The Helen Ruth Chambers Papers document the undergraduate experience of Helen Ruth Chambers Wren (1909–1985) during her years as a student at Winthrop College, from the late 1920s through her graduation in 1931 with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences. Helen was one of three sisters that graduated from Winthrop including Ella Margaret Chambers (Class of 1929) and Dorothy Chambers (Class of 1935). The collection consists primarily of student publications, academic work, and ephemera reflecting campus life, student organizations, and intellectual culture during this period.

This qualitative research examines the knowledge-sharing (KS) behaviour of employees within a non-profit organisation (NPO) based in Dublin, Ireland. This NPO is a community-based service provider that supports people with disabilities and their families. It operates under the aegis of the Health Service Executive (HSE). The ability of employees to share knowledge is fundamental to the sustained care of society’s most vulnerable. Research on employees’ KS behaviour remains underrepresented within the non-profit sector. This gap in knowledge aligns with the NPO’s view that its KS environment requires improvement. The present study examined changes in high schoolers’ perceived stress, general self-efficacy and cortisol levels after a brief interaction with a certified therapy dog. High school students completed self-report measures of perceived stress and general self-efficacy and provided salivary cortisol samples both before and after a 10-min interaction with a certified therapy dog. Following the interaction, students reported reductions in perceived stress scores, exhibited lower salivary cortisol concentrations and demonstrated increases in self-efficacy scores compared to before the interaction. Recently, combining the strength of large language models (LLMs) and Evolutionary Computation (EC) has shown promising results for addressing optimization problems. It typically involves either iterative next-step solution seeking or directly prompting LLMs to generate critical optimization codes. However, these methods often suffer from low computational efficiency, high sensitivity to prompt design, and a lack of domain-specific knowledge. We introduce LLaMoCo, the first instruction-tuning framework designed to adapt LLMs for solving optimization problems in a code-to-code manner. Graduate student persistence is a relatively unexplored area in the literature of higher education studies; specifically, at a multi-institutional scale at the master's level. This research study examines the factors which cause students to discontinue their master's degrees, and what conditions could possibly support them returning to their program at a large urban public university system. The current study was guided by Hoyt and Winn's (2004) distinction between non-returning students, and Bean & Metzner's (1985) theoretical model of student attrition. A sequential mixed-methods study was conducted to examine the institutional and environmental influences on students' decision-making processes.

Public and nonprofit organizations exhibit high rates of female employment often attributed to sector structures and social roles. To better understand how individual behaviors dynamically contribute to these distinctive ratios, we deconstruct public and nonprofit employment into gendered patterns of attraction and attachment. Using duration analysis and following a cohort from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 1997, this research finds that women demonstrate a higher attraction to their first public and nonprofit job compared to men, evidenced through a faster rate of entry into this employment. The aggregate gradations specified by the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) differ from those of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). Preliminary discussions suggest that adopting AASHTO standard gradation sizes could provide national alignment and simplify production for those operating in multiple states and supplying projects not subject to INDOT specifications. Radial meniscus tears are a common tear pattern that, if left untreated, can ultimately lead to accelerated degenerative changes and disability. There is well-established evidence that supports meniscal preservation in patients with radial meniscus tears. Various surgical techniques are used to repair radial tears, including inside-out, outside-in, and all-inside methods. Self-retrieving all-inside devices are a safe option when repairing radial tears. However, radial tears at the junction of the anterior horn and body present a unique surgical challenge, as surgeons may have difficulty maneuvering the jaws of the self-retrieving suture device around the anterior limb of the meniscal tear. [Introduction] A man in his early 30s presented with a longstanding birthmark on the lift thigh that was first noticed at age 12. As a teenager, the lesion was treated with a CO2 laser at an outside institution; however, the lesion continued to slowly enlarge over the past several years. The patient reported recurrent irritation and swelling from a construction safety harness with occasional bleeding and frequent bruising. Recently, the area became inflamed, prompting an ER visit, where the patient was evaluated for cellulitis, underwent a normal ultrasound and was placed on cephalexin 500 gm twice daily for 10 days.

Neurogenic bladder and lower urinary tract (LUT) dysfunctions encompass a wide variety of urinary disorders resulting from nervous system impairments. Objectives: Liver trauma management has evolved over recent decades, shifting from primarily operative to algorithmic approaches incorporating initial non-operative management alongside operative intervention for severe injuries. Inconsistent core outcome measures between studies hamper meaningful clinical research and evidence synthesis. This study aimed to develop a core outcome set (COS) for liver trauma research to standardize outcome reporting and improve study comparability.

Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a term encompassing a wide array of pulmonary conditions characterized by inflammation and fibrosis of the pulmonary parenchyma. Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is frequently encountered in patients with fibrotic ILDs and poses unique difficulties for both diagnosis and management. Patients with ILD-associated pulmonary hypertension (ILD-PH) are complex, often ailing and presenting with multiple comorbidities whose individual contributions to the underlying PH can be challenging to disentangle. Evidence supporting treatment with PH-specific medications in ILD-PH is limited. Groundwater discharge plays an important role in the hydrologic and ecologic functioning of rivers including sustaining streamflow and related habitat year-round. Simultaneously, groundwater supports the increasing demands of people as the global population continues to grow. Balancing the needs of users becomes increasingly important as climate change introduces greater uncertainty in water resources and fisheries, especially for economically important anadromous species that depend on freshwater resources. We investigated the seasonal and regional variability of groundwater contributions to six non-glacial mainstem salmon-bearing rivers in south-central Alaska. This thesis examines the educational value and constitutional limits of teaching about religion in U.S. public schools. It asks whether public schools may teach about religion academically without violating constitutional neutrality, where the boundary lies between education and indoctrination, and how religious literacy might be integrated in ways that benefit students while honoring First Amendment constraints. Using a mixed-methods design, the study gathered survey data from 104 adult participants drawn from diverse educational, religious, and community backgrounds across multiple states. This exploratory pilot study examines whether posting Instagram digital flyers affects Resident Assistant (RA) program attendance in the higher-education Housing and Residence Life (HRL) context. Instagram has emerged as a dominant channel of communication among Generation Z (1997-2012). Background/aims: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) exhibits substantial morphological and biological heterogeneity. Clinical and molecular relevance of the infiltrative subtype remains poorly defined in the context of cancer immunotherapy. We aimed to evaluate the prognostic impact and molecular features of infiltrative HCC in patients treated with first-line atezolizumab plus bevacizumab (Ate/Bev).

Methods: We included 307 patients with advanced HCC treated with Ate/Bev and classified them into four gross morphological types based on imaging. Multi-omics profiling was conducted on tumor samples. Type IV infiltrative signature was derived and externally validated using five independent HCC cohorts, including IMbrave150.

Time series with multiple periodically correlated (MPC) components present a complex challenge, with relatively limited prior research. Most existing models are designed for simpler periodically correlated (PC) components and often struggle with over-parameterization, optimization issues, and capturing complex PC patterns within a time series. Frequency separation techniques can help preserve the correlation structure of individual PC components, while Bayesian methods can integrate new and prior information to refine beliefs about these components. Sea level rise poses significant risks to coastal infrastructure and recreational activities, limiting public coastal access. In this study, we evaluate the current use and measure the recreational value of coastal access areas in Bristol County, Rhode Island, while assessing the vulnerability of those areas to rising sea levels. By combining measurements of non-market economic value derived from cellular device location data with modeled future sea level projections, we quantify the economic value at risk under different inundation scenarios. To evaluate the effectiveness of organized sports-based interventions on motor outcomes in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Method

Four databases were searched from inception to November 2025 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and non-randomized controlled trials (NRCTs) reporting motor outcomes of organized sports-based interventions in children with ASD. Risk of bias was evaluated using ROB-2 (Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool, Version Two) for RCTs and ROBINS-I (Risk Of Bias In Non-randomized Studies - of Interventions) for NRCTs.

Automatic sign language translation remains challenging because models must recover linguistic structure from complex visual motion while relying on limited annotated data. This thesis investigates whether compact skeletal key-points can serve as an effective alternative to RGB video for continuous sign language recognition and translation, motivated by the privacy, computational efficiency, and transferability of skeletal representations. Hybridization chain reaction RNA-fluorescent in situ hybridization (HCR RNA-FISH) is a powerful and increasingly used method for visualizing gene expression in cells and tissues. A probe set against polyadenylated RNA (poly(A)) is often used as a positive control for RNA integrity and staining quality. While optimizing this technique in the ovary of the brown anole lizard (Anolis sagrei), we found that the poly(A) probe produced a strikingly specific and intense signal in pyriform cells, a specialized lizard-specific nurse cell type. Background: Accurate and consistent image segmentation across longitudinal scans is essential in many clinical applications, including surveillance, treatment monitoring, and adaptive interventions. While personalized model adaptation using patient-specific prior scans has shown promise, current approaches typically rely on fixed training durations and lack mechanisms to determine optimal stopping points on a per-patient basis, particularly in the absence of validation labels.

Purpose: We propose an uncertainty-guided test-time optimization (TTO) framework that dynamically adjusts the personalization duration for each patient using a validation-free stopping criterion based on predictive uncertainty.
