Who Gets Stitches? The Effects Of Rewarding Whistleblowers And Protecting Their Identity On Subsequent Willingness To Work With Others, Ryan D. Sommerfeldt

Companies are strongly encouraged to implement whistleblowing programs to help detect and deter misconduct in organizations, but whistleblowers often face ostracism as their coworkers are less willing to work with them (the whistleblower effect). Rewarding the whistleblower and protecting the whistleblower’s identity are two highly recommended features of whistleblowing programs that aim to encourage reporting. Across two experiments, I examine the spillover effects of these whistleblowing program features on how willing employees are to work with their coworkers after reporting occurs. I find that providing a reward to the whistleblower exacerbates the whistleblower effect, leading employees to work even less …

Generative Artificial Intelligence has emerged as a transformative tool in healthcare by addressing persistent limitations in medical data availability, including annotation scarcity, privacy restrictions, and demographic underrepresentation. Instead of relying solely on real-world samples, generative models synthesize clinically realistic data that support model robustness, simulate rare conditions, and improve representation across patient groups. This review presents a comprehensive synthesis of four widely adopted generative model classes: Generative Adversarial Networks, Variational Autoencoders, Diffusion Models, and Transformer-based architectures. In addition, more than 600,000 people end up dying due to falls making them the second cause of accidental injury fatalities worldwide. Specifically, the elderly are more prone to fatal falls. This paper presents an intelligent AI test modeling framework for computer vision systems, focused on image-based systems. A three-dimensional (3D) model using decision tables enables model-based function testing, automated test data generation, and comprehensive coverage analysis. A case study using the Seek by iNaturalist application demonstrates the framework’s applicability to real-world CV tasks. It effectively identifies species and non-species under varying image conditions such as distance, blur, brightness, and grayscale. This study contributes a structured methodology that advances our academic understanding of model-based CV testing while offering practical tools for improving the robustness and reliability of AI-driven vision applications.

The murder of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk reignited an old debate in the United States: Are we approaching a turning point in political violence, or is this simply another flashpoint in a long, uneven history of partisan conflict?

Political scientists and commentators appear divided. Some warn of a spiraling wave of tit-for-tat violence, fueled by incendiary rhetoric and amplified by online echo chambers. Others emphasize that such acts are rare, often the work of lone actors rather than coordinated movements, and that the broader public overwhelmingly rejects violence as a political tool.

One emerging innovation is behavioral assessment software, designed to enhance both pre-employment screening and investigative interviewing. Acting as a form of modern human intelligence collection, these tools enable examiners and investigators to gather deeper insights directly from candidates and subjects, revealing behavioral cues and risk indicators that might otherwise remain hidden (Vrij, 2008).

Cold plasma (CP) technology has gained attention as a non-thermal, sustainable approach for microbial decontamination and functional enhancement in food systems. Conventional thermal processing methods often compromise food quality through nutrient degradation, textural changes, and the formation of harmful by-products. In contrast, cold plasma operates at near-room temperatures and utilizes ionized gases to generate reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS and RNS), which effectively inactivate microorganisms and enzymes without significant heat input. This study aims to address the issue by scrutinizing the demographic characteristics of patients, pinpointing the biological risk factors for long bone nonunion and evaluating the nonunion management effectiveness. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian survei. Populasi penelitian adalah semua guru MAN di Kabupaten Sleman yang berjumlah 234 orang. The rapid development of large anguage models (LLMs) has sparked growing interest in their potential to transform education. This study explores how LLMs influence collaborative learning, focusing on student creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and collective intelligence. Specifically, it investigates whether artificial intelligence (AI)–assisted group work enhances or hinders these aspects of the learning process. We used a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data from surveys, structured interviews, and analysis of student project outputs.
