Purpose: Worldwide, 1.28 billion adults between 30-79 years of age have Hypertension (HTN) (WHO, 2023). HTN is the most common medical diagnosis in the U.S. and individuals with social, economic, and cultural factors have higher prevalence and poor control of their ability to self-manage the disease (Ware, Chidume, & Chou, 2023). HTN has the highest risk for mortality related to cardiovascular disease (Cheng et al., 2022). Oral mucositis is one of the most prevalent and debilitating acute toxicities of radiotherapy-based treatment for patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) receiving concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT). Although it contributes to treatment interruptions, increased opioid use, nutritional compromise, and reduced quality of life, the ability to predict which patients will develop severe mucositis prior to or early in treatment remains limited. We aim to describe the incidence and severity of oral mucositis, measured by the MD Anderson Symptoms Inventory (MDASI) across treatment weeks in this cohort and analyze biological factors for mucositis, including biomarkers in the CBC with differential.

It is among the most common cancers in women and the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States. Black women face disproportionately higher mortality, underscoring the need for early, equitable screening.

Based on the concept of “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”, this study investigates the theoretical connotation and accounting pathways of ecological GDP. (1) The core connotation of ecological value is elucidated from three dimensions—time, space, and civilization—and an economic quantification framework of principal–interest–interest rate is constructed. With four categories of ecological products as the foundation, the Green Certificate as the entitlement instrument, and a 5% annual simple interest rate as the accounting benchmark, ecological value is transformed from qualitative description to quantitative accounting. Lunar exploration is undergoing a paradigm shift from resource mapping to mechanism identification. Key processes, such as the modulation of volatiles by magnetic anomalies and the contribution of Earth wind to surface hydration, require strictly synchronized observations of magnetic-field gradients, particle fluxes, spectrally detected volatiles, and subsurface hydrogen within the same spatiotemporal window. However, a still-unfilled “near-lunar-surface intermediate layer” gap exists between conventional single-spacecraft orbiters and landed rovers: the capability for multi-altitude, multi-parameter, strictly synchronized process observations. The experience of being “maxed out” reflects depletion across emotional, cognitive, physical, and relational domains that collectively determine human capacity. Nurses frequently encounter this state in themselves, colleagues, and patients, where exhaustion and stress diminish coping and resilience. Emerging evidence demonstrates that recovery requires more than time or reduced workload; deliberate engagement in evidence-based practices produces measurable improvement across domains.

This paper introduces a multidimensional framework for human capacity and synthesizes recent findings linking mindfulness, cognitive training, physical conditioning, and social connection with improved well-being. Objectives: The Thoracic Trauma Severity Score (TTSS) is a composite scoring system developed to assess injury severity and predict outcomes in thoracic trauma. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of TTSS in predicting clinical outcomes in patients with isolated thoracic trauma in Oman. Methods: This retrospective observational study was conducted at two tertiary academic hospitals in Muscat, Oman, between January 2014 and December 2024 and included adult patients with isolated thoracic trauma. However, much of the research in this area has focused on the individual entrepreneur, even though it is recognized that most new business ventures are started by a team of entrepreneurs. Living biomaterials grow during fabrication, making strategy selection a design problem distinct from conventional form-making. This dissertation investigates how Pleurotus ostreatus mycelium and Triticum aestivum plant roots reshape the computational design process through their biological behavior. The central argument is that when a designer works with living matter, the material participates in forming, changing the decisions made, the strategies chosen, and the framework required. This relationship between biological transformation and computational design is named the Material Affecting Design (MAD) framework. This dissertation explores the institutional and economic forces shaping corporate financial policy, specifically examining why firms deviate from industry-typical leverage and cash holdings, whether they converge toward these norms, and the performance implications of such trajectories. I develop a framework, rooted in institutional theory and dynamic capital structure literature, that characterizes firms with extreme, multi-year financial policies as "deviant by design." While managers might maintain non-normative leverage or cash positions for firm-specific efficiency gains, these choices often clash with established industry templates, leading to legitimacy costs and institutional pressure for conformity.

This paper proposes knowledge engines as a framework for understanding how intelligent systems — both human and artificial — systematically discover, integrate, and generate knowledge. We argue that history’s greatest scientific minds functioned as knowledge engines, processing information through iterative cycles of ingestion, analysis, synthesis, and communication, guided by curiosity and willingness to challenge established beliefs.

We propose a taxonomy of nine integrated capabilities — ingestion, digestion, analysis, calculation, comparison, connection, association, analogy, and multimodal communication — that any serious knowledge engine must combine systematically.
