Teaching materials are the most important component in learning. This research and development aims to produce products and test the validity, systematics, communicativeness, and attractiveness of short story writing teaching materials with prophetic values. This study adapted the seven steps of the Borg and Gall development model, namely (1) information collection, (2) planning, (3) product development, (4) initial field trials, (5) initial product revisions, (6) field trials, (7) final product revisions. The results of the effectiveness test obtained a value of t = 7.191 with sig. 0,000 which means <0.05. Thus, the score of students has increased significantly in writing short stories after using teaching materials to write short stories containing prophetic values.

Effect Of Stoniness On The Hydraulic Properties Of A Soil From An Evaporation Experiment Using The Wind And Inverse Estimation Methods, Nerea Arias, Iñigo Virto, Alberto Enrique, Paloma Bescansa, Riley Walton, Ole O. Wendroth Feb 2019

Wendroth

Plant and Soil Sciences Faculty Publications

Stony soils are distributed all over the world. The study of their characteristics has gained importance lately due to their increasing use as agricultural soils. The effect that rock fragments exert on the soil hydraulic properties is difficult to measure in situ, and is usually derived from the fine earth properties. However, the corrections used so far do not seem accurate for all types of stony soils. Our objective was to assess the adequacy of estimating the hydraulic properties of a stony soil from the fine earth ones by correcting the latter by the volume occupied by rock fragments. To …

Food and Machinery

Forth-eight cup-shaped edible bird's nest (EBN) harvesting from natural cave and man-made house were collected from Malaysia and Indonesia to study the distribution characteristics and traceability of 27 elements in EBN. The inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) was applied for the detection of multi-elements in EBN, and five macro-elements which distributed according to the rule of Na>Ca>Mg>K>P were found in EBN. Besides, in EBN, some essential trace elements (Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn, Mo, Co, Se, Cr), 3 light rare earth elements (LREE) and 2 heavy rare earth elements (HREE) also be detected. All of 27 elements in EBN is …

Research Progress On Grafting Modification Of Protein Glycosylation, Feng Yanying, Mu Daichen, Qi Wenlei, Chen Maolong, Xu Zhou, Cheng Yunhui

Food and Machinery

Glycosylation modification of food proteins with reducing sugars allows covalent attachment of the ε-amino group of the protein to the reducing carbonyl group of the sugar by Maillard reaction, which does not require any chemical catalyst, and is a green and effective chemical modification method. We systematically introduced the reaction mechanism, reaction markers, modification methods and functional properties of protein glycosylation, and discussed the research direction of protein glycosylation.

United States Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services: Staff Publications

Wolves (Canis lupus) have been captured with foothold traps for several decades to equip them with radiocollars for population monitoring. However, trapping in most areas is limited to spring, summer, and autumn as cold winter temperatures can lead to frozen appendages in trapped animals. In addition, conflicts arise when domestic dogs encounter these traps in nonwinter seasons. An alternative capture method is the use of cable restraint devices (modified neck snares) in the winter. We evaluated injury scores, movement patterns, and space use of wolves captured in cable restraint devices and foothold traps in north central Minnesota, USA, during 2012–2016. …
