When a child’s legal age can be judicially reclassified without rigorous procedural safeguards, the foundations of American due process erode. This article explores the alarming constitutional vacuum exposed by the case of Natalia Grace, an adopted Ukrainian child whose age was legally reclassified from eight to twenty-two without procedural safeguards such as a hearing, legal counsel, or evidentiary testing. Unlike competency or parental rights proceedings, re-aging decisions lack uniform standards, judicial transparency, or appellate recourse. This article argues that re-aging implicates fundamental liberty interests and must be governed by heightened due process protections. Drawing on comparative models from guardianship and …

This article confronts the mainstream feminist narrative that white women first addressed patriarchal violence en mass in the 1970s. Instead, this article traces back to Black women who advocated against lynching and sexual violence in the late 1800s as the first attempt to address systemic violence against women. They engaged in womanism, or the fight for Black people’s right to experience safety and discover a sense of wholeness. Their efforts led to the proliferation of numerous movements in the 1900s. This study centers on the development of nanostructured sensing elements and electrochemical electrodes based on p-type CuO for ethanol detection, with a specific focus on application related onto targeting Breath and Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) monitoring. CuO nanostructures were deposited onto ceramic tubes via spray pyrolysis under optimized conditions to ensure uniform film formation. The CuO surfaces were subsequently functionalized with silver (Ag) nanoparticles via thermal evaporation and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) using the doctor blade method. Structural, morphological, and compositional analyses were conducted using X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), respectively. …

Legal education has long relied on traditional teaching methods, such as the Socratic, case-dialogue and lecture methods, which prioritize individualism and competition over collaboration. While these methods have historically shaped legal pedagogy, they no longer adequately prepare students for the evolving demands of legal practice. This Article examines the impact of traditional teaching methods on the changing demographic of law students and offers collaborative learning as a potential solution. When we think about students struggling in school, we often focus on grades, test scores, and graduation rates. But there's a deeper problem affecting students across all achievement levels: alienation. Students feel disconnected from school not because they're failing, but because they can't see themselves in the narrow story schools tell about success. This brief summarizes findings from a study drawing on over two years of ethnographic fieldwork in two different high schools in Los Angeles, California. In the aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis, regulators encouraged banks to issue contingent convertible bonds ("CoCos") to improve the issuing bank's stability. Banks around the world have issued more than $1 trillion worth of CoCos to date. Yet it is unclear whether CoCos have achieved their intended goal of improving stability. Leveraging the unexpected banking panic in March 2023, we show that issuing banks fared worse-as measured by abnormal equity returns and probabilities of default. We also examine market dynamics after 2023 and find that the largest banks have continued to issue CoCos with similar contractual terms, though issuer …

Communication, client education, and trust have been previously identified as important aspects of veterinary clinical interaction, and this study aimed to assess how these variables influence client compliance, treatment plan adherence, and perceived patient outcomes in veterinary medicine. Predicting the physical and mechanical properties of organic materials from purely chemical understandings remains a significant challenge due to the limitations of conventional force fields in molecular dynamics (MD). In this work, we present a novel reformulation of Class II force fields that integrates Morse bond potentials with newly derived cross-term interactions, explicitly capturing complete bond dissociation while maintaining computational efficiency. This reformulated functional form combines the stability of fixed-bond models with the reactive capabilities of bond-breaking force fields, achieving accurate and robust MD predictions across crystalline, semi-crystalline, and amorphous organic systems. This research presentation examines the experiences of loss and emotionality of the non-birthing parents in NICUs, where most of the conventional support structures address themselves to birthing parents. Using a phenomenological research method of semi-structured interviews and applying thematic analysis, this research gathers the motivational and granular experiences of the non-birthing parents, who are often left emotionally drained and encouraged to suppress their emotions for the birthing partner. Best practices are called for that emphasize emotionally supportive programs and services that recognize all parents as individuals who may need help coping with the demands of parenting. Bullying victimization among school students is associated with negative psychosocial experiences such as anxiety, depression, and sometimes suicidality.^1,2 Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) students experience bias-based bullying in schools at high rates compared to other non-minority groups.^1,3 Although much research focuses on this phenomenon, few studies explore the possible protective factors that buffer the effects of bias-based bullying among this specific group of students, such as religious participation and certain developmental assets. This study focuses on turnover intention (ITQ) of U.S. information technology workers during the spring of 2020 and the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this study, we evaluate a number of turnover intention antecedents not previously studied together, including job alternatives, global job embeddedness, job satisfaction, compensation satisfaction, role overload, and work–life balance. We use three first-order factors of work interference with personal life, personal life interference with work, and work—personal life enhancement. Background: Infection and nonunion are common sequelae of open fractures. Studies have shown infection and nonunion rates ranging from 2% to 52% and 12% to 17%, respectively. The present article describes the rates of surgical site infection (SSI) and delayed union/nonunion following open fractures in a large contemporary series of patients from prospective clinical trials with adjudicated outcomes. Methods: A descriptive analysis was performed with use of patient data from the FLOW, Aqueous-PREP, and PREPARE-Open studies. Healthcare workers often hold implicit biases against patients with obesity, impacting communication, quality of care, and health outcomes. This pilot study explored implicit weight bias among pre-licensure nursing students towards obese patients, implements a structured intervention, and assesses changes in attitudes, perceptions, and confidence levels. The study's purpose is to enhance nursing education curricula by incorporating training that promotes unbiased, patient-centered care for obese patients. Ideally, students will have the capability to reflect, respect, and respond to patients in a positive manor.
