Background People living with epilepsy (PWE) experience higher rates of depression compared with the general population. Depression in PWE is associated with increased seizure burden and reduced quality of life. We aimed to examine clinical and demographic correlates of depression severity using the nine-item Patient Health Questionnaire in PWE experiencing negative health events in the past 6 months. The Appellate Term reversed a money judgment and reinstated a tenant's rent overcharge defenses and counterclaims, remanding for reconsideration. While the appeal regarding possession was dismissed as moot due to the tenant's eviction, the monetary claims persisted. The court held that recent legislative amendments (L. 2024, Ch. 95 § 4) mandating a "totality of the circumstances" standard for fraudulent deregulation claims apply to pending cases. This new standard, more favorable to tenants, requires the lower court to determine if the landlord knowingly engaged in a fraudulent scheme to remove the apartment from rent stabilization.

BACKGROUND: Right ventricular failure (RVF) is the primary determinant of outcomes in pulmonary hypertension (PH). Coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD), defined by capillary rarefaction and endothelial dysfunction, may contribute to RVF but remains poorly characterized. CMD, defined by capillary rarefaction and endothelial dysfunction, may contribute to RVF through impaired myocardial oxygen delivery and fibrotic remodeling.

OBJECTIVES: To characterize right ventricle (RV) CMD and myocardial fibrosis in explanted human hearts and examine associations with echocardiographic and hemodynamic indices of RVF across PH subtypes.

This quantitative survey study explored whether acculturation and enculturation predicted parenting styles among second-generation Korean American adults. The study was guided by Berry’s acculturation theory, Kim’s enculturation theory, and Baumrind’s parenting typology. Two research questions were addressed: (a) whether acculturation level predicted parenting style when controlling for parent age, gender, and number of children, and (b) whether enculturation level predicted parenting style when controlling for the same demographic variables. Nociplastic pain is a newly identified chronic pain phenotype characterized by widespread hyperalgesia and allodynia. Its etiological mechanisms are currently unknown, making medical intervention elusive. The proposed pathophysiological model connects immunosenescence with a degradation of the blood-brain barrier as a result of peripheral inflammation. Neuronal hyperexcitability and glial cell activation result, leading to nociplastic pain. It is currently thought that central sensitization is the key mechanistic driver of nociplastic pain, so this literature review seeks to expound on that. The law creating the new Trump Accounts explicitly authorizes employers to provide deposits matching contributions that their employees make to the accounts and also authorizes contributions by philanthropic organizations. Both features are essential for build­ing substantial lifetime assets for America’s children. Implementing them successfully – and ensuring that the funds reach every eligible child efficiently – will require an effective policy platform for routing, verifying, and reporting on third-party contributions. This brief discusses why traditional retail IRAs cannot support matching contributions and how to build a policy platform capable of accommodating multiple contribution streams.
