It includes information on the U.S. constitutional foundations of national security policy, a recent annual defense spending bill, documents from the White House/National Security Council, Department of Defense, various military branches including professional military educational institutions, assorted U.S. intelligence agencies, congressional legislation, congressional committee reports on legislation, congressional committee hearings, and reports from congressional support agencies such as the Congressional Budget Office. Article 1 of the US Constitution assigns the US Congress numerous responsibilities. These include creating new laws, revising existing laws, funding government programs, and conducting oversight of these programs' performance. Oversight of US Government agency space policy programs is executed by various congressional space policy committees including the House and Senate Science Committees, Armed Services, and Appropriations Committees. Purdue University Libraries partner with other units on campus to provide Instruction Matters: Purdue Academic Course Transformation (IMPACT), an initiative to redesign undergraduate courses to enhance student learning. Librarians involved with IMPACT collaborate with instructors to redesign courses while also seeking opportunities to integrate information literacy (IL) into course curricula in ways that support disciplinary learning. This poster details the design process that was used to develop the Association of College and Research Libraries “Building Your Research Data Management Toolkit: Integrating RDM into Your Liaison Work” road show. Starting with the development of learning objectives, and highlighting the multiple assessments that are offered prior to the road show experience, during the road show itself, and follows up the road show at the one month and six month post- show mark. The poster then shows the links between the learning objectives, assessments, and learning activities developed to assist learners to meet the learning objectives.

These slides were used in an interactive session at the Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education (POD) conference held in Louisville, KY, November 9-13, 2016. The session focused on instructors applying informed learning design to craft better learning experiences and prepare students for success by providing more guidance about student engagement with information. Drawing from informed learning pedagogic theory, informed learning design provides a framework for developing learning activities that foster learning through intentional engagement with information.
