Purpose: In this study, we aim to advance equitable access to culture-language-concordant care for older immigrants in long-term care (LTC) and homecare settings by examining current evidence and engaging interest holders in critical dialogue.

Background: Older immigrants with limited English/French proficiency experience language and cultural barriers that compromise safety, person-centred care, and social inclusion. Language translation technologies offer potential solutions, yet their acceptability, feasibility, and equity implications in elder care remain unclear.

Psychosocial Pathways To Poor Sleep Among High-Stress Military Workforce: A Decision-Tree Analysis, Shih-Ting Li, Yu-Chia Hong, Yun-Cune Chang, Hui-Hsun Chiang

Purpose: Sleep disturbances are common in high-stress occupational environments and strongly influence psychological and functional outcomes. This study identified hierarchical psychosocial and occupational predictors of poor sleep among active-duty military personnel using an interpretable machine learning model.

Methods: A cross-sectional study of 1,386 Taiwanese army personnel was conducted between 2020 and 2021. Sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI ≥ 5 as poor sleep). Depressive symptoms, perceived stress, and resilience were evaluated using validated scales. Background: Dating violence (DV) is a growing public and mental health concern among young people [1,2]. Gender-role internalization and power inequality shape both DV occurrence and help-seeking [3,4], yet Taiwan-specific qualitative evidence is limited.

Background: Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is a common arrhythmia associated with elevated risks of stroke and mortality. Oral anticoagulants (OACs) are prescribed to reduce stroke risk, yet many patients lack sufficient understanding of their use. Effective educational strategies are crucial for enhancing medication safety and minimizing complications.

Purpose: This study evaluated the effectiveness of a multifaceted, interactive education program for patients with AFib taking OACs. Grounded in the Health Belief Model, the intervention was delivered via a mobile application (App). Its effectiveness was compared to a control group receiving a printed brochure. Psychosocial And Media-Related Predictors Of Parental Weight Criticism Toward Children, Jihea Choi, Taeksoo Shin

Purpose: Parental weight-related communication significantly influences children's body image and psychosocial outcomes(1,2). As digital food media such as mukbang gains popularity, concerns have emerged regarding its impact on parental weight-focused communication(3,4). This study examined psychosocial and media-related predictors of parental weight criticism toward children in Korean families.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 750 Korean parents (N=1,075 parent-child dyads) recruited through stratified sampling. Parents of children aged 8-19 years completed validated questionnaires measuring parental weight bias, mukbang viewing attitudes and time, dissatisfaction with child's body, health concern, and weight criticism. Stepwise multiple regression identified significant predictors.

Background: Nursing education must prepare students not with knowledge but with the empathy and communication skills necessary to engage meaningfully with patients who experience mental illness. However, traditional lecture-based instruction often leads to fragmented knowledge and limited attitudinal change.

Purpose: This study implemented a patient-as-teacher and conducted cooperative learning model in an undergraduate course of psychiatric mental health nursing to improve students’ empathy, reduce stigma, and enhance caring competence.

This study examined the alignment between the Utah Core Mathematics Standards (UCMS) and the Mathematics Vision Project/Open Up Resources (MVPOUR) curriculum for Secondary Mathematics I, II, and III, as well as the proportion of Utah secondary students potentially exposed to that alignment through district-level curriculum approval. Using a qualitative comparative case study design, UCMS were systematically compared to MVPOUR topic foci to identify horizontal alignment (standards addressed within the intended course), vertical alignment (standards addressed across courses), combined horizontal and vertical alignment, or lack of alignment. Modern radio astronomy instruments require a wide field of view and high sensitivity. To this effect, BYU and Cornell University have developed the Advanced L-band Phased Array Camera for Astronomy (ALPACA), a fully cryogenic 69 dual-pol dipole array that produces 80 beams on the sky with 305 MHz instantaneous bandwidth centered on 1500 MHz. Integration testing has demonstrated proper beamforming and calibration, and ALPACA has been commissioned as an all-sky monitor to search for bright transients. Commissioning testing for ALPACA measured an element system noise temperature of 24 K and a beamformed system noise temperature of 17 K, making ALPACA …

The Late Jurassic greenhouse climate was characterized by elevated atmospheric CO₂ (pCO₂) at 600–1,000 ppm and sea-surface temperatures substantially warmer than today. These conditions peaked during the Oxfordian, when extensive epicontinental seaways, including the North American Sundance Sea, dominated mid-latitude paleoceanography. We present clumped isotope (Δ₄₇) and ⁸⁷Sr/⁸⁶Sr analyses of Oxfordian belemnite and Gryphaea fossils from the Sundance Sea to reconstruct paleotemperatures (tΔ₄₇) and assess the balance between open ocean and terrestrial inputs. In this research work, we explored the effectiveness of gamification in improving cybersecurity awareness and training users on targeted social engineering attacks. Traditional cybersecurity training focuses on lectures and videos. These training methods may not actively engage employees, which reduces their knowledge retention and ability to recognize social engineering attacks. This lack of involvement is a concern, as social engineering continues to be one of the most prevalent attack methods faced by end-users. Sautter III Center for Strategic Communication in the College of Communication and Media shows that sentiment on X about the film “The Odyssey” was 1200% more negative than the views of verified audience members. Mechanisms for the maintenance of chronic viruses are poorly understood, particularly for archaeal viruses. Here, we identify the product of Sulfolobus spindle-shaped virus 1 (SSV1) ORF a291 as a putative virally encoded toxin required for growth inhibition but dispensable for viral replication and virion production. Viruses lacking ORF a291 replicated their genomes and formed morphologically normal spindle-shaped particles, yet failed to inhibit the growth of uninfected Saccharolobus solfataricus. Substitution of residues at a predicted N-terminal signal peptide cleavage site abolished growth suppression without affecting replication, suggesting that secretion is essential for toxin function. Purpose: This quality improvement project evaluated the feasibility of implementing a telehealth communication intervention in an outpatient hospice organization. Project aims were to reduce Type I live hospice discharges by at least 2.5% and improve caregiver quality of life (QOL).

Methods: Zoom for Healthcare® video visits and three-way telephone communication supplemented standard nurse practitioner hospice visits during a three-month implementation period. Accurate dose delivery at the chest wall-supraclavicular (CW-SCV) junction remains an important challenge in breast irradiation, especially when multileaf collimator (MLC) leaves are intentionally opened beyond the collimator jaws to improve junction coverage. This study evaluated the dosimetric accuracy of the Varian Eclipse treatment planning system (TPS) at the CW-SCV junction using the Anisotropic Analytical Algorithm (AAA) and Acuros XB calculation algorithms with mono-isocentric and dual-isocentric treatment techniques.
