A (Mini) Mathematics Research Experience In A Math Teachers’ Circle Session, Michelle Manes, Linda Venenciano, Seanyelle Yagi

Journal of Math Circles

We describe a single Math Teachers’ Circle session during which a group of teachers collectively engaged in a “mini mathematics research experience.” This provides a model for providing research experiences for mathematics teachers through content-based professional development programs. We conjecture that these experiences will have many of the same benefits as research experiences for teachers in lab sciences.

This review highlights the economic aspects of Egyptian fisheries and their impact on fishing communities. Local fish production increased by about 46% between 2012 and 2021, yet consumption demand continues to outpace supply, creating a food gap that is filled through imports. Fish imports peaked in 2019 at around 506 thousand tons, putting pressure on Egypt’s trade balance. Fish is a key dietary component for Egyptians, offering a relatively affordable source of protein compared to red meat and poultry. The general objective of the study was to determine the relationship between the use of sexual content online and sexual attitudes in adolescents. The study design was descriptive-correlational. The sample consisted of 260 adolescents between the ages of 15 and 19 from a public high school in Monterrey, Nuevo León. A 95% confidence level and a power level of 90% were estimated. A sociodemographic data sheet and the instrument for the use of sexual content on the Internet and the scale of sexual attitudes were applied. Assessment Of Cognitive Decline During Cancer Treatment: A Mixed-Methods Study, Katy Fisher-Cunningham, Trista Michelle Anderson

Background: Cancer-Related Cognitive Impairment (CRCI), often termed "chemo brain," impacts 50-70% of chemotherapy patients and 12-75% of cancer survivors, with symptoms such as memory difficulties, attention issues, and executive dysfunction potentially lasting up to 20 years. Most research has centered on breast cancer, leaving gaps for other cancer types. Non-treatment factors can also induce CRCI, including the cancer itself. The mechanisms of CRCI share similarities with Alzheimer's disease. Currently, there is no standardized assessment tool for CRCI, emphasizing the need for tailored evaluation methods.

Background The authors report a case of a 12-year-old girl who presented for neurosurgical evaluation one month after sustaining a ballistic injury to the anterior left side of her neck from a pellet gun accidental firing. Immediately following the misfire, the patient experienced pain in the left side of her neck that radiated to her shoulder, down her posterior arm, and to her middle fingers on the left hand. Subsequently, the patient experienced lingering numbness and developed progressive weakness in her left arm. The patient denied trouble swallowing or any other deficits.
