Cerebellar Vermis: Contributions To The Phenomenology Of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Moriah Eve Stern
Cerebellar Vermis: Contributions To The Phenomenology Of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Moriah Eve Stern
Psychology ETDs
Background: Current neurocognitive models of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) implicate dysfunction in top-down inhibitory control mechanisms. Research supports alteration in the functional activity of cortico-basal ganglia-thalamo-cortical loops in OCD, as well as the inferior parietal region, posterior medial cortex, thalamus and cerebellum. The cerebellum, once only known as a region of motor coordination, is now accepted as being highly involved in cognitive regulation as well. Emerging evidence of connectivity between the posterior cerebellum and areas of the brain related to inhibitory functioning, including the basal ganglia, prefrontal, and inferior parietal regions, suggests a potential cerebellar role in OCD-symptomology. In fact, in …

Pengaruh Perbedaan Ukuran Polen Pada Penyerbukan Buatan Terhadap Potensi Jumlah Buah Pada Tanaman Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis Guinensis Jacq.), Enceng Sobari, Ahmad Akmal Hasibuan, M. Subandi
Jurnal Kultivasi

A Cross-Cultural Comparison Of Communicative Patterns In Bilingual And Monolingual Mother-Child Dyads In The United States And Thailand, Neli Vorobyov, Sirada Rochanavibhata, Viorica Marian
Binghamton University Undergraduate Journal
Parental speech has some influences on children’s language development. The way parents speak with their children is often reflected in the children’s speech patterns. Prior research suggests that monolingual mother-child communication differs as a function of linguistic and cultural background. The present study examined communicative patterns of bilingual and monolingual mother-child dyads in Thailand and the United States to determine whether there are differences in conversational style and content between bilinguals and monolinguals who are native to different countries and cultures. Participants included four bilingual mother-preschooler dyads from Thailand, four bilingual mother-preschooler dyads from the US, and 21 English monolingual …

Library Faculty Research
Academic LIS researchers have inconsistent research responsibilities and support depending on their institution and position. Some are offered time, mentorship, and professional development funding in order to accomplish goals, while others are asked to conduct research on their own. This paper identifies gaps in our profession’s support for those interested in pursuing, developing, and publishing library research. Presenters also share the process they went through and lessons learned from creating an online community for new LIS researchers called LibParlor.

Utilizing The Universal Design For Learning Model To Improve Educational Environments In Secondary Inclusive Classrooms, Robyn A. Delahunt
Utilizing The Universal Design For Learning Model To Improve Educational Environments In Secondary Inclusive Classrooms, Robyn A. Delahunt
CUP Ed.D. Dissertations
This purpose of this case study was to explore the potential reasons why secondary teachers are resistant to working in inclusive programs, as well as to discover barriers to inclusion so that those obstacles can be addressed and rectified by those who make meaningful, relevant, and holistic educational changes, leading to improved classroom experiences for all parties within inclusive settings. The pre-research prediction that barriers to inclusion revolve around instructional differentiation, increased responsibilities, and additional work load were correct as they relate to the teacher identified obstacles of lack of support and lack of training, with most participants agreeing that …

A Printed Wearable Dual-Band Antenna For Wireless Power Transfer, Mohammad Haerinia, Sima Noghanian
Electrical Engineering Faculty Publications
In this work, a dual-band printed planar antenna, operating at two ultra-high frequency bands (2.5 GHz/4.5 GHz), is proposed for wireless power transfer for wearable applications. The receiving antenna is printed on a Kapton polyimide-based flexible substrate, and the transmitting antenna is on FR-4 substrate. The receiver antenna occupies 2.1 cm2 area. Antennas were simulated using ANSYS HFSS software and the simulation results are compared with the measurement results.

Strategies For The Synthesis Of Glycosylated Small Molecule Libraries And New Bioactive Compounds, Zachary Cannone
Strategies For The Synthesis Of Glycosylated Small Molecule Libraries And New Bioactive Compounds, Zachary Cannone
Doctoral Dissertations
The synthesis of glycosylated small molecule compound libraries remains a difficult challenge in the field of organic chemistry. Leading techniques are hindered by the requirement of optimization based on substrate, and the generation of non-classical glycoside products. The development of a platform which takes advanced glycoside intermediates and utilizes reactive handles on the aglycone for rapid diversification to final products has been completed in this research. Use of amino sugars, derived from known antibiotics, as the carbohydrate component of final compounds was intended to exploit known binding interactions with biomacromolecules. Final compounds indeed showed ability to inhibit bacterial protein synthesis …
