This paper is an expansion of the 44th Tucker Lecture on Civil Law. It deals with sources of law, codification, and the place of the civil code in the State of Louisiana. It explores to what extent it is possible to speak of the presence of an exegetical school of private law in Louisiana throughout the life of the Louisiana Civil Code. This paper is divided into five parts. First, it deals with foundational aspects of codification and of the Louisiana Civil Code. Second, it offers a conceptualization of exegesis. This article presents a historical survey of the codification of Louisiana civil law from a dynamic perspective, aiming to identify why a digest was preferred over a code, only to be replaced by a code intended to be a better digest. Although attempts to codify Louisiana civil law reconnected it with French sources and methodology after the Spanish period and the United States' purchase, the local legal community resisted the force of codification. Tourism is among the most essential factors for the international, European, and national economies. Since 1994, the EU has established clear rules regarding timeshare contracts to promote legal harmonization, consumer protection, and tourism, which impacts the functioning of the internal market. Although Albania is not part of the EU, the Albanian Courts have used acquis communautaire to rule on certain legal decisions. Azerbaijan has long faced challenges arising from the spread of arbitrary constructions and unauthorized settlements, with official data showing approximately half a million such structures across the country. These unregulated constructions contribute to social complications and hinder the efficient operation and development of the housing, real estate, and urban planning sectors. Currently, courts are handling numerous cases involving ownership disputes and potential demolitions linked to these constructions. The fascinating 2023 Louisiana Supreme Court case of Wederstrandt v. Kol[1] invokes the minds of legal scholars and displays a cautionary tale for the layperson. For the scholar, this case demonstrates skillful civilian statutory interpretation that highlights the exclusivity protecting the marriage articles in Louisiana’s Civil Code. However, for the layperson, this case uncovers a possible inequity within Louisiana’s wrongful death statutes that serves as a warning to choose your spouse wisely.

Genetics play a major role in diabetic retinopathy DR, which is a leading cause of blindness worldwide. Although the factors such as how long a person has had diabetes and high blood sugar are important, the wide variation and progression of DR indicates to a clear genetic influence. Hashimoto thyroiditis (HT) is a common autoimmune disorder, affecting women 7–10 times more often than men, that develops because of genetic susceptibility, X chromosome inactivation patterns modulated by environmental factors as well as micro biome composition, and leads to an imbalance in self-tolerance mechanisms. The consequential thyroid infiltration by lymphocytes, potentiated by antibody-mediated autoimmune response through the antibodies against thyroid peroxidase (TPO Abs), leads to a destruction of thyrocytes. The presence of TPO Abs is associated with a 2 to 4-fold increase in the risk of recurrent miscarriages and preterm birth in pregnant women. Aim: The aim of the study …

Background: Soft denture liners are widely used in prosthodontics for their ability to cushion masticatory forces and enhance comfort in patients with compromised oral mucosa. However, conventional liners often exhibit limitations such as poor adhesion to the denture base, microbial colonization, and inadequate mechanical stability. Materials and Methods: Strontium titanate (SrTiO₃) nanoparticles were incorporated into a self-cured soft denture liner. Three equal groups of fifteen specimens were created, each of which contained 0%, 1%, and 1.5% SrTiO₃ by weight. The study aimed to assess the antibiotic susceptibility profile of P. aeruginosa isolated from burn infections in hospitals in Baquba, AL Najaf and Karbala. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a major cause of healthcare-associated infections worldwide, often linked to multidrug resistance and limited treatment options. This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the molecular characteristics and antimicrobial resistance profiles of MRSA isolates recovered from diabetic foot ulcers in Al-Najaf Governorate, Iraq. A total of 76 S. aureus isolates were collected from patients attending three major hospitals. Identification was conducted using conventional microbiological methods, and methicillin resistance was confirmed phenotypically via cefoxitin disc diffusion and genotypically through PCR amplification of the mecA gene.
