Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) threatens millions of people around the world and has been declared a global risk by the World Economic Forum. One of the important AMR mechanisms in Enterobacteriaceae is the production of extended-spectrum β-lactamases. The most common ESBL, CTX-M β-lactamases, is spread to the world by CTX-M-15 and CTX-M-14. Sulbactam, clavu-lanic acid, and tazobactam are first-generation β-lactamase inhibitors and avibactam is a new non-β-lactam β-lactamase inhibitor. We studied that avibactam, sulbactam, clavulanic acid, tazobactam, and quercetin natural flavonoids were docked to target protein CTX-M-15. Subsequently, the complexes were simulated using the molecular dynamics simulations method during 100 ns …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Alpha-1 antitrypsin (A1AT) is one of the acute phase proteins which are synthesized in the liver. A1AT inhibits the activity of many proteases, but its main task is to protect the lungs from the attack of neutrophil elastase. In an autosomal hereditary disease known as alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, the A1AT level in blood serum decreases, increasing the risk of developing emphysema, liver apoptosis, and liver cancer. Thus, the detection of A1AT concentration in blood serum is very important. In this study, an impedimetric biosensor was developed, forming an SAM (self-assembled monolayer) with 4-mercaptophenylacetic acid (4MPA) on the surface of the …

Accelerated Fe$^{Iii}$/Fe$^{Ii}$ Redox Cycle Of Fenton Reaction System Using Pd/Nh$_{2}$-Mil-101(Cr)And Hydrogen, Zhong-Xing Liu, Xin Liu, Yong Li, Shi-Qian Gao
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
In this paper, a novel improvement in the catalytic Fenton reaction system named MHACF-NH$_{2}$-MIL-101(Cr) was constructed based on H$_{2}$ and Pd/NH$_{2}$-MIL-101(Cr). The improved system would result in an accelerated reduction in Fe$^{III}$, and provide a continuous and fast degradation efficiency of the 10 mg L$^{-1}$ 4-chlorophenol which was the model contaminant by using only trace level Fe$^{II}$. The activity of Pd/NH$_{2}$-MIL-101(Cr) decreased from 100% to about 35% gradually during the six consecutive reaction cycles of 18 h. That could be attributed to the irreversible structural damage of NH$_{2}$-MIL-101(Cr). Key words:

Development Of A Spiramycin Sensor Based On Adsorptive Stripping Linear Sweepvoltammetry And Its Application For The Determination Of Spiramycin In Chicken Eggsamples, Mustafa Ci̇ttan
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
Herein, an adsorptive stripping linear sweep voltammetric technique was described to determine spiramycin, a macrolide antibiotic, using a carboxylic multiwalled glassy carbon electrode modified with carbon nanotubes. The main principle of the analytical methodology proposed was based on the preconcentration of spiramycin by open-circuit accumulation of the macrolide onto the modified electrode surface. As a result of the adsorption affinity of spiramycin to the modified surface, the sensitivity of the glassy carbon electrode was significantly increased for the determination of spiramycin. The electrochemical behavior of spiramycin was evaluated by cyclic voltammetry and the irreversible anodic peak observed was measured as …

The Effect Of H$_{2}$O On The Sulfation Of Havelock Limestone Under Oxy-Fuel Conditions In Athermogravimetric Analyser, Murat Varol, Edward John Anthony, Arturo Macchi
Turkish Journal of Chemistry
A gas mixture representing oxy-fuel combustion conditions was employed in a thermogravimetric analyser to determine the effect of water vapor and SO$_{2}$ concentration on limestone sulfation kinetics over the temperature range of 800 to 920 °C. Here, experiments used small samples of particles (4 mg), with small particle sizes (d$_{p}$ < 38 μm) and large gas flow rates (120 mL/min@ NTP) in order to minimize mass transfer interferences. The gas mixture contained 5000 ppm$_{v}$ SO$_{2}$, 2% O$_{2}$, and the H$_{2}$O content was changed from 0% to 25% with the balance CO$_{2}$. When water vapor was added to the gas mixture at lower temperatures (800-870 °C), the limestone SO$_{2}$ capture efficiency increased. However, as the temperature became higher, the enhancement in total conversion values decreased. As expected, Havelock limestone at higher temperatures (890 °C, 920 °C, and 950 °C) experienced indirect sulfation and reacted at a faster rate than for lower temperatures (800-870 °C) for direct sulfation over the first five minutes of reaction time. However, the total conversion of Havelock limestone for direct sulfation was generally greater than for indirect sulfation.

A series of NH-substituted-1,4-quinones, possessing one, two, three or not chlorine, were synthesized by the reaction between different quinones (p-chloranil (1), p-toluquinone (2), or 2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone (3)) and (-)-cis-myrtanylamine (5) via nucleophilic reactions. Moreover, 2-bromo-1,4-naphthoquinone (4) was reacted with 2-(methylthio)ethylamine (11) to produce aminosubstituted naphthoquinones (12 and 13), bearing with bromine and not bromine. In addition, 2-bromo-1,4-naphthoquinone (4) was reacted with 4?-aminodibenzo-18-crown-6 (14) and 4'-aminobenzo-18-crown-6 (16) to yield crown-containing 1,4-naphthoquinones (15 and 17), respectively. New compounds were characterized, providing 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FTIR, MS-ESI, UV/Vis and elemental analysis.

In this study, rhenium/rhenium oxide nanoparticles (Re / ReO$_{3}$ NPs) have been produced for the first time in ultrapure water by using Femtosecond Pulsed Laser Ablation in Liquid (fsPLAL) method. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) measurements and results obtained for NPs show the existence of well-crystallized peaks and preferred phases. Re NPs have hexagonal structure while ReO$_{3}$ NPs have the perovskite-like cubic crystal structures. The Re / ReO$_{3}$ ratio is also determined to be 53 / 47 with ~ 20 nm crystallite size, while pure ReO$_{3}$ crystallite sizes were measured to be ~ 25 nm. The TEM results have shown that the …

2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) is an auxinic herbicide used to control broadleaf weeds. It is also a threatening factor for not only aquatic life but also human health due to its genotoxicity and endocrine disruptive property. Herein, the interaction between 2,4-D and double stranded DNA was investigated by using single-use pencil graphite electrodes (PGE) in combination with electrochemical techniques. The detection mechanism was based on the monitoring of the changes at the guanine oxidation signal obtained before/after surface-confined interaction of 2,4-D and DNA at the surface of PGE. The electrochemical characterization of the interaction was studied by using microscopic and electrochemical …

Cancer is a disease characterized by the continuous growth of cells without adherence to the rules that healthy normal cells obey. Carbonic anhydrase I and II (CA I and CA II) inhibitors are used for the treatment of some diseases. The available drugs in the market have limitations or side effects, which bring about the need to develop new drug candidate compound(s) to overcome the problems at issue. In this study, new pyrazole-sulphonamide hybrid compounds 4-[5-(1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl)-3-aryl-4,5-dihydro-1Hpyrazol- 1-yl]benzenesulphonamides (4a - 4j) were designed to discover new drug candidate compounds. The compounds 4a - 4j were synthesized and their chemical structures were …

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a multifactorial and polygenic disease. It is the most prevalent reason for dementia in the aging population. A dataset of twenty-six 1,2,3-triazole-based derivatives previously synthetized and evaluated for acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity were subjected to the three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR) study. Good predictability was achieved for comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) (Q2 = 0.604, R2 = 0.863, rext2 = 0.701) and comparative molecular similarity indices analysis (CoMSIA) (Q2 = 0.606, R2 = 0.854, rext2 = 0.647). The molecular features characteristics provided by the 3D-QSAR contour plots were quite useful for designing and improving the activity of …

In this study, synthesis of two new heteronuclear tetracyanonickelate(II) clathrates based on 4-aminopyridine (4AP) and guest water (H2O) molecule and investigation of their structural properties were reported. These clathrates were characterized by using vibration spectroscopy, elemental, thermal analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD) techniques. Examining the elemental and spectral data of these clathrates, it was observed that the formulas [Zn(II)(4AP)2Ni(μ-CN)2 (CN)2]·6H2O and [Cu(II)(4AP)4Ni(μ- CN)2 (CN)2]·H2O were defined their structures. General information about the structural properties of these clathrates in single crystal form has been obtained by considering the changes in the characteristic peaks of the cyanide group and the …
