The Summer Seminar of the Arts Papers, housed at the Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) Library, document a lively and eclectic arts festival that took place in Montgomery, Alabama, from 1969 to 1983. The collection brings together correspondence, manuscripts, broadsides, and ephemera, including unexpected items such as a poem typed on aluminum foil, from some of the most celebrated poets of the 20th century, including U.S. Poets Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winners. This article explores how archivists managed the unique challenges of processing a small literary collection filled with delicate and experimental materials. A shared interest in a month-long novel writing event inspired two reference and instruction librarians to develop a serialized program built around writing and research. Through leveraging resources and partnerships, the librarians planned to foster creativity and confidence in research writing skills within an ethos of community. [Purpose/significance] Topic evolution analysis can help researchers quickly grasp the research hotspots and development trends of a discipline. However, existing topic models often overlook the semantic functions and structures of texts during topic extraction, making it difficult to reveal the deeper patterns of disciplinary development. This paper proposes an integrated framework for topic evolution analysis that combines the BERTopic model with semantic functions, aiming to enrich and improve the methodological system of topic evolution research.

[Purpose/significance] This study investigates differences in digital medical-health information privacy preferences by measuring privacy sensitivity across diverse user groups in multiple contextual scenarios, analyzing variations both within user groups (across contexts) and between user groups (within the same context), thereby providing actionable insights for developing context-aware health information protection frameworks in digital healthcare services.

[Method/process] A model of users' sensitivity to digital medical health information was constructed based on contextual integrity theory, and an experimental study was conducted using a discrete choice experiment method. This study investigates whether German-language fan fictions featuring lesbian and gay characters within the anime and manga domain can be regarded as genuinely queer. It situates these fan works within the specific traditions and practices of German fandom. Employing qualitative content analysis, the research examines two prominent fandoms, Naruto and Sailor Moon, focusing on the presence of heteronormative narrative patterns in fan fiction with queer protagonists. Can Correction Messages Reduce The Spread Of Fake News On Social Media? The Impact Of Information Updates On The Effectiveness Of Corrections, Kelvin K. King, Diego Escobari

Economics and Finance Faculty Publications

Although government agencies and fact-checking organizations issue correction messages to mitigate misinformation dissemination on social media, their efforts have been largely ineffective. Drawing on Information Manipulation Theory (IMT) and information extracted from over 84 million tweets, we examine the impact of correction messages and explore how different information updates affect their effectiveness. Our empirical approach differentiates between subpopulations of correction messages. The results support the existence of two distinct types: correction messages that significantly mitigate the spread of fake news—a 1 percent increase in “effective” messages decreases the spread of fake news by 0.89 percent; and those that amplify the …

This article presents an investigation of the state of peer review for Open Educational Resource (OER) Textbooks, which denotes the variability of peer review practices across OER platforms. The environ-mental scan highlights the critical finding that the perception of quality between OER textbooks and commercially published or traditional textbooks is often linked to the presence or absence of a formal, pre-publication peer review process. Findings emphasized a strong preference on behalf of adopters and potential authors of OER textbooks to have a standardized process or guidance for pursuing pre-publication peer review.
