Nishihara Acceleration Model-Based Experiment Of Creep Characteristics Of Coal, Qu Lina, Li Bo

Coal Geology & Exploration

For conquering limitation that the traditional Nishihara model cannot describe the accelerated creep characteristics of coal body, according to the visco-elastic-plastic flow characteristics of coal in the accelerated creep stage, a nonlinear visco-elastic-plastic model was used to replace the ideal viscoelastic-plastic body in Nishihara model to establish the improved Nishihara acceleration model. And creep equation of the improved model under equal confining pressure triaxial condition was also deduced. Afterwards, the improved accelerated creep model was analyzed by the creep test data of coal specimens in the triaxial creep tests using the method of model identification. The results show that the …

However, there are few studies on the numerical calculation of single well heat transfer above 3000m depth. In this paper, based on the geothermal geological conditions in Xi'an, the numerical method was used to calculate the heat transfer of a medium-deep geothermal single well with different well structures (L-shaped directional wells and cluster directional wells) under the scenario of continuous operation of a heating season. The …

Research on the identification and prediction of coal seam cracks will be helpful to prevent and control disastrous accidents in coal mines, such as water inrush and gas outburst. It plays an important role in the safety evaluation of coal mining. Based on the theory of fracture equivalent model, the variation characteristics of fluid factor in coal seam crevices with different fillings and fracture weaknesses parameters(fracture density, aspect ratio, volume modulus, shear modulus, Lamé parameters) are analyzed by combining …

Coal Geology & Exploration

Magnetic field data of controlled source audio magnetotelluric method(CSAMT) is vulnerable to electromagnetic interference, and will lead to serious degradation of phase data quality. The affected phase data are corrected by referring to the high quality phase data of adjacent measuring points and combining the least squares fitting and interpolation method. Through forward simulation analysis, it is found that cubic polynomial interpolation is effective, not only can restore the variation characteristics of phase curve more accurately, but also involve the corrected phase data in the inversion calculation, so that the inversion results are more accurate and reliable. The method is …

Concealed Riprap Detection Technology In Pile Foundation Engineering, Li Junjie, Ge Longjin, Zhang Honggang, Li Jianmin, Zhu Honglei, Li Guanhao

Coal Geology & Exploration

It is often necessary to use pile foundation to deal with soft soil foundation for the newly built gate station near the seawall. If there is a concealed riprap layer in the construction area, it will affect the construction progress of pile foundation and increase the construction cost. Furthermore, the spatial distribution characteristics of riprap also play a decisive role in the selection of pile foundation construction technology. In view of the blindness problem in using the drilling method to investigate the irregular concealed riprap, we adopt the comprehensive investigation technology combining the ground penetrating radar with the high density …

Answering Global Warming’S Hottest Debate: A Better Way To Tax Carbon, Saleh Husseini 2019 University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Answering Global Warming’S Hottest Debate: A Better Way To Tax Carbon, Saleh Husseini

Op-Eds from ENSC230 Energy and the Environment: Economics and Policies

Some of you are sick of hearing about it, some of you don’t really care, and the rest of you are probably the reason the first group is sick of hearing about it, but regardless of which category you fall into, one thing is certain: climate change is real and it’s already happening. With that said, I’m moving forward under the assumption that all of us here believe in science and understand this phenomenon to be largely a result of post-industrial anthropogenic activity. In which case, reducing our emissions is the only way to prevent climate change from becoming a …

Synthesis And Connection Of Iridium Hydrogen Evolution Catalyst To Chlorella Vulgaris Photosystem I For Light-Driven Hydrogen Evolution, Anna Ramirez 2019 Bridgewater State University

Synthesis And Connection Of Iridium Hydrogen Evolution Catalyst To Chlorella Vulgaris Photosystem I For Light-Driven Hydrogen Evolution, Anna Ramirez

Honors Program Theses and Projects

Hydrogen gas has been shown to be a promising energy source as options other than fossil fuels are being looked at in the face of anthropogenic climate change. It is known that anthropogenic climate change is caused by the production of greenhouse gases being let into the atmosphere, specifically a common reason for this is the burning of fossil fuels for energy. The overall goal of this project is to design a biochemical hybrid system that will be used to make H 2 gas and does not require the use of fossil fuels. Burning hydrogen as fuel produces only water …

Wind Is The First Step To Winning, Martin Brannaman 2019 University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Wind Is The First Step To Winning, Martin Brannaman

Op-Eds from ENSC230 Energy and the Environment: Economics and Policies

Wind energy is the way of the future, and those who don’t have it will get left behind. Wind has already proven to be useful to countries in Europe, such as Denmark, Germany, and Spain. These countries are benefited from EU policy, to help alleviate some economic stress that might come from having diversified energy sources. This diversification of energy is good for countries economically and energy wise, allows them to not be too heavily reliant upon one source. This issue is clearly on display in America who is heavily reliant on oil and coal for example, the 1973 oil …

The Wind Energy Adaptation Of Nebraska, Samuel Bogert

Op-Eds from ENSC230 Energy and the Environment: Economics and Policies

The Wind Energy Adaptation of Nebraska

Today there are many things in the world that we rely on, heaters for warmth, cars for travel, and many other commodities that our way of living is dependent on. One of the most overlooked aspects of society is the need for power. Each and every American is dependent on power somehow, yet the vast majority of us do not think twice when flipping a switch. We all know that flipping a switch means the lights come on, when turning the ignition in our car we don’t think of the process behind the engine …

People And Planet First—Time Permitting, Jennifer Gilbert 2019 University of Nebraska-Lincoln

People And Planet First—Time Permitting, Jennifer Gilbert

Op-Eds from ENSC230 Energy and the Environment: Economics and Policies

Is it just me or is there something about election time that makes politicians overly ambitious? The candidates for the 2020 presidential election are fighting to convince American voters they are the best choice. One of the most common tactics for accomplishing this is providing voters with an unattainable amount of promises for making our problems magically disappear. While these ambitions are “attention-grabbing” and somewhat successful in acquiring votes, so many of them go unaccomplished or un-addressed once the candidate enters the white house. No candidate, from any party, is immune to this infectious tendency that accompanies running a campaign. …
