Efficacy Of Doacs Vs. Lmwh For Cancer-Associated Acute Venous Thromboembolism: A Meta-Analysis, Sung Chien Mei, Ou Ya Wen, Chao Li Chi
Efficacy Of Doacs Vs. Lmwh For Cancer-Associated Acute Venous Thromboembolism: A Meta-Analysis, Sung Chien Mei, Ou Ya Wen, Chao Li Chi
International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)
Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in cancer patients, with an incidence rate 4 to 7 times higher than in the general population. This increased risk is linked to cancer and its treatments. Low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) has been the traditional treatment for cancer-related VTE, but subcutaneous administration presents adherence challenges. Direct Oral Anticoagulants (DOACs), such as dabigatran, rivaroxaban, apixaban, and edoxaban, have emerged as alternatives with oral administration, predictable pharmacodynamics, and no need for regular monitoring. This meta-analysis assesses the efficacy and safety of DOACs …
Cross-Cultural Adaptation And Validation Of Social Abuse Scale In South Korea And Turkey, Kader Tekkas-Kerman, Sihyun Park
Cross-Cultural Adaptation And Validation Of Social Abuse Scale In South Korea And Turkey, Kader Tekkas-Kerman, Sihyun Park
International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)
Background: Intimate partner violence (IPV) is a pervasive issue worldwide (United Nations, 2024). Various forms of IPV have been investigated (Henry et al., 2021), including the recently explored concept of social abuse. Social abuse refers to the intentional act of violating an individual’s rights and needs for social belonging within an intimate relationship (Park & Jeon, 2022). These actions can lead to a myriad of negative effects on the victims’ mental health and social relationships, as well as result in the victims’ social isolation (Stoff et al., 2021). Recently, we have developed an English version of the Social Abuse …
Examining Latent Class Variations In Adult Women Diagnosed With Pelvic Congestion Syndrome, Sarah E. Patel, Steven R. Chesnut
Examining Latent Class Variations In Adult Women Diagnosed With Pelvic Congestion Syndrome, Sarah E. Patel, Steven R. Chesnut
International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)
Purpose: Pelvic pain is a classic textbook symptom of pelvic congestion syndrome (PCS). Historically, PCS pain has been described as dull and achy. Yet, women’s PCS pain experience and description may differ from classic textbook presentations. In recent work, women’s PCS pain profiles are either intense and debilitating or mild but consistent. Women in the intense and debilitating group reported pain as intense, unbearable, sharp, stabbing, shooting, sickening, and exhausting, while women in the mild but consistent class reported pain as nagging, troublesome, tiring, aching, and pressing. These differences may explain variability between groups of women with PCS …
Validation Of A Nursing Workload Tool To Improve Staffing In A Pediatric Hospital, Julie Van Orne, Kaylan Branson
Validation Of A Nursing Workload Tool To Improve Staffing In A Pediatric Hospital, Julie Van Orne, Kaylan Branson
International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)
Nursing workload encompasses the full range of tasks nurses must complete, including direct and indirect patient care and workplace responsibilities.1 High workload has been associated with increased stress, reduced job satisfaction, and a greater risk of patient harm.2-3 Excessive workloads limit time for assessments, critical thinking, and effective communication, all essential to preventing harm.4-5 Shifting from patient acuity to workload metrics is a strategy for managing nurse workloads and supporting better outcomes. In a pediatric hospital, nurse leaders transitioned from a patient acuity system to one incorporating nurse workload for nurse assignments. The project aimed to validate …
Take The Vitals Of Council Health! Re-Empowering Shared Governance, Justin Peterson, David Smith, Kristiina Hyrkas
Take The Vitals Of Council Health! Re-Empowering Shared Governance, Justin Peterson, David Smith, Kristiina Hyrkas
International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)
Background: In our academic Magnet® hospital, we have six shared governance councils including an active Interprofessional Research and Innovations council (IRIC). The nursing council structure serves as the nexus between organizational planning and frontline delivery of healthcare. Like the patients we provide care for, the health of our councils need periodic checks for intended function and health. The current literature has suggested that by surveying council members, especially during times of change, we can gain insight into the strengths and areas for potential improvements as they relate to council structure, processes, and outcomes. Our organization merged in 2024 with two …
Hmongcentric Niche Charter Schools: The Role Of Social Capital On Students’ Perceived Academic Competence, Zha Blong Xiong, Ting Xu, Kyle Nickodem, Malina Her
Hmongcentric Niche Charter Schools: The Role Of Social Capital On Students’ Perceived Academic Competence, Zha Blong Xiong, Ting Xu, Kyle Nickodem, Malina Her
Journal of Southeast Asian American Education and Advancement
Using Coleman’s (1988) social capital theory, this study investigated the connection between family and school social capital and the perceived academic competence of students enrolled in Hmongcentric niche charter schools. The study analyzed 124 participants consisting of third, fourth, and fifth-grade students residing in Minnesota, with 93% identifying as Hmong. Results of structural equation modeling showed that school social capital, as measured by school attachment and school connection, is significantly linked to students’ perceived academic competence. Further analyses suggested that school attachment, especially in charter schools that focus on culture and language, plays a more crucial role in shaping students’ …
