Structural-Parametric Analysis And Synthesis Of Control Systems With Two Degrees Of Freedom, Azizbek Nodirbekovich Yusupbekov, Khurshid Salim Ugli Turayev

Chemical Technology, Control and Management

Automatic tuning of the parameters of PID - regulators is proposed by means of a modified experiment that takes into account the influence of elements and circuits in the form of additive uncertainty. The use of a multiply connected control scheme with two degrees of freedom for decoupling is proposed in order to facilitate the implementation of a mechanism for combating the phenomenon of integral saturation. Equations are derived for the transition from a circuit with one degree of freedom to a circuit with two degrees of freedom for the general and special cases of a two-dimensional system, which makes …

Real-Time Parkinsonian Tremor Signal Identifier Based On Internal Model Principle, Jian Dong 2021 The University of Western Ontario

Real-Time Parkinsonian Tremor Signal Identifier Based On Internal Model Principle, Jian Dong

Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository

Parkinsonian tremor is one of the clinical hallmarks of Parkinson's disease. Since the traditional medical treatments are not effective, many wearable devices are developed to help suppress the tremor. In order to suppress the tremor, a well-designed tremor estimator is needed. Previous tremor estimators treat a 3-D tremor signal as three independent 1-D signals. Moreover, they did not consider the real-life characteristics of tremor signals. For instance, the tremor does not always exist in the postural tremor signal, and the patient's voluntary motion can be included in the kinetic tremor signal. This paper presents a real-time adaptive parkinsonian tremor signal …

Impact And Application Of Real-Time Control On Stormwater Systems, Aaron A. Akin 2021 University of Tennessee, Knoxville

Impact And Application Of Real-Time Control On Stormwater Systems, Aaron A. Akin

Doctoral Dissertations

Stormwater control measures (SCMs) such as dry extended detention basins and wet ponds are common practices implemented by engineers and designers to mitigate the impact of stormwater runoff. These practices are designed based on historical rainfall data to attenuate runoff to pre-development conditions and, once they are installed, are unable to adapt to changing rainfall patterns or watershed restoration objectives. To solve these climate resiliency issues, several studies were conducted which investigated the impact of retrofitting such systems with a controllable outlet to increase or change detention times during rainfall events along with the novel instrumentation and methodologies necessary for …

Masters Theses

The research teams of Dr. Bill Hamel, Dr. Bradley Jared and Dr. Tony Schmitz were tasked by the Office of Naval Research to create a hybrid manufacturing process for a reduced scale model of a naval ship propeller. The base structure of the propeller is created using Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM), which is then scanned to compare created geometry to desired geometry. The propeller is then machined down to match the desired geometry. This process is iterated upon until the final product meets design tolerances. Due to the complex nature and numerous industrial machines used in the process, it …

Lyapunov Function-Based Stabilizing Control Scheme For Wireless Power Transfer Systems With Lcc Compensation Network, Abu Shahir Md Khalid Hasan 2021 Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College

Lyapunov Function-Based Stabilizing Control Scheme For Wireless Power Transfer Systems With Lcc Compensation Network, Abu Shahir Md Khalid Hasan

LSU Master's Theses

A stabilizing control scheme based on a Lyapunov function is proposed for wireless power transfer (or WPT) systems. A state-space model of the WPT system is developed and the Lyapunov function is formulated based on an energy equation of the system involving state variables. The internal resistance of a battery varies during charge and discharge. Therefore, if a WPT system is used to charge a battery, its output load will vary. Furthermore, the coupling coefficient between the transmitter (primary) and receiver (secondary) coils decreases when they are misaligned. Comparative case studies are conducted to verify the efficacy of the proposed …

Simultaneous Estimation And Modeling Of Nonlinear, Non-Gaussian State-Space Systems, Josiah Steckenrider, Tomonari Furukawa 2021 United States Military Academy

Simultaneous Estimation And Modeling Of Nonlinear, Non-Gaussian State-Space Systems, Josiah Steckenrider, Tomonari Furukawa

West Point Research Papers

This paper presents a framework for simultaneous estimation and modeling of nonlinear, non-Gaussian state-space systems. In the proposed approach, uncertainty in motion model parameters is incorporated to avoid overconfidence in state prediction and better account for modeling inaccuracies. The additional original contribution of a model correction stage improves nonlinear model parameter estimates in order to enhance the accuracy of state estimation. The presented nonlinear/non-Gaussian Simultaneous Estimation And Modeling (SEAM) approach was compared with contemporary estimation techniques using a Monte-Carlo simulation study. This study showed that the proposed method successfully reduces estimation error relative to existing approaches even when substantial model …

Direct Torque Control For Silicon Carbide Motor Drives, Mohammad Hazzaz Mahmud 2021 University of Arkansas, Fayetteville

Direct Torque Control For Silicon Carbide Motor Drives, Mohammad Hazzaz Mahmud

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Direct torque control (DTC) is an extensively used control method for motor drives due to its unique advantages, e.g., the fast dynamic response and the robustness against motor parameters variations, uncertainties, and external disturbances. Using higher switching frequency is generally required by DTC to reduce the torque ripples and decrease stator current total harmonic distortion (THD), which however can lower the drive efficiency. Through the use of the emerging silicon carbide (SiC) devices, which have lower switching losses compared to their silicon counterparts, it is feasible to achieve high efficiency and low torque ripple simultaneously for DTC drives.

To overcome …

Use Of The Igbt Module In The Active Region To Design A High Current Active Filter, Jorge F. Galarraga 2021 University of Arkansas, Fayetteville

Use Of The Igbt Module In The Active Region To Design A High Current Active Filter, Jorge F. Galarraga

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Particle accelerators require high-precision magnetic fields on the order or 100ppm or less. This implies that the precision of the associated electrical current in the electromagnet that generates these fields should be smaller than 100ppm. However, conventional switching power supplies cannot offer this precision due to the frequency limitation of the switches. This research considers the use of power electronics devices operating in a linear as an alternative solution to meet the requirements of particle accelerator electromagnets.

This thesis presents the study of an insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) driver using a new control method that linearizes the IGBT’s collector-emitter voltage …
