Our paper analyses the practical dimensions of obtaining informed consent in qualitative research, drawing on the reflective insight from fieldwork conducted as part of a study on the professional identity of primary (elementary) teachers in community schools in Nepal. Our study builds on and extends the understanding of informed consent as a legal and ethical requirement (Kadam, 2017) while considering the complexities of fieldwork. Drawing on interactions with six teachers and using the first author's detailed fieldnotes and reflexive memos, our study explores the challenges researchers face in securing consent during qualitative interviews. This hermeneutical phenomenology study explored teachers’ lived experiences facing verbal or physical aggression from students after schools reopened post-COVID-19. Grounded in Bandura’s Social Learning Theory, Heider’s Attribution Theory, and Lazarus and Folkman’s Transactional Stress Theory, the study addressed the research question: What were teachers’ lived experiences with verbal or physical aggression from students after the first wave of COVID-19? Purposive and snowball sampling strategies were used in the study. This study aims to explore English department students’ perceptions regarding the effectiveness of Fondi Application (FA) in enhancing speaking proficiency. FA is a Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) application that provides conversations in the form of voice calls packaged like games. This qualitative approach is based on semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis. Five selected participants with FA technology intervention were interviewed about their perception after using the application as self-learning media for two months. In response to recent policy shifts allowing the establishment of new nursing programs in the Philippines, this study assesses the perceived readiness of Sorsogon, a geographically underserved province, to implement a bachelor of science in nursing program. Background: Altered expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) is implicated in lung carcinogenesis, but little research has investigated the association of miRNA alterations with lung cancer stage or smoking status. To identify such alterations in lung adenocarcinoma, we conducted miRNA profiling.

Methods: Lung adenocarcinoma specimens and paired nonneoplastic lung tissues from 58 patients who had received no preoperative therapy and underwent tumor resection from 1991 to 2006 were collected from tumor tissue banks. Thirty (52%) of the tumors were stage I and 28 (48%) stage II or higher. Twenty-five (43%) patients were nonsmokers and 33 (57%) were smokers. To identify miRNAs of …

Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) presents unique clinical challenges, including frequent central nervous system (CNS) metastases. At present, comparative real-world data on ALK inhibitors remain limited. This study aimed to compare real-world progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) among patients with ALK-positive NSCLC treated with first-line alectinib or brigatinib using nationwide South Korean data.

BACKGROUND: Vaccination is one of the most effective public health interventions, preventing millions of deaths globally. However, vaccine hesitancy persists, not only among the public, but also among healthcare professionals (HCPs), who serve as key sources of vaccine information. This study assesses HCPs' vaccination attitudes and estimates the prevalence and determinants of vaccine hesitancy in the UAE.

DESIGN AND METHODS: This cross-sectional, descriptive study surveyed HCPs across the UAE from March to October 2024 using a 57-item questionnaire adapted from previous literature. Univariate, bivariate (chi-squared test), and multivariate (logistic regression) analyses were conducted.

This article is a conceptual but empirically grounded exploration of how Filipino freelance creatives construct and navigate freelance work. Using the sibat (spear) as a metaphor for movement and survival, the paper unpacks freelance work as hanapbuhay (livelihood) pursued in the quest for kalayaan (freedom). Building from emic narratives of sixteen (16) freelance creatives, the paper develops a conceptual model of freedom through three movements: Kalayaang Magsibat (freedom to enter), Kalayaan sa Pagsisibat (freedom to persist), and Kalayaang Sumibat (freedom to exit). Background and Objective: Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) encompasses a continuum of abnormal placentation conditions associated with significant maternal and fetal morbidity. Management of PAS requires coordinated cesarean hysterectomy. Associated morbidities include blood transfusion, coagulopathy, and intensive care unit (ICU) admission. Accurate prediction of ICU admission allows for enhanced multidisciplinary management, coordination of care and utilization of resources. Scoring systems exist in other surgical specialties that can predict the likelihood of ICU admission, but these have not been applied to an obstetric population. Background/Objectives: This systematic review summarizes the evidence regarding potential mechanisms underlying the relationship between spiritual practices and cognitive health in adults. The review was performed based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) checklist.

Methods: An extensive search of six electronic databases (i.e., PubMed, PsycINFO, Embase, Sociological Abstracts, ATLA, CINAHL) was conducted using keywords related to spiritual practices, religious activities, and cognitive health from 1 January 2000 to December 2025. BACKGROUND: Mitral annular calcification (MAC) poses technical and clinical challenges in patients undergoing mitral valve intervention. Patients with severe MAC were excluded from major previous randomized controlled trials evaluating mitral therapies. Consequently, outcomes following mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (M-TEER) in this population remain controversial.

METHODS: MEDLINE and EMBASE were searched through June 2025 to identify studies reporting outcomes after M-TEER in patients with MAC. The synthesis and stabilization of CuONPs at room temperature by using an aqueous extract of orange peel are described. The reason for the appearance of UV-vis absorption spectra peak at (∼439 nm) may be given as the evidence for forming CuONPs. In general, the XRD spectrum of the CuONPs agrees with the previous studies for Cu metal. Transmission Electron Microscopy exhibits irregular crystalline particles. Thus, the average particle size is ∼17 nm. CuONPs have shown potent bactericidal activities.
