His childhood and experience with piano and Tin Pan Alley in New York City led him to writing Rhapsody in Blue, which resulted in the emergence of a new composition style. The purpose of this study was to identify the value of incorporating American folk-song into a formal voice recital program, specifically the collections and compositions of Jean Ritchie. This qualitative study identified criteria for choosing specific folk-songs to include in formal recital, assessed quality in a folk-song arrangement, discussed suitable instrumentation for accompaniment, and suggested appropriate performance practices for concert performance. New folk-song literature was discovered through accessing original unpublished sources in the American Folklife Center of the Library of Congress. This song cycle, while not written to be performed on its own, originally, is a rich technical resource for beginning singers and advanced singers alike. This research paper provides insight into the practices of collaborative piano in Korea. Interviews are included with five Korean pianists who have enjoyed successful careers in either Korea or the United States: Eun Young Lee, Young Kyung Hyun, Jin Hye Lee, Tony Cho and Hun Won Yim. Their responses provide practical advice for collaborative pianists as well as details about educational and career opportunities for collaborative pianists in Korea and the United States. Also included is biographical information about the selected pianists, information about Korean collaborative pianists’ associations, a list of Korean universities offering collaborative piano degrees, and a bibliography.

The purpose of this experimental study was to investigate mindfulness strategies and their influence on working memory. The potential role of music in facilitating mindfulness practice is explored. Various listening exercises were investigated along with their influence on working memory (i.e. attention control). Thirty-four individuals were randomly assigned to participate in one of four listening groups: 1) mindfulness with music, 2) mindfulness without music, 3) music only, and 4) silence. Thirty-four participants engaged in a computerized digit-span task before and after the listening exercise to assess pre- and post-test working memory performance. These are found through the analysis of every individual song released by the Beatles in the United Kingdom between 1962 and 1970. The band’s output can be divided into four different periods: Pre-Beatles, Early, Middle, and Late. Since the natives found enthusiasm towards the music of the Spaniards, missionaries utilized and integrated musical instruction as part of the catechization of the natives. The First, Second, and Third Lima Councils standardized the conversion process and enforced restrictions on sacred music. Like Lima, Arequipa also had a vibrant musical culture but the music remains lost. The music during the colonial era transitioned from three phases: early Spanish, Italian, and Nationalism. งานวิจัยเรื่องกรรมวิธีการสร้างผืนระนาดทุ้มของช่างฉะโอด บุญขันธ์ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษากรรมวิธีการสร้างผืนระนาดทุ้มและปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อคุณภาพผืนระนาดทุ้มของช่างฉะโอด บุญขันธ์ โดยใช้วิธีการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ ผลการวิจัยพบว่ากรรมวิธีการสร้างผืนระนาดทุ้มมีลักษณะเฉพาะที่สำคัญ คือ 1. การเลือกไม้ไผ่ตง ใช้ไม้ไผ่ตงที่มีเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลางอย่างน้อย 8 นิ้ว ไม่มีตำหนิและมีผิวไม้ไผ่ที่สวยงาม 2.การคัดไม้ไผ่ ต้องมีข้อทั้งสองข้าง 3. การวัดความกว้าง ความยาว และความหนาของลูกระนาดทุ้มต้องมีสัดส่วนที่พอดี 4.การหาตำแหน่งร้อยเชือกจะใช้นิ้วเคาะหาตำแหน่งที่ลูกระนาดทุ้มดังที่สุด 5.การเจาะรูร้อยเชือก จะต้องมีความกว้างของรูพอดี 6.การปาดท้องลูกระนาดทุ้ม ต้องไม่กว้างจนเกินไป 7.การติดตะกั่ว จะต้องใช้ปริมาณที่เหมาะสม กรรมวิธีดังกล่าวส่งผลให้ผืนระนาดทุ้มของช่างฉะโอด บุญขันธ์มีอัตลักษณ์ที่สำคัญคือ การปาดท้องลูกระนาดทุ้มมีลักษณะโค้งเหมือนพระจันทร์ครึ่งเสี้ยว การเจาะรูกลมใต้ลูกระนาดทุ้ม ขนาดของผืนระนาดทุ้มมีความยาวทั้งผืน 105 เซนติเมตร ส่วนปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อคุณภาพผืนระนาดทุ้ม เป็นผลจากประสบการณ์ของช่างฉะโอด บุญขันธ์ ที่ได้สั่งสมจากอาชีพช่างโดยเฉพาะช่างไม้ อีกทั้งความประณีตและความพิถีพิถันในทุกขั้นตอนของการสร้างผืนระนาดทุ้ม และการพัฒนาฝีมือโดยใช้วิธีทดลอง ทำซ้ำ และคิดค้นวิธีใหม่ ๆ อยู่เสมอ จนเป็นอัตลักษณ์ผืนระนาดทุ้มเฉพาะตน

การดำเนินวิจัยเรื่องการถ่ายทอดดนตรีไทยของศาสตราจารย์ ดร.อุทิศ นาคสวัสดิ์ ผ่านสื่อโทรทัศน์มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาประวัติชีวิตและการถ่ายทอดดนตรีไทยผ่านสื่อโทรทัศน์ ใช้การวิเคราะห์เนื้อหาจากเทปบันทึกรายการจำนวน 2 เทปที่ท่านเป็นผู้ดำเนินรายาการด้วยตนเองและใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ สัมภาษณ์ทายาท ลูกศิษย์ใกล้ชิดและผู้เคยชมรายการ 14 ท่าน ผลวิจัยพบว่าท่านเกิดวันที่ 29 มีนาคม พ.ศ. 2466 ณ บ้านของท่านที่จังหวัดสมุทรสงคราม เป็นบุตรคนที่ 2 ในพี่น้อง 9 คน ตลอดชีวิตของท่านต้องต่อสู้ฟันฝ่าอุปสรรคในทุก ๆ ด้านไม่ว่าจะเป็นด้านการเรียน ด้านการงาน ด้านความรัก ตลอดจนการเรียนดนตรี ท่านเริ่มเรียนดนตรีไทยครั้งแรกกับบิดา ต่อมาเรียนซอสามสายกับพระยาภูมีเสวิน (จิตร จิตตเสวี) จนสามารถสีซอสามสายออกอากาศสถานีวิทยุได้ ต่อมาช่วงปี พ.ศ. 2499 ท่านได้มอบตัวเป็นศิษย์ท่านครูหลวงประดิษฐไพเราะ (ศร ศิลปบรรเลง) ท่านได้ศึกษาทั้งทฤษฎีและปฏิบัติจนสามารถบรรเลงเพลงเดี่ยวขั้นสูงโดยเฉพาะซอสามสาย ซอด้วง ซออู้ และขลุ่ย นอกจากนี้ท่านยังมีความคิดสร้างสรรค์ประพันธ์บทเพลงไทยประเภทต่าง ๆ ได้อย่างรวดเร็วและไพเราะเช่น บทเพลงเดี่ยว เพลงเถา เพลงเนื้อเต็ม เป็นต้น อีกทั้งยังรับมอบโองการไหว้ครูสามารถทำพิธีไหว้ครูดนตรีและนาฏศิลป์ได้ ศาสตราจารย์ ดร.อุทิศ นาคสวัสดิ์ได้ริเริ่มรายการเกี่ยวกับดนตรีไทยผ่านสื่อโทรทัศน์ในปี พ.ศ. 2502 โดยใช้ชื่อรายการว่า “นาฏดุริยางค์วิวัฒน์” ทางสถานีโทรทัศน์ช่อง 7 จากนั้นเปลี่ยนชื่อรายการมาเป็น “ดร. อุทิศ แนะดนตรีไทย” ทางสถานีโทรทัศน์ช่อง 4 บางขุนพรหมมาตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2504 ซึ่งเป็นรายการดนตรีไทยที่ได้รับความนิยมจากผู้ชมเป็นจำนวนมากและได้รับการสนัหลังจากนั้นรายการได้ยุติลงเนื่องจากการจากไปของท่านในปี พ.ศ. 2525 จากการศึกษาพบว่าท่านใช้กลวิธี 5 วิธีคือ การดำเนินรายการด้วยสนุกสนานมีคารมคมคาย การพูดหยอกล้อกับนักดนตรี การใช้มุขตลกสอดแทรกไปกับการบรรยายพร้อมกับให้ความรู้ดนตรีไทยและโฆษณาสินค้า การใช้บทเพลงที่หลากหลายอารมณ์ทุกครั้งที่จัดรายการ และใช้ความรู้ ความสามารถ ไหวพริบปฏิภาณดำเนินรายการได้อย่างดีเยี่ยม ส่งผลให้มีผู้ชมติดตาม สามารถเผยแพร่ความองค์ความรู้ทางดนตรีไทยได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ

บทประพันธ์ซิมโฟนิกโพเอ็ม “อปัญญาประดิษฐ์” งานวิจัยนี้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อสร้างสรรค์ผลงานการประพันธ์เพลงที่นำประเด็นเกี่ยวกับวิทยาการคอมพิวเตอร์ปัญญาประดิษฐ์ ซึ่งเป็นประเด็นสำคัญและมีความเกี่ยวโยงกับความเป็นไปมนุษย์ทุกคนในอนาคตอย่างหลีกเลี่ยงไม่ได้เข้ามาเชื่อมโยงกับบทประพันธ์เพลงร่วมสมัย โดยนำเสนอในลักษณะของดนตรีพรรณนา ซึ่งบรรยายถึงจินตนาการและมุมมองของผู้ประพันธ์ที่มีต่อปัญญาประดิษฐ์ แบ่งออกเป็นสามกระบวน แต่ละกระบวนพรรณนาถึงประเด็นสำคัญของปัญญาประดิษฐ์ได้แก่ ขั้นตอนวิธีการแก้ปัญหาทางคอมพิวเตอร์ การแก้ปัญหาแบบศึกษาสำนึกของมนุษย์ และการแก้ไขจุดบกพร่องทางโปรแกรม บทประพันธ์นี้มีการนำเครื่องดนตรีสังเคราะห์เสียงซินธิไซเซอร์มาบรรเลงผสมกับ วงออร์เคสตราเพื่อให้เกิดสีสันที่แปลกใหม่และเพื่อสร้างบรรยากาศของกระบวนการปัญญาประดิษฐ์ตามจินตนาการของผู้ประพันธ์ โดยผู้ประพันธ์ได้รับอิทธิพลและแรงบันดาลใจมาจากกลุ่มดนตรีมินิมัล จึงนำการเวียนซ้ำของลักษณะจังหวะมาเป็นจุดสำคัญของบทประพันธ์ ใช้การขัดกันของจังหวะแบบโพลีริธึมรวมถึงผสมผสานแนวคิดและเทคนิคของดนตรีในศตวรรษที่ 20 เพื่อทำให้บทเพลงเกิดความร่วมสมัยมากขึ้น โดยบทเพลงมีความยาวประมาณ 14 นาที

Due to the profession’s competitive nature, time-consuming demands, and frequent evaluations, many musicians experience debilitating music performance anxiety, hypercritical thoughts, and/or avoidance of specific performance situations. To cope with these experiences, musicians can cultivate mindfulness. Mindfulness is purposefully and non-judgmentally paying attention to the present moment, developing awareness of emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations, and acknowledging the reality of one’s experience. “Mindfulness for Musicians: Bringing sport psychology and mindfulness-based therapies to the practice room and the concert stage” discusses how cultivating mindfulness helps musicians cope with intense emotions, such as panic or fear, and explores how cultivating mindfulness helps musicians …
