Breastfeeding Safety Following Maternal Anesthesia: A Guideline Development, Megan Honea, Mary Johnson

Recommendations regarding breastfeeding following maternal anesthesia are inconsistent and often not up to date with current best practice guidelines. Previous recommendations have led to mothers unnecessarily “pumping and dumping” breast milk has benefits for both mother and baby. These benefits include (a) increasing the infant’s access to colostrum, (b) encouraging mother-baby bonding, (c) improving the mother’s breastfeeding experience, (d) and providing significant health benefits to the infant. The purpose of this scholarly project was to develop a set of evidence-based recommendations that focus on mothers who desire to breastfeed following general anesthesia. Plastic pollution in the world’s oceans threatens ecosystems and biodiversity. The connected nature of the marine environment suggests that coordinated actions by countries sharing an ocean border may provide more effective pollution control than unilateral actions by any one country. However, countries often fail to cooperate, even when joint economic benefits would be higher under cooperation. Here we present a modelling framework to determine the potential economic benefits of cooperative marine plastic pollution management. Help-Seeking Among Early Adolescents Who Use Physical Peer Violence, Kelli Franco, Elizabeth Baumler, Leila Wood, Heidi Adams Rueda, Jeffrey R Temple

Despite accumulating research on help-seeking among violence victims, little is known about help-seeking among youth who use violence. In a racially and ethnically diverse sample of early adolescents (N=2,676; 50.3% female; Mage=12.67), participants self-reported physical bullying, physical fighting, physical dating violence perpetration, and help-seeking intentions over the past year. T-tests and one-way ANOVAs examined help-seeking by sex and race, respectively. Prevalence and comparisons of help-seeking across youth with and without any violence were examined. Youth who used any physical peer violence (n=965) reported lower help-seeking intentions than their peers, and among violent youth, males reported …

UNLABELLED: Metastasis is the main cause of prostate cancer-associated deaths, highlighting the urgent need to determine the mechanisms underlying prostate cancer progression. TROP2 (also known as tumor-associated calcium signal transducer 2) is an oncogenic transmembrane surface protein that is highly expressed in metastatic prostate cancer. Naturally occurring cleavage of TROP2 leads to a release of the TROP2 extracellular domain (TECD) into the extracellular environment. In this study, we identified an important functional role of TECD in prostate cancer metastasis. Background: Remote ischaemic preconditioning (RIPC) might reduce acute kidney injury after cardiac surgery. Protective effects appear to be restricted to patients with early and transient increases in two cell cycle arrest markers, tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-2 (TIMP-2) and insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 7 (IGFBP7), in urine. Studies suggest that propofol can attenuate the preconditioning effect on the myocardium. This study investigated whether propofol diminishes the renoprotective effect associated with the early transient increases in TIMP-2 and IGFBP7.

This study investigates how economic freedom, trade freedom, institutional quality, financial inclusion, and economic complexity influence renewable energy transitions across the QUAD nations. Employing panel data from 2005 to 2022 for QUAD countries, this study utilizes CS-ARDL, NARDL, and Dumitrescu-Hurlin causality tests to analyze both symmetric and asymmetric long-run and short-run dynamics. The results reveal that economic freedom, institutional quality, and financial inclusion significantly enhance renewable energy consumption, while trade freedom and economic complexity have adverse effects in the long run. Institutional quality strongly moderates the influence of economic and trade freedom, intensifying their positive impact. Asymmetric analysis shows that …

Effective stormwater management is essential for enhancing the resilience of urban environments facing challenges from climate change, aging infrastructure, and increasing impervious surfaces. As cities adopt green stormwater infrastructure such as bioswales to relieve these pressures, understanding the hydrologic behavior within these systems becomes essential. This study investigated soil moisture dynamics in New Haven, Connecticut by analyzing the seven critical points (A, B, C, D, E, F′, and F) that describe pre-storm, during storm and post storm drying behavior within bioswale systems. Negation is a fundamental linguistic concept used by humans to convey information that they do not desire. Despite this, minimal research has focused on negation within text-guided image editing. This lack of research means that vision-language models (VLMs) for image editing may struggle to understand negation, implying that they struggle to provide accurate results. One barrier to achieving human-level intelligence is the lack of a standard collection by which research into negation can be evaluated. Anthropogenic activities are reshaping the elemental composition of freshwater ecosystems, often creating stoichiometric imbalances that influence the growth, physiology and interactions of aquatic organisms. Ecological stoichiometric theory (EST) provides a framework for examining these changes by linking organismal elemental regulation to broader ecosystem processes. While traditionally focused on elements, such as carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P), emerging stressors highlight the need to expand this framework to be more elementally inclusive for the examination of novel interactions. How animal cell types, tissues, and regional body plans arose is a fundamental question in EvoDevo. Many current efforts attempt to link genetic information to the morphology of cells, tissues and regionalization of animal body plans using single-cell sequencing of cell populations. However, a lack of in-depth understanding of the morphology of non-bilaterian animals remains a considerable block to understanding the transitions between bilaterian and non-bilaterian cells and tissues. Background: Prescribed burning is an effective tool for reducing fuels in many forest types, yet there have been few opportunities to study forest resilience to wildfire in areas previously treated. In 2020, a large-scale high-intensity wildfire burned through an old-growth coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) forest with a mixed land management history, providing a rare opportunity to compare early post-wildfire data between areas with and without previous application of prescribed burning. To address these limitations, this study introduces BiLens, a multimodal recommendation framework that integrates both visual and textual information. NASA’s System-Wide Safety Project achieved a pivotal milestone through a structured observation simulation experiment aiming to transform safety in aviation. Building on prior initiatives, the study investigates pilot behavior and resilience during challenging scenarios. We studied 24 commercial pilots performing simulated real-world challenges during approach to KCLT such as traffic compression, convective weather, and modulating workload. We acquired standard human factors assessments like NASA-TLX and SART, and also collected a variety of psychophysiological measures such as EEG, ECG, and eye tracking.
