Rural Honduras encompasses many individuals with limited access to a dental professional. Many public health studies demonstrate that dental shortage areas have more dental cavities, missing teeth, and more complex restorations that need periodic treatment. Dental hygiene is undermined at home with limited access to oral health advocates, and dental education becomes more essential. Here, we report an educational consensus and perspectives of rural Honduras through a questionnaire distributed at 13 mobile dental clinics in remote villages. Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of type of tooth-support (bounded edentulous space versus unbounded edentulous spaces) on the accuracy of fully-guided implant placement using static computer-assisted implant surgery (sCAIS) in partially-dentate patients. Methods: Four different clinical scenarios were simulated; (a) bounded single-tooth edentulous space (BES), and three different free-end distal extensions with (b) unbounded single-tooth edentulous space (UBES1), (c) unbounded two-teeth edentulous space (UBES2), and (d) unbounded three-teeth edentulous space (UBES3). Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to determine the edge-chipping toughness and the translucency of lithium silicate-based glass ceramics. Materials and Methods: Four lithium silicate/disilicate glass-ceramic materials, IPS e.max CAD and GC Initial LiSi blocks, and two zirconia-lithium silicate glass-ceramic materials, Vita Suprinity and Celtra Duo, were prepared and tested (n=20 specimens/group). Specimens (14 x 12 x 1.5 mm) were sectioned from commercially available chairside computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) blocks, fired (if indicated), ground, and polished. Little has been done to study the effects that proclination of the incisors has on the soft tissue profile. White sponge nevus (WSN) is a rare autosomal dominant asymptomatic keratotic disorder. A case report is presented of a 28-year-old male with a long-standing asymptomatic and widespread oral mucous membrane keratosis. A diagnosis of WSN was made based on his clinical history, the characteristic appearance of the lesion, and the histopathology.

The purpose of this study was to analyze how 2013 New York State Medicaid legislation that introduced HLD index affected orthodontic Medicaid treatment approval affected orthodontic Medicaid treatment approval. Eighty-six patients pre-2013 and eighty-six post-2013 were selected from a single academic center. The number of patients who auto-qualified post-2013 significantly increased (58 vs 39, p=0.006). For the patients who did not auto-qualify there was a significant increase (p=0.017) in HLD scores post-2013 (31.38) compared to pre-2013 (13.34). Fifty-one percent of the patients approved pre -2013 would not have qualified for coverage under the current policy.

Purpose: A facial reference frame is a 3-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system that includes 3 perpendicular planes: midsagittal, axial, and coronal. The order in which one defines the planes matters. The purposes of this study are to determine the following: 1) what sequence (axial-midsagittal-coronal vs midsagittal-axial-coronal) produced more appropriate reference frames and 2) whether orbital or auricular dystopia influenced the outcomes.

Methods: This study is an ambispective cross-sectional study. Fifty-four subjects with facial asymmetry were included. Background

The aim of this study was to improve upon the Modified Dental Anxiety Scale (MDAS) by developing the empathy-based International-Modified Dental Anxiety Scale (I-MDAS). This measure was produced and utilized to compare the dental experiences and anxiety levels of international patients versus national patients in the United States.

Methods

The I-MDAS is composed of the International scale and the original MDAS scale. Of 465 participants, 41.3% comprised the national population and 58.7% comprised the international population. Information about demographics, past negative dental experiences, and current dental anxiety was collected.
