Cervical cancer is one of the leading causes of death among Karen women, a predominant ethnic group in Myanmar. One of the largest and fastest growing Karen populations in the United States is located in Omaha, Nebraska. Background: The 2010 Affordable Care Act (ACA) catalyzed a shift toward value-based care. This introduced reimbursement penalties tied to hospital performance metrics, such as the Hospital Readmission Reduction Program (HRRP) which deducts reimbursement for institutions with excessive 30-day readmission rates. Although more than 25% of hospital readmissions are considered potentially avoidable, the methods of evaluation are often inconsistent, and overlook medically complex patients and those who experience recurrent readmissions.

Objective: To identify methodologies used in current 30-day readmission studies and to propose improved methodological framework for population inclusion, demographic considerations, and statistical analysis to allow for proper risk stratification.

This paper brings together insights about veteran entrepreneurial ecosystems from Military Entrepreneurship Forum (MEF) roundtable conversations, the National Survey of Military-Affiliated Entrepreneurs (NSMAE), and other entrepreneurship research. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all solution, this paper lays out a set of components that communities can use to strengthen their own ecosystems. Adolescents with special health care needs (ASHCNs) must develop self-management skills to effectively transition into adult-based care. This requires having the self-efficacy to meet with their health care provider independent of caregivers. This study aims to identify the factors associated with self-efficacy in meeting with a provider alone among ASHCN preparing for this transition.Eighty-three English-speaking 18-year olds with renal, gastrointestinal, neurologic, or rheumatologic diseases, and their English- or Spanish-speaking caregivers were recruited at a large children's hospital, and completed a one-time assessment as the historical control group for a larger intervention study. Suspected infection requiring hospitalisation has highly heterogenous presentation. Yet, variances in host response and its implications are largely unknown. In this multicentre cohort of 3802 individual patients presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) with suspected infection requiring hospitalisation, we apply uniform manifold approximation and projections and K-means clustering to 29 plasma proteins to identify biologically discrete host response clusters. In this work, we first describe two large clusters, called "Dysregulated" and "Undifferentiated", with abnormal protein concentrations and adverse outcomes in the former. The capabilities of large language models (LLMs) have advanced to the point where entire textbooks can be queried using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), enabling AI to integrate external, up-to-date information into its responses. This study evaluates the ability of two OpenAI models, GPT-3.5 Turbo and GPT-4 Turbo, to create and answer exam questions based on an undergraduate textbook. 14 exams were created with four true-false, four multiple-choice, and two short-answer questions derived from an open-source Pacific Studies textbook. Model performance was evaluated with and without access to the source material using text-similarity metrics such as ROUGE-1, cosine similarity, and word embeddings. …

This study examined the perceptions of counselors-in-training (CIT) on artificial intelligence (AI) in counseling practice and training. 31 CIT responded to three open-ended questions about the benefits, drawbacks, and overall attitudes of integrating AI into counseling practice and education. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the responses. The findings showed that CIT perceive AI as a clinical support tool, especially for tasks such as diagnosis and treatment planning. Additionally, CIT voiced concerns of potential overreliance on AI, ethical risks, confidentiality concerns, and the possible loss of human connection. This study explores the concordance and discordance between human researchers and ChatGPT in conducting Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) using an interview transcript with a refugee resettling in the United States. Findings revealed both alignment and discrepancies between ChatGPT and human researchers; while ChatGPT effectively identified themes and coding structures with interpretative depth and reflective engagement, it occasionally struggled to capture implicit meanings, particularly in narrative continuity and cultural-contextual analysis. These challenges were evident in its misinterpretation of past and present events, difficulty in recognizing nuanced associations, and tendency to adopt a deficit-based lens in certain analyses. Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly used in mental health care, yet counseling students receive little training in digital tool integration. This program evaluation describes the use of an ambient AI platform in a university telemental health clinic to support clinical training. The AI system tracked interventions, themes, talk ratios, and symptom changes across 175 sessions by 13 trainees with 93 clients. Most frequent interventions included validation (97.6%), CBT skills (52.1%), and action planning (63.1%). Counselor talk time averaged 43% of the session, with themes such as relationships and school being predominant in client talk time.. By session 7, clients showed …

Generative AI (genAI) is expanding in counselor education. This pilot study evaluated ChatGPT 4o's voice mode for simulating client scenarios during 53-minute mock-intake sessions with master’s-level counseling students. Analyzing eight domains (authenticity, consistency, emotional expression, empathy, cultural dynamics, self-awareness, goal setting, and role play confusion), ChatGPT’s responses showed good to excellent fidelity when compared to a typical client. Limitations such as formulaic and idealized responses raised authenticity concerns. ChatGPT offers a scalable, cost-effective tool for pre-practicum training, with potential to enhance skill development across the curriculum. Educators are encouraged to integrate genAI thoughtfully, prioritizing ethical considerations and iterative prompt refinement.

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into mental health care presents innovative opportunities for therapeutic interventions. This pilot study examined the use of a customized Artificial Intelligence Therapeutic Adjunct (AITA) as a supplementary counseling tool for adults with level one autism spectrum disorder who attended weekly counseling sessions. Using a Single Subject Design to review trends in mental health symptoms and perceptions of the AITA, participants engaged with the AITA over four weeks, completed weekly anxiety and depression assessments, and post-intervention and satisfaction surveys.
