The embodied experiences of burlesque performers during motherhood are explored in an online discussion, through femme theory, Bakhtin's grotesque body, and Butler's gender performativity. The participants' bodies are explored as sites of contestation, able to perform diverse roles simultaneously. Through performance, Mulvey's masculine gaze is inverted into a poetics of feminine praxis.

Montserrat is a small island in the Caribbean, and over half of the island is in the exclusion zone because of the active volcano, Soufrière Hills. In that half was the old capital, Plymouth, which has since been abandoned, and its old port. The old port was getting less reliable and accessible, so they decided to build a new port in Little Bay, closer to the seat of government in Brades. Nurses in residency programs participate in orientations that pair them with preceptors. The preceptors are experienced peers based on the units for which the residents are hired. Those encouraging and supportive relationships serve to onboard the nurse residents clinically, operationally, and socially. In a recent meta-analysis, Vo et al.¹ reported that most nursing students experienced moderate stress (42.1%) and mild to moderate anxiety (19.4%-25.1%). Both physiologic and psychological calming can be enhanced through controlled breathing techniques. Breathing techniques have emerged as potential tools for stress management and well-being. Controlled breathing influences respiratory rate by increasing vagal tone during slowed expiration.² This reduction in respiratory rate can enhance mood and reduce negative emotions such as state anxiety.²

A healthy work environment improves patient outcomes and promotes resiliency by supporting the wellbeing of the nurses. The purpose of our study was to describe labor and delivery nurses’ experiences in caring for patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. We used a descriptive phenomenological design and purposeful sampling to recruit experienced labor and delivery nurses for flexible semi-structured face-to-face audiotaped interviews. Constant comparison was used to analyze data. Ten nurses employed in a labor and delivery unit in two acute care hospitals in southern Texas participated and were interviewed from June through August 2022.

Firefighters, whose occupation involves intense physical, mental, and environmental demands, must be physically and mentally prepared to perform job-specific tasks effectively and safely. Nearly half of all injuries sustained on and off the fireground are musculoskeletal, highlighting issues in the preparation and maintenance strategies for work preparedness among firefighters. This case study examines the effectiveness of a 16-week conventional, conjugate strength and conditioning model on a fire recruit transitioning from a career as a professional MMA fighter. This study examined the acute effects of a bike fit using the idmatch^® system on power output, rate of perceived exertion (RPE), and discomfort in recreational cyclists. Background: Nurse staffing in the acute care setting remains turbulent and unstable, and there is increased evidence that the context within work environments may contribute to turnover. Contributing factors of this instability lead to burnout, including emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and a decreased sense of personal accomplishment. RNs who experience burnout are twice as likely to leave their bedside nursing job in comparison with RNs who are not experiencing burnout.
