On The Season Of Reformation, Daniel Cheoljung Kim
On The Season Of Reformation, Daniel Cheoljung Kim
CTS Student Publications and Creative Works
Each October, the church commemorates the Reformation, and we hear again that familiar phrase: “The church reformed must always be reforming.” But those words are not a slogan for ecclesiastical pride; they might be a summons to humility. But this slogan must not remain merely a comfort that lulls us into the illusion that we are being reformed. Rather, it should be a warning cry for every Christian about the reality that we are not being reformed today. These words remind us that the church — and each of us within it — must be willing to be changed by …

The Effects Of 12 Weeks Of Exercise On Cancer-Related Fatigue Over Time In Cancer Patients, Deborah Middleton
Doctorate in Kinesiology
Current evidence suggests that exercise is safe and well-tolerated by cancer patients and may have great potential in mitigating CRF, one of the most common adverse events experienced by patients (Campbell et al., 2019). This study aimed to evaluate if supervised group exercise for 60 minutes (30 minutes aerobic/30 minutes strength) for 12 weeks at low-to-moderate intensity can impact CRF levels over time in cancer patients. Each of the 35 participants were screened for CRF at four timepoints (Week 1, 4, 8, and 12) using the FACIT-FS self-reported questionnaire. A paired samples t-test was conducted to compare the mean FACIT-FS …

Unmasking The 1920s Ku Klux Klan In Tillamook County, Oregon, David A. Horowitz
Unmasking The 1920s Ku Klux Klan In Tillamook County, Oregon, David A. Horowitz
History Faculty Publications and Presentations
The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) arrived in Oregon in the early 1920s, during the history of the second Klan. The Klan quickly spread throughout the state, aided by a mostly white, Protestant population, as well as by racist and anti-immigrant sentiments which were already embedded in the region.
Much of the influence of KKK Tillamook Chapter No. 8 came between 1921 and 1928, when the lodge pursued an anti-Catholic agenda and supported Prohibition and law enforcement through its dominance of local government, the police, and the courts.
Ultimately, the struggles and decline of the Klan in Oregon coincided with the …

Mechanisms Behind Consolidation-Induced Water Release From Effective Impermeable Soil Layers And Mine Water Inflow Prediction In Coal Mining, Li Tao, Gao Ying, Fan Limin, Yang Junwei
Coal Geology & Exploration
Background In the Yushen mining area, coal mining is gradually shifting toward areas with thick soil layers. This leads to continuous water release from the saturated soils above the hydraulically conductive fracture zones, thereby significantly increasing the burden of mine water drainage. Focusing on the Yushuwan Coal Mine in northern Shaanxi, this study investigated the mechanisms behind mining-induced water release from effective impermeable soil layers and predicted mine water inflow. Methods Using conventional hydrochemistry, isotopic hydrochemistry, and a high-throughput microbial sequencing method, this study conducted qualitative and quantitative identification of the primary water sources of a mine in the Yushuwan …

Wills Eye Hospital Papers
BACKGROUND: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a sight-threatening retinal disease with pathological mediation by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Intravitreal anti-VEGF injections are commonly used to manage DR. Ultra-wide-field fluorescein angiography (UWF-FA) can assess DR severity and characterize the amount of non-perfused retina (non-perfusion area, NP), neovascularization (neovascular area, NV), and foveal avascular zone (FAZ). However, the association between anti-VEGF treatment and NP, NV, and FAZ characterized by UWF-FA is not well established.
METHODS: A retrospective, single-center cohort study involved eyes of patients with Type 1 or 2 diabetes mellitus with at least one UWF-FA image. The area of the FAZ, …

Neutrosophic Set Model For Effective Earthquake Disaster Risk Management: Results And Discussion, Emadaldeen Hassan Alomar, Abdullah Ali Salamai
Neutrosophic Systems with Applications
Secondary effects including landslides, tsunamis, and fires can cause significant damage and fatalities following an earthquake. Effective disaster risk management has been predicted to be built on regional fire-following earthquake (FFE) risk. Specifically, a target region’s building and geographical factors might impact the fire danger and spread. The percentage of fire-resistant building types as building characteristics and the distribution of building densities as regional characteristics were the primary factors used in this study to determine FFE risk. This study develops a decision-making methodology for risk management in the FFE. We use the single valued neutrosophic set (SVNS) to overcome uncertainty. …

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications
Outcome-Based Education (OBE) emphasizes measurable learning results, yet the evaluation of professional talent training in physical education often involves uncertain, incomplete, or even contradictory indicators. Traditional assessment models are limited in capturing these indeterminacies. To address this challenge, we propose a novel neutrosophic algebraic framework that integrates neutrosophic probability, measure, and algebraic structures with OBE evaluation. This study introduces a neutrosophic evaluation framework that captures both determinate and indeterminate aspects of brand competitiveness. A case study on physical education professional training demonstrates how the proposed model captures hidden uncertainty and provides a more balanced assessment than classical methods. The results …
