ABSTRACT Over the past 70 years, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has emerged as a critical public health concern in Asia. Regional challenges such as dense population, scarce resources, and diverse healthcare systems further complicate the containment efforts. To address this, Asian countries have adopted several strategies and policies. A comprehensive review of published literature was conducted to identify key policies and interventions. Findings revealed diverse approaches to AMR containment, including surveillance and monitoring systems, antibiotic stewardship programs, infection control measures, vaccination strategies, and public health awareness campaigns. ABSTRACT Objectives: To conduct a community-wide screening of the Saudi population for chronic kidney disease risk factors. Methods: This study utilized a non-selective, exploratory point-of-care screening approach involving 215 participants in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, during a kidney disease awareness campaign for World Kidney Day in March 2022. Participants were randomly selected, and their estimated glomerular filtration rates (eGFRs) were measured to assess kidney function. Results: The findings revealed that 4% of participants had eGFRs less than 60 mL/min/1.73 m², 34% had eGFRs between 60 and 90 mL/min/1.73 m², and the rest had eGFRs over 90 mL/min/1.73 m². The ADA 9th District delegation, representing Michigan and Wisconsin, attended the ADA House of Delegates meeting in Washington, D.C., in October, which coincided with the ADA SmileCon event. During the meeting, Dr. Deb Peters, former MDA president and MDA House Speaker, was elected Speaker of the ADA House. This historic election makes Dr. Peters the first female ADA speaker. Dr. Michele Tulak-Gorecki, outgoing 9th District ADA trustee, was unsuccessful in her bid for ADA president-elect. The next ADA House meeting is scheduled for October 10-13, 2026, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Credentialing dental assistants is presented as a method to enhance productivity and address workforce shortages; currently, only about 15% of Michigan dental assistants are Registered Dental Assistants (RDAs). A case study at Thunder Bay Community Health Service, an FQHC in Northern Michigan, illustrates success, where RDAs perform expanded functions—like placing restorations and monitoring nitrous oxide—boosting clinic productivity by 16%. The clinic supports its dental assistants by covering education and exam expenses and providing study time during work hours. This investment improves job satisfaction, confidence, morale, and patient communication among staff, strengthening employee retention.

One critically endangered species under investigation is the dusky gopher frog (Lithobates sevosus), which is an endemic species of frog found in the southeastern United States. Historically found from Louisiana to Alabama, a drought in 2002 narrowed the dusky gopher frog range even further. This study investigates how English influences the Spanish acquisition of English-speaking learners by analyzing written errors, background factors, and interview data. Using two linguistic classification frameworks, it identifies both the types and underlying causes of errors, revealing that gender and plural agreement issues, verb forms, word order problems, and subjunctive misuse are the most frequent difficulties. These errors primarily stem from first-language transfer, overgeneralization, and instructional gaps. The findings highlight the need for targeted practice, contrastive analysis, and greater exposure to authentic Spanish input. Cardiorespiratory fitness, measured as maximal oxygen consumption (VO₂max) is a critical predictor of all-cause mortality and overall cardiovascular health. Metabolic carts are the current gold standard for evaluation of VO₂max, but are inaccessible to most facilities and individuals, and are expensive ($20,000+). Near-Infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) has emerged as an accessible and affordable ($5,000-$10,000) alternative for evaluating skeletal muscle oxygenation kinetics and mitochondrial oxidative capacity. TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43) is a 43 kDa RNA-binding protein linked to several neurodegenerative diseases, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal dementia (FTD), and Alzheimer’s disease. 5-7,28,30,33 Studying full-length TDP-43 has been difficult because of its intrinsic instability and tendency to aggregate.19,25,28,33,36 In this study, we focused on overcoming the difficulties to express full-length TDP-43 in E. coli recombinantly. We focused on expressing full-length TDP-43 as a fusion construct with a maltose-binding protein (MBP) to improve solubility and stability. Background: Cryptococcal meningitis remains a leading cause of HIV/AIDS-related mortality, predominantly in Sub-Saharan Africa. Current screening and prevention efforts primarily target antiretroviral therapy (ART)-naïve patients, whereas strategies for ART-experienced individuals are less well defined.

Objectives: This study primarily aimed at determining the prevalence of asymptomatic cryptococcal antigenemia (ACA) among ART-naïve and ART-experienced patients, along with associated factors and predictors of three-month outcomes among HIV patients in three HIV clinics in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Secondarily, factors associated with serum cryptococcal antigen positivity in the overall study population were also assessed.

BACKGROUND: Sexual dysfunction is a significant toxicity of pelvic radiation therapy (RT) for female rectal cancer patients and may be more common with intensity-modulated techniques compared to three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT). However, limited research has evaluated dose sparing of female sexual organs at risk (OARs), particularly erectile tissues that are critical for sexual function.

PURPOSE: This feasibility study aimed to demonstrate the practicality of contouring and sparing female sexual OARs in rectal cancer RT by generating sexual organ-sparing volumetric modulated arc therapy (SO-VMAT) plans from a small 3D-CRT cohort and comparing dose distributions to guide future planning.

This project explores the development of an affordable, standards-based digital collections management system designed for small galleries, independent artists, and emerging institutions. Using the artist’s own studio collection as a case study, the research integrates accessible hardware and open-source technologies, including the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF), Artwork Archive, GitHub Pages, and the Internet Archive, to establish a transparent, replicable workflow for cataloguing and publication. The project demonstrates how interoperability, metadata consistency, and open access can be achieved without reliance on costly proprietary systems, such as TMS Collections or PastPerfect.

This study examines culture-dependent microbial monitoring in a closed lunar/Martian analog habitat, focusing on viable community dynamics relevant to long-duration missions. A standardized sampling and cultivation pipeline was implemented in ILMAH to track microbial succession and persistence under realistic operational conditions. Surface samples were collected across eight habitat zones at five mission timepoints (Days 0, 5, 10, 15, 20) during a 21-day crewed mission. Ecological interactions such as predation are vital to shaping the distribution of organisms. For interactions to occur, organisms must undertake movement, such as dispersal, that places them in proximity to the organisms with which they may interact. Geographically isolated wetlands (GIW) are productive and biodiverse ecosystems, but little is known on broad geographic scales about the determinants of their fauna. Fishes have difficulty colonizing GIW, whereas amphibians and macroinvertebrates are adept overland dispersers – though they may be sensitive to top-down control by fishes. In 2015, the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO) measured the first gravitational waves (GWs) from the coalescence of two stellar-mass black holes. This detection marked a historic milestone in astrophysics, confirming general relativity and establishing the existence of gravitationally bound black holes. Since then, researchers have extended the search to even more massive black hole mergers. Recently, the International Pulsar Timing Array (IPTA), including the North American Nanohertz Observatory for Gravitational Waves (NANOGrav), detected a nanohertz GW background from supermassive black hole binaries (SMBHBs), black holes with masses M ≃10^7−10^9 M⊙ orbiting throughout the universe. As Large Language Models (LLMs) are increasingly getting integrated into software development workflows, understanding their reliability, error patterns and interpretability in real-world development scenarios is crucial for establishing their practical utility. This study evaluates and interprets the performance of 15 open-source LLM models, including Code LLaMa, Granite Code, DeepSeek-Coder-V2, and Yi-Coder on code translation and generation from requirements using the Rosetta Code dataset across diverse programming languages and tasks. Syntactic correctness and code quality are quantified using metrics such as CodeBLEU, chrF, and METEOR. Interpretability is explored through Feature Ablation and Shapley Value Sampling to elucidate prompt processing mechanisms. Results …
