This qualitative interview study explored the understanding of dyslexia among K–3 elementary classroom teachers in Arkansas, using the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) definition as adopted by the Arkansas Department of Education, specifically the Division of Elementary and Secondary Education. An interview protocol was used to gather information about teachers’ understanding of the full IDA definition of dyslexia. Since this definition has been formally adopted by the state of Arkansas, it has significantly influenced district policies, classroom instruction, and support services. Behind The Scenes Of A Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon, Rebecca Giver Johnston

Syracuse University Libraries hosted a student workshop that explored Wikipedia, its history, and its modern challenges. After a conversation and Q&A with a Wikipedia expert, librarians worked with students to make their own updates to Wikipedia, focusing especially on making improvements to pages for folks from the Latinx and LGBTQ+ communities. This lightning talk will explore how staff prepared for this event, how it went, and some takeaways from running it.

Ex-offenders possibly felt excluded when private landlords or property managers conducted background checks and decided to immediately deny ex-offenders housing opportunities. The problem this study addressed was how landlords and property managers’ exclusion of ex-offenders impacted reentry post-incarceration. There was a gap regarding how Michigan private landlords impacted ex-offenders’ success factor in securing safe housing upon reentry back to society. The key findings related to the literature in ways that showed how landlords acknowledged outside biases, yet described ex-offender tenants as appreciative, positive, and respectful. Persistent shortages threaten the well-being of service members and increase reliance on the resilience of overburdened staff, particularly in rural and underserved areas. This integrative review aimed to identify and synthesize best practices to improve recruitment and retention of mental health providers within the MHS. This Doctor of Nursing Practice project was an educational initiative to provide comprehensive central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) prevention education program for staff working in an intensive care unit (ICU). CLABSIs pose a significant threat to patient safety, contributing to increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs, with annual expenditures estimated at $300 million to $2.3 billion and mortality rates ranging from 10% to 30%. Despite existing protocols, the project site facility experienced persistent CLABSI rates. This interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) was conducted to explore the lived experiences of licensed psychologists in diagnosing adolescents with bipolar disorder, aiming to answer two key questions: How do psychologists make sense of diagnosing bipolar disorder in adolescents? And do they rely on their education and lived experience in the diagnostic process? Drawing from developmental psychology, clinical decision-making theories, and ethical considerations, the study highlights the complexities and challenges of diagnosing bipolar disorder in youth. Semi-structured interviews with four psychologists were transcribed and analyzed to identify recurring themes, which emphasized the importance of collateral information, developmental context, and professional judgment. …

The decline in volunteer engagement within nonprofit organizations poses a significant challenge, particularly in youth sports where volunteer support is essential to program success. The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine the organizational factors that influenced volunteer motivation and satisfaction in a youth sports nonprofit. The practice focused research question for the study was: what factors within the organization either motivate or demotivate current individuals to volunteer in youth sports? Background: Medical nutrition therapy is fundamental for managing glycemia and weight in type 1 diabetes, yet dietary guidance specific to this population and relevant subgroups is lacking.

Purpose: We synthesized the interventional literature investigating diet patterns for glycemic and weight management in youth and adults with type 1 diabetes, with attention to interindividual variation that suggests the need for precision approaches. The protocol was prospectively registered (CRD42024519941).

Firefighters are 5 times more likely than civilians to experience depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Firefighters have suicidal ideation and attempt rates that are 2 to 3 times higher than the general population, yet most do not seek treatment. The purpose of this qualitative Delphi study was to develop an expert consensus on psychological assessment and treatment practices with firefighters through the lens of an expert panel of 19 psychologists who work with this population. Low project success rates are a significant issue for telecommunications organizations and project managers, as they can negatively impact operational efficiency and profitability. Grounded in transformational leadership theory, this quantitative project aimed to investigate the relationship between transformational leadership and project success within the telecommunications industry. This thesis presents dinosaurs as a thematic craft element in fiction. The research portion of the thesis project describes dinosaur fiction as a genre and surveys key works of dinosaur fiction. It focuses on how the genre’s literary tradition established thematic precedent for fictional dinosaurs. The thesis highlights dinosaurs as characters and symbols while tracing the development of tropes and expectations within dinosaur fiction. Bay-functionalization of perylene diimides (PDIs) offers a strategy for modulating electronic properties to achieve optimal n-type charge transport character, but can result in core twisting and reduced planarity, leading to compromised π-conjugation and disruption of tight π–π stacking in the solid state. Herein, we report the synthesis and characterization of two new nitrogen-bay-functionalized N-annulated PDIs, where N-annulation effectively enforces planarity of the polycyclic aromatic core thus preserving π-conjugation even with bulky bay substituents present. Both compounds exhibit intramolecular charge transfer character, tunable optical and electrochemical properties, and strong paramagnetic behaviour without external dopants present, as confirmed by UV-visible spectroscopy, cyclic …
