Background: The leading cause of death for infants 1 month to 1 year is Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUIDs). Each year in the United States, 3500 infants die of sleep-related infant deaths. Between 2019-2021, there were 141 SUID cases in Cook County. 99% of these had one or more unsafe sleep factors. In Cook County, Black infants died at 14 times the rate of White infants and Hispanic infants at three times the rate of White infants. This is above the national average.

Background: Nurses must be skilled in time management to anticipate problems, recognize a change in patient condition, and reprioritize when needed. A member of the nursing education and professional development team rounds on all newly licensed nurses upon hire. Data obtained from these rounds during September 2023 through May 2024, indicated 64% of newly licensed nurses identified time management as a challenge. Review of new graduate nurse residency program evaluations along with rounding data supported the need for an educational experience dedicated to time management skills specific to the newly licensed nurse population.

Nepenthes megastoma is described and illustrated as a new species from the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Palawan Philippines. This carnivorous tropical pitcher plant is currently known from just three locations in the Mount Saint Paul karst formation, where it grows on vertical limestone walls. Morphologically, N. megastoma is characterised by its highly branched stems, campanulate pitchers, peltate tendril exsertion, dimorphic upper pitchers, and unidirectionally upturned female flowers. It is assessed as Critically Endangered under the IUCN Red List criteria, based on its restriction to three subpopulations comprising few total individuals. Pitcher morphology …

Existing studies that point to the various influences of sustainability leaders on individuals, organizations, and external stakeholders remain fragmented. Using Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory, this study aimed for a deep examination of leaders’ experiences as they built layers of influence through their sustainability initiatives and efforts. The study employed a reflexive qualitative approach in gathering and analyzing data from semi-structured interviews with five sustainability managers working in listed fast-moving consumer goods companies. The results suggested evident patterns of sustainability-promoting actions among the leaders that reflect alignment with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards. Racial disparities in incidence and outcomes of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) have been attributed to ancestry, socioeconomic factors and/or obesity. We studied 253 TNBCs from 128 Black and 125 White women. Arms were balanced for age, AJCC stage, histological grade and molecular subtypes, and differed significantly in BMI distribution, obesity, and Area Deprivation Index. We examined survival rates, whole-transcriptome RNASeq and genetic ancestry. In our sample, Black race or obesity were not intrinsically predictive of poor outcomes. TNBC molecular portraits varied with stage and biological aggressiveness, irrespective of race. We identified a novel group of TNBCs with a distinctive luminal-like …

This fact sheet presents 2025 data on the state of artificial intelligence (AI) adoption among the five Mountain West states of Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. The data are sourced from the “Anthropic Economic Index,” which provides data on Claude.ai (an AI large language model) and its adoption across all 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C. This fact sheet focuses on Claude.ai usage, the most common topic Claude.ai has been used for, and augmentation and automation shares for each Mountain West state.

The insurrection and its aftermath remain salient to contemporary American Politics. Existing scholarship has shown the insurrection was fueled by an effort to return Donald Trump to power while also protesting the decline of the non-Hispanic white population. Scholars also discuss the impact of continuous division across partisan and ideological lines. We are interested in exploring if these divisions are visible across attitudes of non-Hispanic white, Black, Hispanic, and Asian American/Pacific Islander respondents in a nationally representative survey. Introduction Rasburicase, a recombinant urate oxidase, effectively lowers nephrotoxic uric acid levels in tumor lysis syndrome (TLS). However, its use produces oxidative byproducts that can precipitate hemolysis and methemoglobinemia in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD). Although G6PD screening is recommended prior to use in high-risk populations, emergent presentations often preclude timely testing. We report a rare case of simultaneous rasburicase-induced methemoglobinemia and hemolytic anemia in a patient with previously undiagnosed G6PD deficiency. Review of current literature identified pH testing as superior to air insufflation for verification of Nasogastric/Orogastric placement in pediatric patients 28 days and older. X-ray is considered the gold standard but not practical. The practice of auscultation has risk of incorrect placement, which can have negative patient outcomes if you introduce formula or breast milk into the lungs.

Aim: This intervention sought to improve learners’ knowledge, skills, and confidence with high-risk, low-volume equipment. Evidence shows that interactive, simulation-based activities effectively engage learners and enhance critical thinking through application to clinical scenarios. There is also support for implementing a traveling education cart to disseminate information in a concise, flexible, small-group format without impeding nursing workflow.

Patient mobility is a critical factor in improving patient outcomes. Nurse leaders at a Milwaukee, Wisconsin, community hospital identified concerning trends: increasing discharges to subacute facilities, prolonged length of stay (LOS), and rising rates of healthcare-acquired pressure injuries (HAPI). Concurrently, the hospital was underperforming in nurse-driven mobility compared to similar-sized hospitals.

Introduction and Context This initiative addresses the challenge of providing 24/7 Neonatology supervision at a Level II regional NICU while meeting AAP guidelines. Traditional in-person rounding was limited by staffing and geography. We implemented the TytoCare™ device—previously used in adult populations—for virtual rounding. This allowed Neonatologists to remotely “see” and “hear” neonates in real time, supporting care quality, continuity, and improved family experiences.

Implementation Strategy All APPs and Neonatologists were trained on TytoCare™, which offers high-resolution video, auscultation, and two-way communication. Introduction and Context

In 2024, a Wisconsin healthcare system prioritized the Patient Safety and Adverse Event Composite (PSI-90) as a key quality benchmark. One component, the PSI-03 Pressure Ulcer Rate, reflects a hospital’s ability to prevent hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPI). In the year prior to project implementation, a Milwaukee, Wisconsin, community hospital recorded 52 HAPIs—at least 10% of which were suspected to be present on admission (POA) but lacked proper documentation. Additionally, 5% were staged at level three or higher, adversely impacting PSI-03 HAPI outcome.
