The University of New Orleans Survey Research Center (SRC) conducted a live interviewer telephone poll of likely voters in Orleans Parish. A total of 409 randomly selected respondents were interviewed between September 20th and September 24th.

A likely voter was defined as an individual who voted in at least four of the last ten elections where turnout was above 10 percent. 1 In addition, individuals who voted in three of the last ten elections and participated in the 2021 mayoral election were included in the sampling frame. Root exudates (REs), a diverse array of bioactive metabolites secreted by plant roots in response to environmental stimuli, serve as key mediators of rhizosphere ecology and plant defense responses, offering a promising avenue for sustainable pest management and eco-friendly plant protection. While earlier reviews primarily focus on root exudates in the context of general rhizosphere dynamics and plant-microbial interactions, critical knowledge gaps persist in REs-plant-pest tripartite interactions, the mechanistic basis of REs-mediated plant defense, and their practical integration with integrated pest management (IPM) frameworks. This report assesses the current workloads and staffing of California public defense providers. The report concludes that California’s public defense attorneys are almost universally burdened by workloads that far exceed nationally recommended standards. Additionally, compared to district attorneys’ offices in the same jurisdictions, public defender offices typically have 20-45% fewer attorneys.

This report also details how public defense providers in California also lack the appropriate support staff – investigators, social workers, paralegals, and administrative assistants – necessary to efficiently and effectively represent their clients. The wild-catch fishing industry plays a significant role in Western Australia’s economy, particularly in regional communities. This report summarises the economic contribution of the commercial wild-catch fishing sector in 2024, based on REMPLAN’s input-output (I-O) modelling methodology and DPIRD data and analysis. This report focuses on key economic indicators including total economic output, gross value added (GVA), and employment (FTEs).

Background: Depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are prevalent among healthcare workers (HCWs), including those from sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). However, there are limited summary data on the burden and factors associated with these disorders in this region. We conducted this systematic review (registration no. ABSTRACT Objectives: To measure the pressure exerted on the base of the tongue during endotracheal intubation using a standard pediatric model. Methods: The study was conducted in October–November 2022 at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation, Ankara, Turkey. Anesthesiology residents performed intubations with Glidescope ® -LoPro-T2, Storz ® -C-MAC-paediatric-D-blade, and standard-Macintosh-1-blade on the same pediatric intubation model. The force exerted on the base of the tongue was measured during intubation using a force sensor. Objective

We sought to determine whether fetal myocardial performance index (MPI) performed in the late third trimester could predict abnormal intrapartum cardiotocographic (CTG) patterns.

Methods

A prospective observational study including women presenting for fetal growth ultrasound from 32 weeks. Three consecutive measurements of the left ventricular MPI were obtained and averaged. The patients’ intrapartum CTG events were later observed.

Results

A total of 299 women were analyzed. The fetal MPI across the population were 0.41, 0.50 and 0.63, representing 10th, 50th and 90th centiles, respectively. A one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) did not show a significant difference in MPI values …

Introduction: We aimed to evaluate long-term outcomes following tracheostomy in older trauma patients and hypothesized that 1-year survival decreases with older age.

Methods: This was a descriptive analysis of intensive care unit patients ≥65 y old who underwent tracheostomy from 2015 to 2020. The National Death Index was accessed to determine time from tracheostomy creation to death. Groups were categorized by age. The primary outcome was 1-year mortality. Survival by age strata was analyzed using the Kaplan-Meier method.

Results: Of 205 eligible patients, 125 (61%) were 65-74, 68 (33%) were 75-84, and 12 (6%) were >85 y old. Median injury …

Vermicomposting is an effective and eco-friendly method of converting biodegradable materials into fertilizers that promote plant growth and development. This study aimed to assess the efficiency and quality of vermicompost and vermiworms produced using combinations of biodegradable farm materials in agroforestry systems. The materials used for the 6 treatments included combinations of the following materials: fresh leaves of leguminous plants (Gliricidia sepium, Flemingia macrophylla, and Senna spectabilis), fresh cattle manure, and other plant materials (rice straw and banana trunk). This study compared gonad development between wild-sourced and hatchery-bred silver therapon Leiopotherapon plumbeus. Wild fish from the east bay area of Laguna de Bay, Philippines, and hatchery-bred stocks grown to adult size in outdoor tanks were sampled, and somatic condition, gonad histology, gonadosomatic index (GSI), gut index (GI), and hepatosomatic index (HSI) were assessed during the annual reproductive cycle. Hatcherybred fish condition was generally better than that of wild-sourced fish as a consequence of readily available food resources and environmental conditions. Extremely diversified cropping environments prevail in most cotton-growing areas of Pakistan due to prevailing rainfed conditions, prolonging the crop’s cultivation period. To contribute to the development of desired breeding traits for effective breeding programs, this study examined the production and growth pattern of 8 cotton genotypes. Four experiments were conducted in 2018 and 2019 at 2 locations in Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan, to evaluate the performance of the studied genotypes at 3 plant densities and 2 sowing dates.
