Seasonal affective disorder (SAD), a type of depression linked to seasonal changes, primarily affects individuals during fall and winter. More insight was needed on the prevalence of SAD and the role of social support in moderating its impact on organizational outcomes. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between SAD and organizational outcomes, including employee well-being, absenteeism, job satisfaction, and productivity, in the Northeastern United States, where SAD symptoms are more prevalent due to environmental factors. This article explores assessment in the Kosovo primary education system, focusing on the content to be assessed and the methods used to measure student learning. The aim of this study is to explore how laughter is used as an interactional and socially situated discourse in Pakistani university classrooms at different academic levels. A total of 29 episodes of laughter, out of 32 observed classrooms, were documented through detailed field notes, analyzing how the laughter was initiated, processed, and regulated within the classroom. Classical Be stars are hot, luminous B-type stars characterized by hydrogen emission lines in their spectra. Among the most rapidly rotating stars known, they spin at 70-80% of their critical velocity, ejecting material into a circumstellar disk that produces these spectral features. Depending on viewing orientation, this can appear as either strong emission or sharp absorption lines. Be star variability arises from several sources, including disk instabilities, extreme rotation, and gravitational interactions with binary companions. The spread of tau pathology across the cerebral cortex is closely tied to cognitive decline in Alzheimer's disease (AD). To investigate mechanisms underlying tau spread, we measured bioactivity of tau seeds from inferior temporal gyrus (ITG) and superior frontal gyrus (SFG) synaptosomes in 128 individuals and demonstrated that tau seed bioactivity associates with tau phosphorylation, neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs), and cognitive impairment. Incorporating genotype data from the same individuals within a Mendelian randomization framework showed that tau seeds in ITG induce NFTs locally as well as drive tau seeds and NFTs in SFG. BACKGROUNDSepsis is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in critically ill children, yet heterogeneous immune responses complicate the development of targeted therapies and the host immune factors driving sepsis pathobiology remain unclear.METHODSWe integrated deep immune phenotyping, plasma proteomics, single-cell transcriptomics, and phosphoflow cytometry in a prospective cohort of 88 critically ill children to elucidate the mechanisms underlying immune heterogeneity.RESULTSUnsupervised clustering of plasma cytokines identified 3 immunologic subgroups, including a high-severity group ("Group C") characterized by hypercytokinemia driven by IL-6 and IFN-γ.
