Association of a targeting ligand such as transferrin, or an endosome disrupting peptide such as GALA, with cationic liposome-DNA complexes ('lipoplexes') results in a significant enhancement of transfection of several cell types. Although these strategies can overcome some of the barriers to gene delivery by lipoplexes, the mechanisms by which they actually enhance transfection is not known. In studies designed to establish the targeting specificity of transferrin, we found that apo-transferrin enhances transfection to the same extent as transferrin, indicating that internalization of the lipoplexes is mostly independent of transferrin receptors. การเปรียบเทียบการติดแน่นของกลาสไอโอโนเมอร์สามชนิดต่อเนื้อฟันในห้องปฏิบัติการ, สรรพัชญ์ นามะโน, ปิยวัฒน์ พันธุ์โกศล

วัตถุประสงค์ การทดลองนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาเปรียบเทียบการติดแน่นของกลาสไอโอโนเมอร์ซีเมนต์ 3 ชนิด (ไฮบอนด์ (โซฟู), ฟูจิ (จีซี) และ เมอรอน (โวโค)] ต่อเนื้อฟันในห้องปฏิบัติการ วัสดุและวิธีการ ทําชิ้นตัวอย่าง 30 ชิ้น โดยการผ่าฟันออกตามแนวยาวแล้วนํามาฝังลงบนก้อนอะคลีลิกเรซิน ชนิดแข็งตัวได้ในอุณหภูมิห้อง โดยให้หงายเนื้อฟันด้านที่ถูกตัดออก จากนั้นนํากลาสไอโอโนเมอร์ซีเมนต์แต่ละชนิด มายึดห่วงโลหะให้ติดกับเนื้อฟันทดสอบหาแรงดึงที่จะแยกห่วงโลหะและซีเมนต์ออกจากเนื้อฟันโดยทํา 10 ชิ้นตัวอย่างต่อซีเมนต์ 1 ชนิด ผลการทดลอง กลาสไอโอโนเมอร์ซีเมนต์ชนิดเมอรอนให้ค่าแรงดึงสูงที่สุดในบรรดาซีเมนต์ที่ทดสอบในขณะที่ชนิดไฮบอนด์และฟูจิไม่ได้แสดงความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสําคัญ สรุป กลาสไอโอโนเมอร์ซีเมนต์ชนิดเมอรอนให้ค่าแรงดึงสูงที่สุดในบรรดาซีเมนต์ 3 ชนิดที่นํามาทดสอบ

วัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อพิจารณาผลของเครื่องดื่มแอลกอฮอล์ที่มีต่อความแข็งแรงดัดขวางของวัสดุฐานฟันปลอมอะคริลิกชนิดบ่มด้วยความร้อน วัสดุและวิธีการ เตรียมชิ้นตัวอย่างวัสดุฐานฟันปลอม อะคริลิกชนิดบ่มด้วยความร้อนผลิตภัณฑ์โรเด็กซ์ (โรเดนท์, เอส.อาร์.แอล) รูปสี่เหลี่ยมผืนผ้าขนาด 65x10x2.5 มม. จํานวน 60 ชิ้นแบ่งเป็น 6 กลุ่มๆ ละ 10 ชิ้น นําไปแช่ ในเครื่องดื่มแอลกอฮอล์ผลิตภัณฑ์แบล็กแคท (บริษัท ยูไนเต็ด ไวน์เนอรี่ แอนด์ ดิสทิลเลอรี่ จํากัด) เข้มข้น 40 ดีกรี ที่อุณหภูมิ 5±2 องศาเซลเซียส เป็นเวลา 100 200 300 400 และ 500 ชั่วโมง ตามลําดับ จากนั้นทดสอบ ความแข็งแรงดัดขวางด้วยวิธีกด 3 จุด ด้วยเครื่องยูนิเวอร์ซัลเทสทิ้งแมชชีน (Lloyd, England) รุ่นแอลเค 10 ด้วย ความเร็วหัวกด 5 มิลลิเมตรต่อนาที ผล ค่าเฉลี่ย (หน่วยปาสคาล) และส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐานของความแข็งแรงตัดขวางของกลุ่มต่างๆ ดังนี้ กลุ่มที่ 1 ไม่ได้แช่ในเครื่องดื่มแอลกอฮอล์ 59.57 ±4.39 กลุ่มที่ 2 แช่ในเครื่องดื่มแอลกอฮอล์ครบ 100 ชั่วโมง 59.24± 5.00 กลุ่มที่ 3 แซ่ครบ 200 ชั่วโมง 60.74 ± 5.38 กลุ่มที่ 4 แซ่ครบ 300 ชั่วโมง 59.19± 4.67 กลุ่มที่ 5 แซ่ครบ 400 ชั่วโมง 58.75± 7.22 กลุ่มที่ 6 แซครบ 500 ชั่วโมง 56.6 ±5.38 …

ความเป็นพิษของปรอทต่อเซลล์เพาะเลี้ยงจากเนื้อเยื่อในโพรงฟันของคน, จีรศักดิ์ นพคุณ

วัตถุประสงค์ ปรอทถูกนํามาใช้เป็นส่วนผสมในวัสดุอุดฟันมาเป็นเวลานาน ซึ่งถึงแม้จะมีประโยชน์เป็นอย่างมากต่อ การบูรณะฟัน แต่ความเป็นพิษของปรอทต่อเซลล์ และเนื้อเยื่อยังคงเป็นปัญหาที่ถกเถียงกันอย่างกว้างขวาง ดังนั้น การทดลองนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อทดสอบความเป็นพิษของปรอทที่มีความเข้มข้น ระหว่าง 10-6-10-3 โมลาร์ (mole/L) เปรียบเทียบกับแกลเลี่ยม ที่มีความเข้มข้นเดียวกัน วัสดุและวิธีการ โดยทําการทดสอบกับเซลล์เพาะเลี้ยง ซึ่งเป็นเซลล์ไฟโบรบลาสต์ที่เพาะเลี้ยงจากเนื้อเยื่อในโพรงฟัน ของคน ทําการวิเคราะห์ความเป็นพิษของสารทดสอบด้วย MTT colorimetric assay ซึ่งเป็นวิธีการวิเคราะห์การ ทํางานของเอ็นไซม์ dehydrogenase ที่อยู่ในไมโทคอนเดรีย ผลการศึกษาและสรุป เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับกลุ่มควบคุม ปรากฏว่า สารปรอทที่ความเข้มข้นระหว่าง 10-3 ถึง 10-4 โมลาร์ จะแสดงความเป็นพิษต่อการทํางานของเอ็นไซม์ dehydrogenase โดยที่ความเข้มข้น 10-3 โมลาร์ จะทําให้การ ทํางานของเอ็นไซม์ยุติลงโดยสิ้นเชิง ในขณะที่แกลเลี่ยมในความเข้มข้นต่างๆ ที่ใช้ทดสอบไม่ได้ก่อให้เกิดอันตรายต่อ การทํางานของเอ็นไซม์ dehydrogenase ในไมโทคอนเดรีย นอกจากนี้ยังพบว่าปรอทที่ความเข้มข้น 0.3 มิลลิโมลาร์ จะทําให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงของลักษณะทางกายภาพของเซลล์และผิวเยื่อของเซลล์ เมื่อทําการศึกษาด้วยกล้องจุลทรรศน์อิเล็กตรอนชนิดส่องกราด

อีริทีมาไมแกรนด์เป็นรอยโรคไม่ร้ายแรง พบบ่อยที่ลิ้น แต่อาจพบได้ที่เยื่อเมือกด้านแก้ม พื้นช่องปาก เพดานปาก เหงือกและริมฝีปากปัจจุบันยังไม่ทราบสาเหตุแน่ชัด แต่เชื่อว่าสัมพันธ์กับโรคทางระบบอื่นหลายชนิด โดยเฉพาะโรคสะเก็ดเงิน กลุ่มอาการไรเทอร์ โรคภูมิแพ้ และความเครียดทางอารมณ์ ลักษณะทางคลินิกเป็นรอยเลี่ยนแดงขอบขรุขระ หลายตําแหน่ง ล้อมรอบด้วยเส้นหรือแถบหนานูนสีขาว ลักษณะเฉพาะของรอยโรคทั้งที่เกิด ที่ลิ้นและเยื่อเมือกช่องปากคือการย้ายที่ได้ เป็นๆ หายๆ ลักษณะทางจุลพยาธิวิทยาของเยื่อบุผิวตรงกลางรอยโรคมีการลดความหนาของชั้นเคราติน บวมน้ำ และการงอกเจริญร่วมกับการแทรกซึมของเม็ดเลือดขาวที่มีนิวเคลียสหลายพูในลักษณะฝีขนาดเล็ก ส่วนขอบของรอยโรคมีการสร้างเคราตินหรือพาราเคราตินมากเกิน ผู้ป่วยส่วนใหญ่ไม่มีอาการจึงไม่ต้องการการรักษาเฉพาะ แต่ควรบอกผู้ป่วยให้ทราบว่าเป็นรอยโรคไม่ร้ายแรง และไม่สามารถเปลี่ยนแปลงเป็นเนื้อร้ายได้ ยกเว้นในรายที่มีอาการเจ็บปวด หรือปวดแสบปวดร้อน อาจพิจารณาใช้ยาชาเฉพาะที่ ยาต้านฮีสตามีนยาสเตียรอยด์ หรือยาละลายเคราตินช่วยบรรเทาอาการได้

Shear Bond Strength Of Metal Brackets To Temporary Crowns With Different Dental Adhesives And Bond Failure, Sirima Charoenpone

Objectives The purposes of the current study were to compare the mean shear bond strengths of brackets to temporary crowns with and without sandblasting when used by chemical-cured (self-cured) and light-cured composite resin, to self-cured and light-cured glass ionomer, and to evaluate bond failure of all samples. Materials and methods Three hundred temporary crowns were divided into 10 groups with 30 samples in each group to bond metal brackets with sandblasting (SB) or non-sandblasting (NSB). วัตถุประสงค์ ทดสอบความคงทนสีของวัสดุอุดฟันสีธรรมชาติชนิดต่างๆ ภายหลังจากการได้รับแสงอาทิตย์เป็นเวลา 50 100 150 200 250 และ 300 ชั่วโมง วัสดุและวิธีการ วัสดุอุดฟันสีธรรมชาติที่ใช้ศึกษาได้แก่ คอมโพสิตเรซิน 2100 และ Herculite XRV คอมโพสิต- เรซินชนิดดัดแปรด้วยกรดโพลี Dyract กลาสไอโอโนเมอร์ซีเมนต์ Fuji IX และ Ketac-Molar กลาสไอโอโนเมอร์ซิเมนต์ชนิดดัดแปรด้วยเรซิน Fuji II LC improved และ Vitremer เตรียมชิ้นตัวอย่างขนาดเส้นผ่านศูนย์กลาง 2 ซม. หนา 1.2 มม. จํานวน 6 ชิ้นในแต่ละผลิตภัณฑ์ แช่ในน้ํากลั่นที่อุณหภูมิ 37 องศาเซลเซียส เป็นเวลา 24 ชั่วโมงแล้วนําไปวัดสี (L*, at, b) ด้วยเครื่องสเปกโตรโฟโตมิเตอร์ จากนั้นแช่ในน้ํากลั่น 30 ซม. นําไปวาง กลางแสงอาทิตย์ ทําการวัดสี ณ ชั่วโมงที่ 50 100 150 200 250 และ 300 จากนั้นนําค่า L* a* และ b* มา คํานวณค่าความแตกต่างสี (AE) ของวัสดุที่ใช้ในการทดลองที่ชั่วโมงต่างๆ ตามลําดับผล ค่าเฉลี่ย และค่าเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐานของ AE” ของวัสดุที่ใช้ในการทดลองที่ชั่วโมงต่างๆ ตามลําดับ ดังนี้ Z100 มีค่า 0.74±0.11 0.77±0.06 0.79±0.07 1.01 +0.16 1.97 +0.25 และ 0.79 -0.13 Herculite XRV มีค่า 2.30±0.18 2.99±0.35 …

Behçet's disease is a multisystemic inflammatory disease with histological evidence for vasculitis and characterized by mucocutaneous, ocular, articular, vascular, intestinal, pulmonary, renal and neurologic involvement. According to the diagnostic criteria formed by the International Study Group, recurrent oral ulceration is a prerequisite, with two more typical symptoms or signs. It is a disease of young adults with a more severe course in male subjects. Its prevalence is high in the Mediterranean basin, Turkey, Japan and those ethnic groups along the old Silk Route and has been known to be associated with HLA-B5 and HLA-B11. Purpose: The treatment of pediatric dental patients can only be as effective as the degree to which the parent consents to treatment. This study was designed to A) determine the most effective method of communicating a dental procedure to the parent of a pediatric patient and B) determine the impact that various presentation methods would have on a parent's willingness to give informed consent.

Methods: A Pulpotomy procedure was explained to each parent by one of the following methods; 1) written, 2) written and model, 3) verbal or 4) verbal and model.

The purpose of this study is to determine if mandibular first molar distal tip back during orthodontic treatment will result in improved long-term alignment of mandibular incisors. Our pre and posttreatment sample consisted of 57 Class I and Class II patients (40 female and 17 male). Incisor irregularity was recorded at T2 and T4 (average of 12.9 years postretention at T4). Molar tipback was evaluated T1 to T2 and T2 to T4. The purpose of this study is to compare two mechanical debonding methods on ceramic brackets (TP MXi and 3M Clarity) and a metal bracket (GAC OmniArch) with four different bonding materials (light-cured, one-step chemical-cured, two-step chemical-cured, and Fuji GIC) in clinical simulation, where the diametral force was applied on the handle of the pliers. The effectiveness of mechanical debonding technique was determined by evaluating the following variables: the amount of force required to debond the bracket, the amount of residual adhesive remaining on the enamel surface, the frequency of unexpected bracket failure, and the prevalence of visible enamel damage. Genetic And Structural Analyses Of Cytoplasmic Filaments Of Wild-Type Treponema Phagedenis And A Flagellar Filament-Deficient Mutant, Jacques Izard, William A. Samsonoff, Mary Beth Kinoshita, Ronald J. Limberger

Unique cytoplasmic filaments are found in the treponeme genus of spirochete bacteria. Their function is unknown, but their location underneath the periplasmic flagellar filaments (PFF) suggests a role in motility and/or cell structure. To better understand these unique structures, the gene coding for the cytoplasmic filaments, cfpA, was identified in various treponemal species. Treponema phagedenis cfpA was 2,037 nucleotides long, and the encoded polypeptide showed 78 to 100% amino acid sequence identity with the partial sequence of CfpA from T. denticola, T. vincentii, and T. pallidum subsp. pertenue.
