Purpose: The purpose of this study is to determine the number of VCU pediatric dental patients screened for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) relative to the number of referrals made for a pediatric sleep study.

Methods: This was a retrospective chart review of children between the ages of 1-18 years seen at the VCU Pediatric Dental Clinic between 2016-2020. Patients with a completed sleep apnea screening questionnaire in the health history form or sleep apnea form/referral were identified. Purpose: The purpose of this pilot study was to determine perceptions of Virginia (VA) dentists toward mid-level dental providers, specifically dental therapists (DT), and determine whether membership in the American Dental Association (ADA) membership affected attitudes.

Methods: A convenience sample of 1208 dentists in the state of VA were invited to participate in an electronic survey. The instrument consisted of 11 Likert type scale questions assessing attitudes toward DTs. Additional items included the appropriate level of education and supervision of a DT, and five demographic questions. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. S. mutans biofilms were formed on a resin composite (FZ) and an alkasite (CN) materials and their pH determined after 24 h. Purpose: Workplace burnout in academia is a problem that affects career satisfaction and longevity. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of burnout among entry-level dental hygiene program directors.

Methods: The Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI) survey was used to determine prevalence of burnout in 325 dental hygiene program directors from across the United States. The survey was disseminated electronically. The CBI contains 19 questions that measure overall, personal, work-related, and client/student-related burnout on a five-point Likert type scale. การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนาแบบสอบถามการบริโภคอาหารสำหรับประเมินประสิทธิภาพการบดเคี้ยวทางอัตวิสัยและจำแนกผู้ป่วยที่มีสภาวะช่องปากที่แตกต่างกัน รวมทั้งทดสอบความตรงและความเที่ยงของแบบสอบถามการบริโภคอาหารที่พัฒนาขึ้น โดยแบ่งการศึกษาทางคลินิกแบบภาคตัดขวางเป็น 2 ระยะ ได้แก่ (1) การพัฒนาแบบสอบถามการบริโภคอาหาร 20 ชนิด ซึ่งประกอบด้วยอาหารที่มีความถี่ในการบริโภคสูงสุด 14 ชนิดจาก 4 กลุ่มอาหาร และอาหารที่ผู้ที่ใส่ฟันเทียมทั้งปากเคี้ยวได้ยากหรือเคี้ยวไม่ได้เลยอีก 6 ชนิด และ (2) การนำแบบสอบถามการบริโภคอาหารไปใช้ประเมินประสิทธิภาพการบดเคี้ยวทางอัตวิสัย กลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ ผู้ป่วยที่ใส่ฟันเทียมทั้งปาก ฟันเทียมบางส่วนถอดได้ หรือฟันเทียมติดแน่นจำนวน 110 คน ประเมินความยากในการบดเคี้ยวอาหาร 20 ชนิดในแบบสอบถามการบริโภคอาหารด้วยมาตรวัดลิเคิร์ท 3 ระดับ เพื่อนำมาคำนวณคะแนนการบดเคี้ยว ประสิทธิภาพการบดเคี้ยวทางวัตถุวิสัยประเมินจากขนาดอนุภาคถั่วลิสงที่ผ่านการบดเคี้ยวโดยใช้วิธีการกรองผ่านตะแกรง 12 ชั้น ขนาดอนุภาคถั่วลิสงที่มีขนาดเล็กบ่งบอกถึงประสิทธิภาพการบดเคี้ยวทางวัตถุวิสัยที่ดี ทดสอบความตรงเชิงสอดคล้องของแบบสอบถามโดยเปรียบเทียบความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างคะแนนการบดเคี้ยวและขนาดอนุภาคถั่วลิสง ทดสอบความตรงเชิงจำแนกของแบบสอบถามโดยเปรียบเทียบค่าเฉลี่ยคะแนนการบดเคี้ยวระหว่างกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่มีสภาวะช่องปากแตกต่างกัน ทดสอบความเที่ยงภายในและความเที่ยงจากการทดสอบซ้ำของแบบสอบถามด้วยสัมประสิทธิ์แอลฟาของครอนบาคและสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์ภายในชั้น จากผลการศึกษาสามารถจัดกลุ่มอาหาร 20 ชนิด เป็น 5 ระดับตามความยากในการบดเคี้ยว พบว่าคะแนนการบดเคี้ยวมีความสัมพันธ์ในทิศทางลบกับขนาดอนุภาคถั่วลิสงอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (r = -0.659, p < 0.05) โดยค่าเฉลี่ยคะแนนการบดเคี้ยวและขนาดอนุภาคถั่วลิสงมีความแตกต่างกันระหว่างกลุ่มที่มีจำนวนฟันธรรมชาติที่เหลืออยู่ จำนวนคู่สบฟันหลัง ชนิดของฟันเทียม และคุณภาพของฟันเทียมที่แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ แบบสอบถามการบริโภคอาหารมีค่าสัมประสิทธิ์แอลฟาของครอนบาคเท่ากับ 0.892 และสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์ภายในชั้นเท่ากับ 0.953 จากผลการศึกษาสรุปได้ว่าแบบสอบถามการบริโภคอาหารที่พัฒนาขึ้นในการศึกษานี้มีความตรงและความเที่ยงที่เพียงพอในการประเมินประสิทธิภาพการบดเคี้ยวทางอัตวิสัยและสามารถจำแนกผู้ป่วยที่มีสภาวะช่องปากที่แตกต่างกัน

These surgical guides have typically utilized metal sleeves to assist in guidance of the drills during osteotome preparation. Purpose: To assess the prevalence and course of mandibular incisive canal in Thai population using cone-beam computed tomography. 149 CBCT images of the mandibles were obtained from 78 males (52.3%) and 71 females (47.7%) age ranged between 21 and 73 years. For the CBCT scan, the standard i-CAT settings were used. A digital ruler was incorporated into the viewing software for the purpose of taking measurements. Double measurements and observations were conducted by a single observer.
