The research examined the mental health implications due to the DE program’s academic pressure on students. The available literature demonstrates that the DE program is associated with a large number of students entering colleges, academic success in college, and self-confidence development. Nevertheless, the DE program exerts some pressure on the high school learners in terms of their mental health. Besides managing the high school curriculum, DE students are supposed to complete the relevant degree courses in the DE program. This leads to duplication of academic classes that strains the work-life balance, leading some students to encounter high levels of stress …

This article explores a collaborative initiative undertaken by a state university aimed at implementing and expanding an Early College Program. The conceptual framework, practical strategies, collaborative efforts and background of this initiative are presented. With a focus on improving college access for all, the article introduces the university's efforts to promote an inclusive Early College Program accessible to high-need students in particular. This collaborative approach highlights the importance of fostering collaboration among both internal and external partners of Institutions of Higher Education (IHE). Collaboration between concurrent enrollment instructors and faculty liaisons is crucial to a successful concurrent enrollment program. Discussions of such collaboration importantly focus on bridging the gap between high school and college for students, teachers, and curriculum, and, as a result, do not always emphasize the challenges, rewards, and assistance faculty liaisons experience. This article shares the perspectives of faculty liaisons at a private four-year NACEP-accredited institution: their reasons for taking on the role, the challenges they experience, and the supports they appreciate and want. Navigating Dual Worlds: The Complex Experiences Of Concurrent Enrollment Instructors, Teri St. Pierre

Concurrent Enrollment Review

Despite the rapid expansion of dual enrollment programs in the United States, limited research has examined the experiences of concurrent enrollment instructors (CEIs), high school teachers who deliver college-level courses within secondary school settings. This qualitative collective case study explores how twelve CEIs within Maine's public universities navigate their unique position at the intersection of K-12 and higher education systems. Guided by role theory (Katz & Kahn, 1978), this research investigated how CEIs perceive their dual role and navigate competing institutional expectations. The act of intentionally pausing becomes not only a teaching strategy but a spiritual practice, reminding us that God meets us in the in-between spaces of chaos and calm; this explicit method of pausing for even the smallest moment of time gives educators space for reflection and reaps fruit with intentional pause and reflection on teaching dispositions. This essay argues that Christian teacher educators must integrate linguistically sustaining pedagogies into teacher preparation as a faithful response to God’s call to justice, love, and hospitality. In classrooms shaped by increasing linguistic diversity, these practices move beyond accommodating multilingual learners to affirming and sustaining their linguistic and cultural identities. The essay begins by clarifying key concepts (Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy, Linguistically Responsive Teaching, and Translanguaging) and exploring their intersections with faith-based commitments.
