Precision diagnosis and treatment of central nervous system (CNS) diseases are hindered by limited probe penetration, toxicity risks, and low imaging signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The blood-brain barrier (BBB) further restricts drug delivery, especially in stroke therapy. This study proposes and validates a natural exosome (sExos) from cyanobacteria, featuring intrinsic near-infrared-I (NIR-I) autofluorescence, with strong imaging and neuroprotective functions. As a theranostic nanoplatform, sExos enable integrated diagnosis and treatment of stroke and other brain disorders. Enriched with the fluorescent phycobiliprotein ApcE, sExos support label-free, high-SNR brain imaging in the NIR-I window. In vivo, sExos cross the BBB and accumulate in …

Double-crested cormorants (Nannopterum auritum) are piscivorous, migratory waterbirds that often conflict with fisheries interests in North America, stemming from depredation effects on fish populations. A new permitting process in the United States allows natural resource agencies to request permits for lethal take of cormorants in special instances like depredation of managed fish stocks. This rule does not include guidance for when cormorant take might be actionable. We developed a hierarchical structured decision making (SDM) framework for evaluating whether, when, and how much cormorant take might be necessary. Peripheral Artery Occlusive Disease (PAOD) is a cardiovascular disease that affects more than 200 million people. It is characterized by atherosclerosis, a biologic process where peripheral arteries are restricted due to a buildup in cholesterol and fats. This eventually leads to ischemia, developing complications such as chronic inflammation and possible limb amputation. The current standard of care for patients includes surgical revascularization and exercise therapy. These treatment strategies have had limited success with alleviating symptoms and restoring perfusion, however, many patients still experience ischemia and do not fully restore blood flow. Status Reports of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources

The Status Reports of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources of Western Australia (SRFAR) provides an annual update on the state of the fish stocks and other aquatic resources of Western Australia (WA). These reports outline the most recent assessments of the cumulative risk status for each of the aquatic resources (assets) within WA’s six bioregions using an Ecosystem Based Fisheries Management (EBFM) approach. The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Dveelopment’s (DPIRD) risk based EBFM framework is the WA Government’s basis for management of all of WA’s aquatic resources.

Speaking and gesturing are fundamental aspects of human communication that commonly occur while main- taining upright posture. Although speech and postural control are known to compete for shared motor-cognitive resources, it remains unclear how co-speech gestures affect balance control and their underlying neural mecha- nisms. Using combined behavioral and neuroimaging approaches, we investigated whether co-speech gestures interfere with concurrent postural control, whether this interference depends on the spatial reference frame (egocentric vs. allocentric), and whether dual-task costs arise from competing motor demands, overlapping cog- nitive processes, or both. This thesis presents a comparative technical and conservation study of three Islamic ceramics in the collection of the Buffalo Museum of Science: a 9th-century Nishapur bowl, a Nishapur-style pastiche plate assembled in the early 20th century, and a 17th-century Kubachi dish. Through historical research, condition assessment, multispectral imaging, elemental analysis, and microscopy, the study investigates the materials and fabrication technologies of each object while documenting the layered histories of excavation, collecting, and restoration that shaped their current forms. The general problem was that African Americans may leave student affairs in community colleges if they do not perceive supervisory support for professional development and, in turn, career advancement. This participatory action research study explored the effects of Harkness seminars on students’ cognitive, affective, and metacognitive learning in secondary humanities classes. Educators need an effective, flexible, and adaptive method to promote student learning beyond superficial content acquisition. With the decoupling of virtue formation from knowledge acquisition, knowledge gaps from COVID-19 lockdowns, and the rise of artificial intelligence in student plagiarism, a proven method to address all aspects of student formation is needed. Background and Hypothesis: Schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSDs) produce severe symptoms, disability, and premature mortality, but only partially effective symptomatic treatments exist. Treatment development is impeded by lack of insight into disease mechanisms or objective biomarkers for clinical trials. Advances in genetics and neurobiology have converged on strong pathogenic hypotheses for SSDs centered on synapse dysfunction and excessive pruning, pathogenic processes that may produce measurable proteomic evidence in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). It contains multiple business documents and records, such as expansion plans, invoices, and LIVE evaluation records. The collection also explores the personal growth and achievements of David and Jeanne Beck, the owners of Craw-Beck Vineyard. This includes their enrollment at Chemeketa Community College, their involvement in the wine industry in Oregon, and their personal assortment of books and articles. This geodatabase brings together restoration and mitigation project data for wetlands and eelgrass in and around Humboldt Bay, alongside referential layers, such as historic saltmarsh extent, to support future restoration planning. The scope of the database is limited to projects that have restored tidal influence, created or restored tidal slough channels or wetland channels, restored wetland contours, or created off-channel ponds. Projects were excluded that only performed invasive plant removal, vegetation management, or fish passage barrier removal.

Project data was sourced from Coastal Development Permits and a collection of restoration project documents called the Low Tide Archive. All of the …

This dataset was developed as part of the Humboldt Bay / Eel River Delta Historic Atlas project. It is intended to give a general representation of spatial salt marsh changes over time. Historic maps through 1940 were digitized, these and aerial photos were utilized to identify active channels, centerlines, salt marsh, shoreline, reclaimed saltmarsh, riparian soils and active channels for each decade of available imagery.

The original 2007 data was merged and cleaned for ease of display and data transfer, within the “vector_merged” dataset of the geodatabase. The original individual feature classes can be found in the “vector_original” dataset - …

The misidentification of monetary policy shocks typically produces the price, and the exchange rate puzzles in empirical studies. Numerous identification approaches have been introduced in the VAR literature, and these approaches have been applied to address anomalies in various countries. This study examines how well these identification approaches have worked in resolving price and exchange rate puzzles under state dominance in the financial sector in a highly dollarized and shallow financial market environment of Central Asian Economies (CAEs). In Indonesia, the Bank Soundness Index (BSI) serves as an early warning instrument for assessing the stability of Conventional Commercial Banks (CCBs) and Islamic Commercial Banks (ICBs). This study develops the BSI employing the Generalized Dynamic Principal Component Analysis (GDPCA) methodology and incorporates the fundamental indicators from the Financial Soundness Indicators released by the IMF. The BSI for CCBs is formulated using three primary components, with the Operating Expense to Operating Income ratio assigned the greatest weight. This project centers around three albumen landscape photographs from the 1870s and 1880s. The three photographs all display severe, yet visually different foxing and staining. The project explores the cause of the foxing on each photograph and how that affects the photographic structure. The analytical techniques utilized were technical imaging, x-radiography, optical microscopy, x-ray fluorescence mapping, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, and microflora isolation.

Background: In 2019, the American Society of ExtraCorporeal Technology (AmSECT) approved the inaugural Standards and Guidelines for Pediatric and Congenital Perfusion Practice. These standards and guidelines were created with the intent of periodic revision to ensure continued alignment with evolving best practices. In 2023, an AmSECT subcommittee initiated this review in consideration of current literature and contemporary clinical practices.

The study investigates the structural and situational drivers of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) perpetrated by state security actors in the context of Nigeria’s counterinsurgency campaigns in Borno State. Drawing on militarized masculinity and strain and deprivation theories, and using a qualitative, interpretive research design, the study argues that CRSV is not an isolated or episodic form of deviance by individual soldiers and security personnel but is embedded in routine military–civilian interactions. Advancing an interactionist explanation of CRSV in Nigeria’s Islamist counterinsurgency operations, the study demonstrates that the likelihood of sexual violence increases through the interaction of gendered institutional norms, operational …

Background: Care models significantly impact older adults' mental health, yet the dynamic interplay among symptoms remains unclear. This study compared the integrated sleep–psychological–social support networks between older adults in community home-based and institutional care. Methods: We included 973 adults aged ≥ 60 years (home-based: n = 727; institutional: n = 246). Mental health networks were estimated using Gaussian Graphical Models. We evaluated node centrality, bridge expected influence, and assessed between-group differences using the Network Comparison Test (NCT) and stability analyses.
