 DHCR settlement and rent order did not constitute increases 'authorized by law' under RSL §26-511(c)(14), and the DHCR order had no preclusive effect against tenant, who had not been a party to the prior proceeding and had not had a full and fair opportunity to litigate.

Under 24 C.F.R. §5.2005(a), landlords receiving federal funding must provide current VAWA notice with any notification terminating tenancy in covered housing. The VAWA requirements apply regardless of the theory of eviction, including an expired-lease holdover.

The court rejected the petitioner's argument that a list of the names of people allegedly impacted by the tenant's conduct is evidentiary material beyond the scope of a bill of particulars, applying an important distinction between mere witnesses and content that constitutes the petitioner's prima facie case. The court also held that a bill of particulars is an appropriate vehicle to obtain dates and times of alleged incidents of misconduct.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains the leading cause of dementia worldwide and an escalating global health crisis. The hallmark amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles (NFT) are now known to be accompanied by a complex array of pathologies that culminate in neurodegeneration and cognitive decline. New disease-modifying therapies for AD can now slow cognitive decline through the removal of amyloid plaques from the brain, but treatments to stop or prevent cognitive impairment remain elusive.
