Procedures For Rangeland Condition Assessment In The Pilbara And Southern Rangelands 2025, Department Of Primary Industries And Regional Development, Western Australia

Natural resources published reports

This report defines the procedures used in 2025 by DPIRD to complete rangeland condition assessment (RCA) in the Pilbara and southern rangelands region which has predominantly shrub-based pastures. For the rest of the pastoral estate, DPIRD uses the Procedures for RCA in the Kimberley which has grass pastures.

RCA is the process DPIRD uses to make systematic, station-level assessment of rangeland. Rangeland condition considers both the condition of pastures (defined in the ‘Pasture condition guides for the Pilbara’ and ‘Pasture condition guides for the southern rangelands including the Gascoyne, Murchison and Goldfields-Nullarbor’) and soils as determined by erosion, using the …

Perceived School Climate Norms Of Equality, Perspective-Taking And Youth Collective And Civic Actions, Shelley Mckeown, Cd Schaefer, Jaysan Charlesford, Thia Sagherian-Dickey, Gian Antonio Di Bernardo, Loris Vezzali

School of Psychology

Schools can play a crucial role in encouraging young people to make constructive societalcontributions that transcend group lines and that benefit communities more generally.Recognising this potential, the present research examined the relationship between perceivedschool climate norms of equality, and in turn perspective-taking on two forms of constructivecontributions amongst youth in England: civic engagement and collective action intentions insupport of refugees. A total of 696 youth (aged 11 to 12) were asked to complete a survey inschool as part of a larger study on youth interaction experiences. Bootstrapped mediationanalysis conducted in Mplus found that perspective-taking mediated the link between perceivedschool climate …

Early Phase Testing Of Functional Imagery Training As An Intervention For Anxiety, Jackie Andrade, D. J. Kavanagh, Carly Bowditch, Emily Mackriel, Emily Ravenshill, Amy Sime, Eleanor Trumfield, Jessica Watts, Jon May Sep 2025

Early Phase Testing Of Functional Imagery Training As An Intervention For Anxiety, Jackie Andrade, D. J. Kavanagh, Carly Bowditch, Emily Mackriel, Emily Ravenshill, Amy Sime, Eleanor Trumfield, Jessica Watts, Jon May

School of Psychology

Cognitive models hypothesize a role for motivated behaviour in anxiety disorders, with safety behaviours leading to exaggerated threat appraisals and increased anticipatory anxiety. Based on the Affective Imagery Theory of Motivation, we propose that increasing motivation for engagement behaviours will reduce motivation for safety behaviours through competition for limited capacity cognitive resources supporting motivational imagery. We hypothesise that imagining successful engagement will reduce anxiety directly, and through promoting subsequent engagement. We present preliminary evidence that functional imagery training (FIT), an intervention that develops and teaches motivational imagery, reduces anxiety. FIT was delivered to undergraduates with anxiety in one session lasting …

School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics

Floating offshore wind turbines are expected to be deployed in significant numbers across the globe in the coming decades, with wet towing of these structures between ports and farms a key operation in their installation, maintenance, and decommissioning. Platforms are likely to be towed across large distances, and accurate understanding of tow dynamics will be crucial to optimising these journeys to minimise costs, timescales, emissions, and risk. This paper presents experimental and ship simulator modelling of the oceanic towing of the IEA 15 MW turbine on the UMaine VolturnUS-S platform. The work provides indicative data for floating offshore wind turbines …

Strategies For Out-Of-School Time Stem Educators Working With Youth Experiencing Diverse Abilities, Joelle Lemer, Rasha Elsayed, Kirsten Daehler, Nena Bloom

Journal of Youth Development

Out-of-school time learning occurs in a variety of settings including formal-learning environments, such as afterschool programs, or informal-learning environments, such as museums or youth clubs. Educators in out-of-school time contexts serve diverse youth populations. Many educators often have limited experience or preparation in how to support STEM learning, particularly with learners experiencing diverse physical and/or sensory abilities, such as mobility, dexterity, vision, or hearing. The purpose of this article is to share research-to-practice strategies for STEM in out-of-school time settings for professionals working with youth experiencing diverse physical and/or sensory abilities. These strategies are derived from a review of available …

How Young People Mobilize Social Capital Within Youth-Serving Organizations, Erica J. Van Steenis, Brian Lightfoot, Ashley Boat, Miray Seward

Journal of Youth Development

Youth-serving practitioners can incorporate organizational and programmatic approaches to support young people in strengthening their social capital. Through a robust network of support, young people can successfully transition to postsecondary education and obtain meaningful career opportunities. One way practitioners can support young people’s social capital is by leveraging their social-capital mobilization (i.e., the way relationships and resources are accessed and used to accomplish goals). Informed by an adapted version of the institutional space framework, the current study draws on insights from qualitative focus groups centered around social-capital mobilization within six education and workforce development programs. Data come from the perspectives …

Media And Mindfulness: Associations Between Adolescent Mindful Social Media Use, Chenae Christensen-Duerden, Sarah Coyne

Journal of Youth Development

The objective of this study is to examine social media mindfulness and other social media habits as predictors of depression in adolescents. As depression and poor mental health increase for American adolescents, so does the research surrounding the positive outcomes associated with mindfulness. It is possible that mindfulness could be an effective tool in managing individual social media habits, however, very little research exists exploring the effects of mindfulness on media use. The sample for the current study includes a national quota sample of 1,158 adolescents (between the ages of 10 and 17 years old) from the United States. Participants …
