Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana dinamika trust yang terjadi pada komunikasi tidak tatap muka, melalui media sosial dalam konteks pemasaran online. Dinamika trust tersebut diidentifikasi melalui tipe trust pada model yang dicetuskan oleh Lewicki dan Bunker. Analisis dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teori mengenai trust yang terkait dengan perilaku konsumen. Paradigma pada penelitian ini adalah post-positivisme melalui pendekatan kualitatif dengan strategi studi kasus. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara mendalam kepada informan dan observasi. Studi ini berupaya untuk menganalisis komunikasi non verbal Surya Paloh sebagai salah satu politisi yang aktif tampil di media menjelang pemilu presiden 2014. Kami mengamati bahwa komunikasi non verbal yang ditampilkan oleh politisi selalu memiliki tujuan secara politis. Fokus dalam penelitian ini yaitu bentuk-bentuk komunikasi non verbal yang dilakukan oleh Surya Paloh melalui intonasi suara, kecepatan berbicara, kontak mata, ekspresi wajah, postur tubuh hingga gerakan tangan sebagai ekspresi dari komunikasi seorang politisi. Penelitian ini mengkaji pemanfaatan panoptisme agama dalam proses pemasaran langsung produk “Kerupuk Purnama” yang dilakukan oleh penyandang tunanetra. Fenomena ini dijelaskan dengan konsep panoptisme Michael Foucault, melalui strategi pemilihan waktu dan lokasi pemasaran langsung, serta teknik persuasi interpersonal yang dilakukan oleh penjual. Pengumpulan data dilaksanakan dengan metode wawancara mendalam dan observasi terhadap informan utama yang dipilih secara purposif, yaitu empat tunanetra penjual “Kerupuk Purnama”, serta wawancara terhadap informan pendukung, yaitu dua orang masyarakat umum yang memiliki pengalaman membeli produk terkait. Kemajuan teknologi menyebabkan perubahan pola masyarakat dalam mengonsumsi berita. Kini masyarakat lebih senang membaca berita lewat kanal pribadi di media sosial, salah satunya adalah grup WhatsApp. Masalah terjadi ketika mereka berdiskusi dalam suatu grup yang bersifat homogen. Tidak adanya argumen pembanding dapat menyebabkan munculnya suatu keyakinan palsu akan suatu hal. This feminist critique looks into the way that gender, specifically females, are portrayed in some of Hollywood's top films involving Artificial Intelligence: Blade Runner, Her, and Ex Machina. These movies work as a perpetuation of patriarchal ideologies while maintaining the objectification and hypersexuality of women as normalized behaviors. Additionally, while some forms of empowerment are conveyed, the features illustrate women merely on a spectrum of extreme behavior; due to Heuristics and Cultivation Theory, these misrepresentations can be associated with women outside the surrealist realm of the depicted artificially intelligent worlds.

This article argues that the use of toxic visual and narrative tropes in contemporary dramatic television can expand our capacity to envision and critique the deadly effects of industrial pollution. The HBO series True Detective is an exemplary case study in how evocative toxic images can be integrated into familiar television narratives to animate society’s deadly relationship with toxic chemicals. The petrochemical mise-en-scène of True Detective enlivens the toxic image with inferential power, or visual enthymemes, that invite audiences to draw connections between traumas that unfold through narrative action and omnipresence of toxic iconography. In-depth interviews with both organizational staff and refugee-clients in two American refugee resettlement organizations explore how empowerment is communicated to and understood by refugees being “empowered.” This study found that while organizational staff professed empowerment focused on self-sufficiency as self-determination, in practice their communication to clients defined self-sufficiency a priori in economic terms. Refugee-clients instead constructed empowerment(s) in economic, educational, personal, and family terms. These findings highlight the need for changes in US resettlement policy and for theoretical and practical understandings of refugee empowerment to recognize polysemic and conflicting empowerments in different life arenas and from different positionalities.

In this study, a narrative analysis of a children’s picture book was conducted to uncover how young audiences are taught about diversity and inclusion through books. The setting, characters, narrator, and target audiences of the 2014 book I am Jazz were evaluated to decipher how readers are educated about transgenderism and diversity in greater context. Specific rhetorical qualities in the visual and written elements emphasize the importance of diversity, uniqueness, individuality, and acceptance. The Ahmadiyya religious group has been present in Indonesia since the 1920s. The reli- gious group is divided into two different subgroups, namely Gerakan Ahmadiyah Indone- sia (GAI) and Jemaat Ahmadiyah Indonesia (JAI). In the reform era, the JAI community has to face a less favorable situation. The Heresy Fatwa issued by Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) in 1980 had put this group into an even more difficult position.
