Over the past decade, the number of dairy cows and the number of producers in the Western Australian dairy industry have steadily declined. The industry still relies heavily on market milk quotas for its profits, but recent export contracts have boosted profits from manufacturing milk production.

Market milk quotas remain unevenly distributed across the dairy regions and amongst quotaholders, although the regional distribution of quotas is changing.

Three techniques were employed to purify genomic DNA from deomstic rice (Oryza sativa L). Following extraction, the DNA was electrophoresed through agarose to determine its integrity. We determined that spooling yielded better quality, through lower quantity DNA than either of the other two techniques.

There has been interest in plants ranging from quite small on farm stills to very large, fuel-feed complexes costing many millions of dollars. The primary objective of this research was to assess the equity and efficiency of in-kind income transfers. The analytical framework employed incorporated key concepts of the utility interdependence paradigm from economic welfare theory. This paradigm views income transfers as social goods and suggests that social as well as private benefits may be derived from the redistribution of income. This study attempted to assess some of the empirical implications of the utility interdependence argument through the investigation of the low-income housing and Food Stamp programs in Multnomah County, Oregon for FY 1973.

This paper, which was presented at the 64th annual meeting of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers November 29, 1971, examines the magnitude of loss of basic food groins due to inadequate, non-existent, or inefficient storage and distribution systems. The apparent shortage of nutritional commodities in a hungry world is called needless; and the significance of organized marketing in helping to reduce losses is emphasized.
