Aberrant levels or structures of RNA isoforms are a hallmark of many cancers, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML), yet their role in AML chemoresistance remains unclear. We conducted a paired analysis of RNA isoform changes in patients with AML before therapy and at relapse after chemotherapy and identified intragenic DNA methylation at the proximal promoter of the transcription factor RUNX1, which resulted in elevated expression of the long-isoform RUNX1C through its alternative distal promoter. The unique N-terminal region of RUNX1C orchestrated an isoform-specific transcriptional program that promoted chemoresistance, with its direct target BTG2 playing a role in chemotherapy resistance. …

Stemphylium leaf spot (SLP), caused by Stemphylium vesicarium, has emerged as an increasing threat to spinach production in the United States, with widespread outbreaks reported across major spinach-growing regions over the past two decades. The objectives of this study were to: (1) evaluate global USDA spinach germplasm collections and commercial cultivars for resistance to S. vesicarium; (2) perform genome-wide association studies (GWAS) to identify genomic regions associated with resistance; and (3) conduct genomic prediction (GP) to enhance selection accuracy. BACKGROUND: Spectrophotometric testing to detect sample hemolysis is available from central laboratory chemistry analyzers. While the cause and preventative measures are known, hemolysis continues to be a common preanalytical error, especially for specimens collected from the emergency department (ED) and intensive care units (ICUs) where point-of-care analyzers are commonly used for whole blood electrolyte testing. Recently, these analyzers have employed technology to detect hemolysis directly on whole blood samples.

The Sea Ice for Walrus Outlook (SIWO) is a collaborative information-sharing network that delivers weekly springtime updates on sea ice and weather conditions relevant to walrus habitat in the Bering Strait region of Alaska. Launched in 2010, SIWO shares Indigenous Knowledge from Alaska Native sea-ice experts alongside custom forecasts and imagery from the National Weather Service Alaska, the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and the Alaska Ocean Observing System. Weekly reports incorporate community-based observations, satellite imagery, 7-day forecasts, and animated current and ice movement models to inform subsistence hunters and support maritime safety. Students from low-income backgrounds comprise almost a third of undergraduate enrollment, but most colleges are designed poorly to support these students. This misalignment between the characteristics and needs of students from low-income backgrounds and the typical college environment leads to disproportionately low matriculation, persistence, and graduation rates for this population. This literature review provides an overview of common challenges faced by students from low-income backgrounds and characteristics of these students (including strengths). This literature review concludes by providing an overview of some student-focused initiatives from orientation, first-year seminars, peer mentoring, and others that can help mitigate these challenges and improve …

Utilizing constructivist interpretive inquiry, this study examined the role of student employment in the Division of Student Affairs for four current undergraduate students. Findings indicate that student employment provided an important space for student employees to develop an identity-centric sense of self, a sense of belonging, and benefit from culturally competent supervision. Implications for practice are discussed to better facilitate student affairs employment as a place of intentionality and development.

Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution empowers Congress “[t]o establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization.” In Part I of this article, I discuss the American colonial experience with naturalization laws and account for the Naturalization Clause’s. I then examine the historical development of Congress’s “uniform rule” and deconstruct the mechanism by which certain groups have been excluded from and brought back within its reach. Lastly, I scrutinize Congress’s posture towards expatriation, the logical converse of naturalization. Kamo-no-Chômei and Saigyô,two of Japan’s most well-known aesthete-recluses and open a window through their works not only into the life of the recluse as an individual but also into the broader culture. The following pages will attempt to shed light on the overall concept of reclusion and its importance by looking specifically at what they had to say about their own experiences: Saigyô through his collected poems, and Chômei through his seminal poetic essay Hôjôki “Ten-Foot- Square Hut”, written in 1212.

Since traditional approaches to the treatment of adult psychological disorders are ineffective with youth, alternative approaches to treatment of youth psychological disorders must be considered. Generally, people tend to believe that they are poor at remembering vital information while simultaneously displaying a tendency to overestimate their performance on memory tests. People display the usage of their metamemory, the control and awareness of memory, by monitoring and reporting how much information they have accurately remembered. Predicting the outcome of test scores is one way of testing metamemory, but this does not address how a person’s trust in their memory relates to their perceptions of how they performed on a test. Measles-associated hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis is a rare and life-threatening condition, particularly in immunocompromised individuals. This case report discusses the management and successful treatment of a 21-month-old unvaccinated male with Down syndrome who developed secondary Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis during follow-up for pneumonia and respiratory failure. The patient presented with rashes, fever, and cough. Despite initial treatment for pneumonia, he developed respiratory failure, requiring transfer to the pediatric intensive care unit. Physical examination revealed a toxic appearance, bilateral coarse crackles, hepatosplenomegaly, and several mobile cervical lymphadenopathies. Transmission typically occurs through droplets or direct contact, particularly in children and adolescents, with peaks during winter and spring. In late 2022, the UK reported a sharp increase in GAS cases, with 24 children under 10 dying from the infection. BACKGROUND - This case series details the novel use of the Perclose ProGlide closure device to successfully repair three separate cases of iatrogenic femoral pseudoaneurysms (PSAs) without attempting other modalities first. Conventional treatment methods of ultrasound-guided compression, duplex-directed thrombin injection (DDTI), or open surgical repair were contraindicated in these patients due to unique anatomy or advanced comorbidities.
