Non-adherence to appointments remains an impediment to health continuity. It has been especially pervasive in rural settings. Patients meeting difficult intravenous access (DIVA) criteria often experience multiple failed intravenous (IV) access attempts, delayed diagnostics, and treatment initiation, particularly in rural emergency departments with limited resources. This quality improvement (QI) project evaluated whether targeted ultrasound-guided peripheral venous access training would improve staff self-efficacy, confidence, and self-reported procedural execution at a rural critical access hospital. Guided by Lewin’s Change Theory and Benner’s Novice to Expert Theory, a quasi-experimental pre-/post-intervention design was implemented. Nurses and paramedics completed the validated Peripheral Intravenous Insertion Confidence Assessment before and after a didactic and psychomotor training program. In rural emergency departments, accurate triage is vital to ensuring patient safety and maximizing limited resources. This quality improvement project aimed to strengthen triage practices by enhancing nurses’ understanding and confidence in using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI), a standardized tool for assessing patient acuity. Ten registered nurses at a seven-bed critical access hospital participated in a structured educational program, guided by Lewin’s Change Theory and Benner’s Novice to Expert Theory. The intervention included hands-on training, real-world scenarios, and self-assessment surveys. After the program, nurses showed significant gains in both knowledge (mean scores rose from 70.0 to 88.9, p < .001) and confidence (from 13.5 to 23.2 out of 25). While the small sample size and short timeline were limitations, the results highlight the value of ongoing education in improving triage accuracy and patient care. This project offers a practical model for rural hospitals seeking to enhance emergency nursing practice and promote consistent, evidence-based decision-making.

Evidence indicates that Animal-Assisted Therapy (AAT) has the potential to impact stress levels, improve community connection, and enhance overall well-being among nursing students. Many academic institutions lack structured policies to guide AAT programs into educational settings. Once limited to entertainment and disinformation, deepfakes are now extending into the financial sector, where voice and facial impersonations exploit biometric authentication systems to facilitate fraudulent transactions. This evolution exposes gaps in existing legal and regulatory frameworks, raising critical questions about consumer protection and institutional safeguards. This Note argues for a reconceptualization of deepfake harms as both a privacy and a financial security issue. It examines the illusion of consent generated by synthetic impersonation and insufficient statutory protections. The West Mountains plutonic complex is a series of intrusive bodies, presently located in Idaho, that formed during a continuous period of Early to mid-Cretaceous magmatism in the northwest North American Cordillera. Granitoids of the West Mountains plutonic complex were emplaced across the boundary between accreted terranes and Laurentia following the Jurassic accretion of the Blue Mountains Province. New U-Pb zircon crystallization dates from the West Mountains plutonic complex ranging from 130 to 109 Ma and new zircon εHf isotopic compositions ranging from +12.1 to +4.7 suggest the complex is older and compositionally distinct from the younger than 85 Ma …

Details of the Late Jurassic tectonic evolution of the North American continental margin remain controversial, but a clear understanding of Late Jurassic tectonics is essential for understanding subsequent terrane accretion and displacement. Upper Jurassic strata of the Galice Formation in the western Klamath Mountains province and the Mariposa Formation in the Western Sierra Nevada metamorphic province were deposited along the margin of North America during this critical time. The Galice and Mariposa Formations have long been correlated, and these strata are the youngest rocks deformed during Late Jurassic Nevadan deformation in Oregon and California. Background/Objectives: The Edmonton Obesity Staging System (EOSS) was developed to stage the obesity in adult populations. Subsequently, this staging system was designed for pediatric populations (EOSS-P). This study aimed to describe obesity severity using EOSS-P and correlate it with BMI classes in Mexican children and adolescents living with obesity. Methods: This is a cross-sectional analysis carried out with data from school-age children and adolescents living with obesity who were referred to the Pediatric Obesity Clinic at the Child Welfare Unit at the General Hospital of Mexico “Dr. Eduardo Liceaga”. BACKGROUND: The optimal indications for superior capsular reconstruction (SCR) in cases of massive irreparable rotator cuff tears (RCTs) accompanied by degenerative arthritis remain controversial.

METHODS: A systematic review was conducted according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, searching PubMed, Embase (Elsevier), and Google Scholar. Studies were included if they documented Hamada grade and reported clinical and radiographic outcomes after SCR for irreparable RCTs. American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score, visual analog scale for pain (pVAS), active range of motion, and acromiohumeral distance (AHD) were analyzed.

Objectives: Incidental detection of superior semicircular canal dehiscence (SSCD) in patients without symptoms may lead to misinterpretation if not correlated with clinical presentation, examination findings, and vestibular function testing. This study aimed to assess the rate of radiological SSCD in the asymptomatic Omani population, as the first study of its kind in the country and the Gulf region. Methods: A retrospective review was conducted of all asymptomatic patients who underwent high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) of the temporal bones at a tertiary care facility between 2017 and 2021. For decades, the U.S. Supreme Court has expressed corporate favor by greenlighting mandatory arbitration clauses that modify the arbitration process to limit claims and maximize profit. These modifications include everything from authorizing provisions that require consumers to waive their right to a class action, to corporate specification of the forum, rules, and relevant procedures for arbitration. However, it is not only these company written arbitration clauses that are expanding corporate dominance in arbitration, there is an underexplored profit incentive helping to shape the corporate friendly structure of the arbitration process originating from the arbitration forums themselves.
