The purpose of this study was to determine if relationships existed between student vaping habits in proximity to a college campus and current tobacco related bans implemented by the institution. Determining these relationships provided insights that can be utilized to maximize effectiveness of campus tobacco policy. Research outcomes represented a framework for educating current and potential tobacco consumers on campus regarding harm reduction, tobacco cessation, and resources available to prevent a lifetime of nicotine addiction or other tobacco related harm to health. This project of practice evaluated the impact of Living Learning Communities (LLCs) on student success, retention, and sense of belonging at a regional public university. The program evaluation includes quantitative data comparing GPA and retention rates of LLC and non-LLC students, a sense of belonging scale, and qualitative data gathered from interviews and surveys with LLC participants and program partners. Findings indicate that LLC participation positively correlates with increased student retention and a stronger sense of community, though academic performance differences were not statistically significant. Rapid detection of large vessel occlusion (LVO) is critical due to its high mortality and narrow treatment window. Although machine learning (ML) and deep learning tools show promise for LVO prediction, their clinical use is hindered by inconsistent pre-hospital data, variable LVO rates, limited interpretability, and high costs. This study introduces a hybrid neural network (HNN) that integrates classical statistical learning with neural networks to combine interpretability and structure with flexibility and regularization. Impulsivity is a key behavioral trait with broad implications for clinical disorders such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ADHD, and substance use disorders SUD, where impaired inhibitory control contributes to maladaptive outcomes. In preclinical research, animal models provide valuable tools for examining behavioral processes associated with impulsivity. The Differential Reinforcement of Low Rates (DRL) schedule, offers a precise measure of response inhibition and timing by requiring subjects to withhold responses for reinforcement. This study compares two methods for estimating the fatigue limit of 17-4 PH stainless steel (H900): the Dixon–Mood staircase and Kujawski 1/Nf linear method. Tests were conducted on an MTS Acumen 3 kN system under axial tension–tension loading at R = 0.1 and 50 Hz, following the standard practice defined in ASTM E466-15. Flat specimens were fabricated by water-jet cutting and polished. Tensile tests verified mechanical properties consistent with published data for the H900 condition. Fifteen specimens tested by the staircase method yielded a mean fatigue limit of 1138 MPa. The 1/Nf analysis using four specimens produced 1159 MPa, 2 …

This study identifies course-level patterns of LMS use in fully asynchronous graduate engineering management courses and examines the relationships between LMS use, course type, student satisfaction, and performance. Using the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework and Moore’s interaction types, LMS metrics were mapped to learner–content, learner–learner, and learner–instructor interactions and clustered with k-means across nine courses. Profiles emerged—content-dominant, instructor-active, and balanced—showing that knowledge-based courses often emphasize content engagement, while application-based courses tend to be more balanced or instructor-driven. Satisfaction correlated most strongly with teaching/social-presence indicators (e.g., feedback cadence, discussion activity), whereas performance aligned with content-oriented engagement. Serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are commonly prescribed to pregnant women experiencing depression. Such drugs, however, might adversely affect placenta and fetal brain development. Parietal trophoblast giant cells (pTGCs) in the mouse placenta are postulated to internalize maternal serotonin (5-HT) via transport through SERT, encoded by Slc6a4, and to provide the initial source of 5-HT to the emerging brain via the placental–brain axis. Genetic deletion of Slc6a4 in pTGCs has been hypothesized to impact placental and fetal brain development. This report presents new modelling of the greenhouse gas emissions attributable to Western Australia’s agricultural industries and provides an overview of sequestration at the state level. The report updates the estimates from previous technical reports by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD). It presents not only emissions from agricultural activities in Western Australia (WA) but also from the production of agricultural inputs and energy use. This broader picture of emissions aligns with frameworks for emissions reporting at the business and product level.

This report proposes the establishment of a national complaint portal, complaints.gov, to connect consumers with government resources to remediate disputes with business products or services. The report references the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's consumer complaint portal – used to remediate disputes regarding loans, credit, and other consumer financial products – as a model for complaint clearinghouse infrastructure that can be integrated across the federal government. The report details steps for implementation of the complaints.gov portal and argues for consumer complaint remediation as a strategy for identifying market failures and promoting fair competition.

A series of calcium rare earth silicate chlorides, CaLnSiO4Cl (Ln = Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, and Tb), was obtained as single crystals from flux crystal growth. The structures were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction and were found to be related to the spodiosite/Wagnerite mineral structure, Ca2PO4F. The obtained compositions are variations of the spodiosite structure that result from two simultaneous elemental substitutions. Replacing one calcium for one rare earth element and the simultaneous replacement of one VO4³⁻ or PO4³⁻ with one SiO4⁴⁻. CaEuSiO4Cl was found to luminesce, and its photoluminescence spectrum is reported.

Water quality has traditionally been measured via in situ sensors and satellites. The latter has limited applicability for smaller inland water bodies, while the former requires significant logistics, labor, and expense for routine sampling, and reactive/spurious sampling is often not feasible as a result (e.g., sampling pre-/post-storm). Consequently, small uncrewed aircraft system-based (sUAS-based) sampling has emerged as a potential solution to bridge these sampling gaps and challenges. Gibbs energy models necessary to describe the thermochemical behavior of cesium and iodine in molten FLiNaK (46.5LiF-11.5NaF-42KF mol%), a proposed molten salt reactor coolant and fuel solvent, have been developed as they are of concern due to their high radiotoxicity and volatility. The six constituent pseudo-binary systems LiI-CsI, LiI-KI, LiI-NaI, NaI-KI, KI-CsI and NaI-CsI were evaluated using available phase equilibria and mixing enthalpy measurements. This study employed a qualitative research design to explore the experiences of 10 Black female doctoral students as they matriculated and successfully graduated from doctoral programs at Predominantly White Institutions (PWIs) and a Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in Southeast Texas. A descriptive phenomenological research methodology was employed in this study to illustrate the struggles and barriers Black females face during matriculation and their persistence in achieving success in a doctoral program. The objectives of this paper were to describe new Extension agent hires’ levels of burnout during their first year on the job, and to determine if there are significant predictors for burnout based on new Extension agent hires’ gender and age. We implemented a longitudinal quantitative research design using the Maslach Burnout Inventory to measure burnout with 58 new Extension agent hires. Survey data were collected monthly throughout the new agents’ first year on the job. New Extension professionals’ burnout levels did increase over the course of their first year on the job.
