Reliable prediction of frictional pressure drop during condensation in mini‑ and microchannels underpins both thermal management effectiveness and overall heat transfer performance in compact two‑phase heat exchangers, cold‑plates, and on‑chip cooling loops. Excess pressure loss burdens pumps, raises electrical consumption, and can destabilize flow, whereas under‑prediction risks temperature overshoot and premature dryout. Conventional empirical correlations and flexible machine-learning models can lose accuracy once channel size, working fluid, or operating conditions stray beyond their testing range. Numerous centrality measures exist to quantify the influence of edges within a network, with edge betweenness being one of the more well-known measures. However, such measures are inadequate in network percolation scenarios (e.g., the transmission of a disease over a transportation network of highways) as they fail to consider the changing percolation states of edges over time. This paper addresses this limitation by extending percolation centrality, a measure originally developed to evaluate the influence of vertices during a percolation process (i.e., a dynamic spread of a contagion) in the network, to the edge level. Purpose: This is a secondary data analysis carried out to determine the asso- ciation between alcohol use and obesity (BMI) in US adults aged 20 to 79 while adjusting for confounding factors that are known to affect obesity. Methods: The 2017-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) was utilized to provide a weighted sample of 16,548 adults between the ages of 20 and 79 with valid information for the BMI and for the average alcohol con- sumed per day over the past 12 months. Associatively, the Dynamic Social Impact theory (DSIT) can effectively demonstrate the convergence of labor, culture and service in connection with Black labor and cultural taxation within the productivity sector. One of the four patterns identified in DSIT indicates that minority groups within a larger culture can be found to be both isolated and vibrant. This isolation allows minority influence to persist. To such an extent that certain marginalized, underrepresented people in the productivity field often face underlying stressors that disproportionately affect their health and overall well-being. This fact sheet presents data on police killings between 2013 and 2023 for the five Mountain West states of Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. The Brookings Institution report, “The state of police reform: measuring progress in each state,” tracks the total number of killings by police and the number of killings by police per one million residents in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. This fact sheet reports data on the total number of people killed by police and the rate of police killings per capita for each Mountain West state.

Population forecasts produced by governments at all levels are used in the public sector, the private sector, and by researchers. They have been primarily produced using deterministic methods. This paper shows how a method for producing measures of uncertainty can be applied to existing subnational population forecasts while meeting several important criteria, including the concept of utility. The paper includes an assessment of the efficacy of the method by: (1) examining the change in uncertainty intervals it produces by population size and population growth rate; and (2) comparing the width and temporal change of the uncertainty intervals it produces to …

In this paper, we develop a combined order p integer-valued autoregressive process whose marginal distribution follows the discrete Lindley distribution (DLD) [1]. Referred to as the CDLD-INAR(p) process, this model is particularly suited for modeling count time series exhibiting overdispersion. Formulation of this model is based on the binomial thinning operator introduced by Steutel [8]. Several conditional theoretical properties of the process are established, and its parameters are estimated using the conditional maximum likelihood method. Analog of Korovkin type theorem for the sequence of convolution operators in the subspaces of additive-invariant Banach spaces generated by the shift operator is obtained in this work. Convergence to the identity of the sequence of convolution operators with a positive approximate identity is proved. We also prove the convergence to the identity of Steklov operators in Marcinkiewicz spaces.

In this paper, we propose a novel method for estimating the long-memory parameter in time series. By combining the multi-resolution framework of wavelets with the robustness of the least absolute deviations criterion, we introduce a periodogram providing a robust alternative to classical methods in the presence of non-Gaussian noise. Incorporating this periodogram into a log-periodogram regression, we develop a new estimator. Simulation studies demonstrate that our estimator outperforms the Geweke and PorterHudak (GPH) and wavelet-based log-periodogram (WBLP) estimators, particularly in terms of mean squared error, across various sample sizes and parameter configurations.

We consider a problem of controlling a heating device intended for heating a coolant supplying heat to a closed system is considered. Feedback is used to control the process, in which information about the process state is continuously or discretely received from individual points of the device, where temperature sensors are installed. The mathematical model of the controlled process in both cases is described by a point-loaded first-order hyperbolic equation. The sequence known as Narayana’s cows sequence is defined by the thirdorder linear recurrence relation Nn = Nn−1 + Nn−3, for n ≥ 3, with the initial values given by N0 = N1 = N2 = 1. In this paper, we explore the class of numbers known as brepdigits that can be represented as the sum of three terms from this sequence. [Objective] To investigate the effects of thermal treatments (dry heat, microwave, and high-temperature high-pressure steam) and high-pressure defatting processes (supercritical CO2 extraction and ultrasound-assisted subcritical n-butane extraction) on the quality of rice bran, aiming to improve its stability and potential for high-value utilization. [Methods] Rice bran was pretreated by dry heat, microwave, and high-temperature high-pressure steam, combined with two high-pressure defatting techniques. The effects on lipase activity, storage stability, and physicochemical properties of rice bran were systematically analyzed. [Objective] To address the volatile and water-insoluble nature of menthol. [Methods] Various concentrations of gellan gum (ranging from 0% to 1% w/w) and whey protein isolate were adopted to formulate oil-in-water emulsions encapsulating menthol. The effects of gellan gum concentration on the emulsions ’ microstructure, particle size, zeta potential, menthol encapsulation efficiency, and interfacial rheological properties were examined. The enhancement effects of incorporating gellan gum on the pH stability, centrifugal stability, and storage stability of the menthol-loaded oil-in-water emulsions were elaborated. [Objective] To investigate the effects of adding beer and calcium lactate solution to the fermentation broth on the quality and volatile flavor substances of secondary fermented mustard greens. [Methods] Based on the inoculation of lactic acid bacteria into desalted mustard greens, cellar beer and pasteurized beer are added, respectively with calcium lactate solutions of different concentrations. Then, sensory evaluation is conducted on the secondary fermented mustard greens. [Objective] To investigate the effects of pullulanase treatment on the structure and functionality of waxy corn starch, providing theoretical guidance for regulating starch debranching modification. [Methods] The effects of pullulanase treatment on the structure and functional properties of waxy corn starch are systematically studied using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, relative molecular weight and distribution, apparent amylose content, and digestibility tests. [Results] Compared with untreated starch, after pullulanase treatment, starch solutions of different mass fraction rearrange to form a relatively ordered aggregated structure containing B-type crystallinity, with the relative crystallinity increasing from 2.70% to 22.67%. [Methods] A visual feedback-based robotic control module was designed to control the robotic arm for grasping target objects and to guide the movement of the mobile chassis. [Methods] Based on the analysis of the entire food sorting system, a trajectory optimization method for food sorting is proposed, combining an improved non-uniform quintic B-spline interpolation with multi-objective SCARA high-speed parallel robots.
