Challenges And Opportunities In Providing Academic Library Services To Incarcerated Higher Education Students: A Case Study From A Tennessee State Prison, Ryan Yoakum, Caroline Fleming
The Southeastern Librarian
This case study describes the Belmont University Library’s partnership with a Tennessee men’s prison to provide access to higher education. The program has led to challenges relating to communication, circu-lation, cataloging, and collection development. These library services are necessary to provide students with access to information not only for their academic endeavors, but also for their own well-being and growth. This paper explores possible solutions to the information deficit of incarcerated students and how the library can support the needs of an underserved population.

Looking forward to seeing if other institutions with institutional repositories would have interest in this subject sharing ideas with one another and others that may not have an institutional repository yet. Some questions for discussion for the roundtable attendees, hopefully we get one or two other products other than Digital Commons users:
- What kind of product does your institutional repository use? (eg, Digital Commons, Omeka, DSpace) What kind of collections do you offer? (eg. Journals, exhibits, dissertations/thesis, journal articles, archival materials)

Lister Sinclair, the playwright says "Art pulls a community together... Art makes you feel differently. That's what artists are doing all the time, shifting and changing the way you see life." Librarians should be added to his statement. The past few semesters, our librarians at Kennesaw State University have not just encouraged our students to access our databases but have also created a medium for them to showcase their art via digital commons and publish it globally. My talk will focus on our journey from ideation to realization
