Introduction: While favorable outcomes have consistently been reported following treatment of disc degeneration with cervical total disc replacement (cTDR), the development of heterotopic ossification (HO) at the index level has been reported. This study evaluated baseline characteristics potentially associated with the development of HO, as well as the impact of HO on 5-year clinical outcomes Materials and Methods: Baseline characteristics and 5-year outcomes of two-level polyetheretherketone (PEEK)-on-ceramic cTDR patients were stratified by worst HO grade at either index level through 5 years (defined as grade 1, 2, 3 or 4 on the McAfee/Mehren scale). A Novel Drying Technology Based On Supercritical Carbon Dioxide To Enhance The Functional Properties Of Red Lentil Proteins, Niveditha Asaithambi, Arda Tuhanioglu, Ali Ubeyito

Red lentils are protein-rich sources that are highly regarded in the plant-based food industry for their color. Appropriate drying methods are essential for maintaining the physicochemical and nutritional properties of the proteins. This study investigates the impact of three drying methods, namely oven drying, freeze-drying, and supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO₂) drying, on the physicochemical and functional properties of red lentil proteins (RLP). SC-CO₂ drying was optimized at varying temperatures (35–55 °C), pressures (10–20 MPa), and CO₂ flow rates (2–3 L/min), with optimal drying observed at 55 °C, 20 MPa, and 3 L/min, resulting in significantly reduced moisture content (5.7 %). …

Since the 1972 Munich Olympics, mass gatherings for sport, music, and other entertainment have been viewed as highly vulnerable, culturally significant targets for terrorist attacks. Although research on the enactment and implications of terrorism have become more commonplace, comparatively little research has examined terrorism in the context of organized gatherings and the event venues which host them. Through a rapid evidence review, we summarize empirical research on (a) international incidents of terrorism and (b) perceived terrorism risks at large-scale public events and event venues, as well as (c) their psychological, behavioral, and social/news media effects.
