Report On Open Educational Resource And Open Access Publication Practices Of Winona State University Educators, Kayla Olson

This report presents the findings from a survey disseminated to all employees over Winter 2026 that focused on Winona State University educators' knowledge of and practices around copyright/intellectual property, open educational resources (OERs), and open access (OA) publishing. It establishes a baseline understanding of our educators’ advanced information and professional development needs, and can be replicated in the future if needed. In all, responses suggest that there may be continued interest in professional development and support around OERs, some interest in professional development around OA publishing, and potential benefits to further faculty and staff development around copyright/intellectual property. Executive summary

The research enterprise in the United States, established after the second world war, is experiencing massive disruption. US colleges and universities are grappling with federal and state disinvestment and intervention at a time when AI and other technologies are reshaping how research is conducted and its findings are communicated. As a result, researchers at US higher education institutions are operating in an unstable environment. Against this backdrop, the findings from our survey of 4,003 researchers, fielded in late 2025, demonstrate that they remain committed to carrying out essential work and that they are doing so in innovative ways—through …

Electronic information resources have become a significant portion of library resources available to academic staff for teaching and research purposes. However, studies suggest that their use has not been fully optimized by academic staff at polytechnics located within South-West, Nigeria. This could be attributed to the low level of self-effectiveness of technology among the academic staffs. In light of this, this study aimed to examine the relationship between computer self-efficacy and the usage of electronic information resources among polytechnics academic staff in South-West, Nigeria.

Ten years after the publication of a manifesto attempting to describe what digital scholarship could do for and within libraries, some of the original authors reflect on the progress of the call-to-action. This article describes areas in which the integration of digital scholarship activities as core parts of librarianship has and has not become commonplace and traces larger-scale developments in the academy and global knowledge landscape that have contributed to the accuracy of the predictions made in 2017.

Rationale

The misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming prevalent in academia, particularly among undergraduates. This situation could undermine the main objective of education at the university level, which is aimed at building future professionals for general development. This study examined the determinants of the abuse of artificial intelligence (AI) for academic purposes among Nigerian university undergraduates, with particular focus on federal universities in Southwestern Nigeria.

[Purpose/significance] To overcome the limitations of traditional, label-dependent evaluation indicators in identifying journal acceptance preferences, this article aims to construct a novel label-free quantitative detection paradigm to more comprehensively and objectively reveal potential publishing stickiness between authors and journals. [Method/process] By introducing disproportionality measurement methods from the field of pharmacovigilance, we proposed the Author-Journal Balance Ratio index, applied it to 86 law journals to measure the potential publishing stickiness between authors and journals, and analyzed the 5 060 identified potential publishing stickiness signals. This study investigates the increasingly common phenomenon of academic librarianship as a second career. Survey data from more than 500 academic librarians found that nearly 70 percent of respondents did not begin their professional lives in the library field. These findings challenge the long-held perception of librarianship as an early or primary career choice and highlight significant trends with implications for library education, recruitment, leadership development, and burnout prevention. The study explores patterns in first careers and examines demographic trends, age distributions, and correlations between career background and current leadership roles. Hate and hostility toward the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer+ (LGBTQ+) community and people of color, inflamed in recent years by political extremism and radical conservatism, have permeated many areas of society. One context where hostilities have emerged in the past decade is public debate surrounding book challenges, which prompted a yearlong investigation into the polarizing phenomenon of book censorship in the United States. Library Anxiety: A Mixed-Methods Comparison Between Honors And University Learning First-Year College Students, Anthony L. Paganelli, Larry Sean Kinder

The Southeastern Librarian

This study examines the results from a mixed-methods comparison study that explored library anxiety between first-year Honors students and first-year students enrolled in a University Learning course. The study explores the levels of library anxiety, overconfidence, barriers, and behavioral factors. Findings indicate that Honors students had higher levels of library anxiety and associated perfectionism and self-esteem more closely with library use. University Learning students worked longer and more independently to use resources before seeking help. Knowing these results, teaching librarians could create tailored instruction sessions to address and alleviate library anxiety and its effects.
