The 2025 Fiscal Year National Defense Authorization Act contains multiple provisions relating to artificial intelligence (AI). These congressionally mandated provisions direct various sections of the Department of Defense (DOD) and individual U.S. armed service branches to execute congressional intent for AI policymaking. Examples of such intent include identifying and planning DOD's AI workforce, demonstrating AI biotechnology applications for national security, improving the human usability of AI systems, and establishing an AI security center. This study aims to investigate the instructional strategies used in Virtual Reference Services (VRS) to support users' learning in Indonesian universities. The focus of the study is to explore the librarians' understanding of their roles as instructors in virtual reference service and the practices of instructional strategies used in VRS. Critical and strategic minerals have become increasingly important in U.S. government civilian and military policymaking in recent years. This is demonstrated by the heavy use of such minerals in many critical civilian and military infrastructures. This work will discuss how this subject has been addressed in laws, presidential documents, and works by government agencies along with congressional oversight committees and support agencies. In honor of this week, we’re excited to highlight one of the newest collections in the Dissertations, Theses & Projects section of Digital Commons@TMC: scholarly work from UTHealth’s Cizik School of Nursing Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program. Since launching on September 1st, over 60 student abstracts, many accompanied by project posters, have been submitted. These works have already received more than 1,000 downloads a testament to their impact and reach.

In the early 20th century, polio was one of the most feared diseases in the world. It struck quickly, and for some, left lasting paralysis—especially in the muscles that control breathing. That’s where the iron lung came in.

This large, capsule-like machine enclosed a patient’s body up to the neck in an airtight chamber. Through shifts in air pressure, it caused the chest to rise and fall, simulating natural breathing.
